When it first came out, I was disappointed at aspects of the pacing, gross mischaracterization and lack of Starlight and Trixie, but almost 10 years on I'm feeling generally favorable about it, could have been a lot worse. I think the biggest crime post coitus was never using Tempest Shadow in the show afterwards spare three frames in the finale.
>>43260999Tempest Shadow was the best part of the film, and I still like her song. I've warmed up to her a little. After watching Transformers One, Hasbro sure loves its circumcision metaphors, doesn't it?
It was scat lifted from the depths of ho-hum territory!
>>43261003"Open Up Your Eyes" is still my favorite track in the entire franchise, I would go as far to say I like it even more than some classic Disney songs like "Hellfire" and "I'll Make a Man Out of You".
>>43260999I only watched it recently for the first time. It felt like it would be fine if it happened in an earlier season and is honestly a lot better than most episodes post season 7, so I don't think it's too bad. Worst parts are some characters get super sidelined(Fluttershy especially) and the storm king is lame as fuck. I also don't like the cat thing. The good parts are when the ponies act cute at the start of the movie and little scenes like rarity looking at a mirror while falling and AJ rolling her eyes
>>43260999>gross mischaracterizationWas dumb, yes.>lack of Starlight and TrixieWas good, in my opinion. I don't really like those two all that much, especially since Glim sort of just exists in the main cast to play the straight man to Twi's new psychosis. The movie is just kinda whatever. Honestly it could only improve by removing that weird furry town and the sky pirates. They definitely just came from somebody else's unused project and added nothing.
>>43260999 (checked)I liked the opening song and Fizzy but, gun to my head, I couldn't tell you anything that happened between that opening and the climax besides maybe Twilight yelling at Pinkie, but everypony has done that.
>>43260999I want tempest to take me on an airship ride while explaining to me the Equestrian equivalent of the FAA in autistic detail
>>43260999Pretty mid. Starlight and Trixie would've definitely improved it.Cut out all the worthless bipedal furry sections, have the main characters split into two groups, m6 and Starlight's crew, Glimmy stays in Canterlot leading the resistance while the m6 are out finding the hippogryph mcguffin as before with Tempest on their tail. Startrix being a thorn on the Storm King's side would actually give him something to do and the banter between them would be funny, maybe learn something more about him in the process. Yea, it's a shame Tempest didn't get to appear again.
>>43261086>canonizing the Equestrian Liberation Front
>>43261034>Was good, in my opinion. I don't really like those two all that muchBased, was just gonna say this, the movie was already disappointing enough on its own, we didn't need it to be even worse.
>>43260999It was definitely a cartoon movie. I liked the 'vibe' of the story (grand adventure outside of Equestria) even tho it was overall pretty bad. The songs were pretty good tho.
>>43260999You can sum it up as follows.Tempest is hot, the movie is not.
>>43260999They had a unicorn with a broken horn and named her "Fizzlepop". Other than that, it was forgettable.
>>43260999Extremely below average movie. The scrapped ideas they had were better than what they shat out.
>>43261003>lack of Starlightgood>lack of TrixieNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
>>43261637Meant for >>43260999
>>43260999I assume most people seem to like it in a spectrum of "It's good" to "It's mediocre but entertaining". I fall more in the "It's average as fuck and quite boring" category, which is a shame because I remember being quite excited in 2014 when they announced they were making a non-Barbie My Little Pony movie.
>>43260999I really wanted to see Starlight.Seemed like the movie was written for S4.
>>43260999way better than G%
>>43261909Anything is better than G5, Anon. It isn't that hard to beat that.
>>43261909>>43262329A New Generation is much better than My Little Pony: The Movie.
>>43260999I never watched it, and I won't. I cut away S3 and cauterized the wound, and retreated permanently into S1/S2.
>>43260999>lack of Starlightgood>lack of Trixiegood
>consensus>a generally accepted opinion or decision among a group of peoplethere isn't something like this, anon
>>43260999tempest sexo
>>43260999The movie was well animated but the theme of saving the world was meh. But I still liked it. And we got to see proper slave ponies.
>>43260999>lack of Starlightbad>lack of Trixiebad
>>43263436This.>>43260999The opening song was the worst part of it.
>>43264704>The opening song was the worst part of it.Geez, someone don't got this.
>>43260999i saw the movie for the first time at the 2nd mare fair when they had the first movie screening, i had been avoiding the movie like the plague before then and thought it would be the ultimate experience to watch for the first time, and boy it wasmaybe that's why it felt so good, because i was already filled with horsefuckery and snowpity spirit that the twilight and pinkie pie scene made me tear up, i think it was a good movie with a lot of catchy songs, some characters like huge furry and grubber are obviously not that great but i'm glad we ever even got that movie to begin with, i have also learned a lot about the cut stories/different adaptations they initially had planned for it and that made me appreciate the film even more, i'm a sucker for lore building
