Trying to appropriate a lesser culture than your own is bad. It would be like Rome at the peak of their glory trying to act like sub saharan africans to appease some wayward traders and dysgenic visitors to their empire. Theres no dignity in it. Yak culture is objectively shit. But the ponies did it in good faith. They mean 0 harm to any of the yaks who want to declare war on a race that could in all likelihood just sick Discord on them and be done with it. The fact that even past this episode many ponies comment on how smelly and ugly yaks are is still funny.
