It's a shame we won't see another character like Applejack again. A blonde, southern, hardworking gal who still maintains her femininity is anathema to modern day tv show writers, they hate her archetype and what she represents.
Not to mention the allusions to religion and conservatism, even if it is small "c" conservatism.
For me, it's everyone trying to make AJ out to be gay, when it's so painfully obvious she wants to be a mother and have many kids of her own because of how much of an emphasis the Apple Family puts on genealogy

Even when I went to a private Christian school, one girl was vilified because her dream was to graduate, get married to her boyfriend of four years, and have many children as soon as possible with him. In my work space, women will aggressively fight for maternity leave, but then ostracize and complain when one of our employees does get pregnant and uses the tools and resources set up to support new families. We can't throw the metaphorical baby out with the bathwater, but there are only two groups of people who hate hetero breeders: Homo men, and strong, independent women who don't need no man (just his money).
