>"How do we make the last episode of MLP:FIM good?">"HURR DURR WHAT IF WE HAD LIKE A AVENGERS MOMENT WHERE LIKE EVERY SINGLE CREATURE WERE THERE TO SUPPORT TWILIGHT SPARKLE AND LIKE BEAT THE VILLIANS LIKE IN MY SUPERHEROSLOP?!"Hasbro can't even hire good writers post S2
>>43269590>Hasbro can't even hire good writers post S2Yeah that's the whole problem, Anon. Are you new here?
>>43269590that isn't the last episode of MLP:FiM though
Why was she so pissed off?
>>43269611Anon finally showered
>>43269590>Ending of a show called "Friendship is Magic" ended with a scene involving all friends from all episodes>Hur dur Marvel superheroslopenNot saying that the writing was great in the later seasons, but this is the worst criticism you could possibly make.
>>43269590In their defense, that is the minimum you would expect by a series which most important and powerful magic is “the power of the friendship”Not saying that the build up is good, but at very least the scene itself is true to the morals of the show
>>43269590The ponies turning on each other felt way more forced. That kind of shit would only happen if Celestia endorsed it and broadcast it across the world
>>43269590it wasn't that bad. the whole show was about making friends and just at the end, the mane 6 finally got the fruits of it when they fought enemies they couldn't handle on their ownit wasn't as epic as the writers intended, but it was nice anyway
>>43269611She knew the finale was crap.
>>43269590There are people out there who think this conclusion to the show was great. The only thing I have to say to them is fuck off.
>>43269590Yeah it really landed like a turd. Was I supposed to feel triumph or edge here? Felt nothing. It just sucked.
>>43269701It wasn't. Everyone was just hating their guts a few seconds ago then a few fillies and creatures give a gay-ass preaching about how their friends need them and everything solved. The fact there are as easy to manipulate by Chrysallis as easy to change their minds about it makes Equestria seem like it's completely inhabited by utter morons.
>>43269609Yeah they had to do one even worse. I want to kill every "don't care more pony" fag. This series should have ended abruptly in season 7
>>43269611>I wish I was at home watching My Little Human>The yak is too loud>My hooves hurt>I'm hungry
>>43269590Wasn't handled any worse than Twilight instantly gaining 5 best friends out of nowhere without any effort on her part and being crowned the most magical friend ever. You cannot defend the nonsensical fever dream the premiere was. Faustfags lack all self awareness.

>>43270483Hasbro's strongest soldier over here
>>43270483To be fair most of them were kids when they first watched the episode.
>>43269590>makes MLP good againHave you thanked our lord and savior, Josh Haber?
>>43270592Unironically true, he was a hell of a lot better than McSharty.
>>43270483>>43270498Unrelated to the discussion, but as a newfag that just joined now in the club, it surprised me that the whole NMM stuff happened right at the start of the story.I had some vague memories as a kid but i was Mandela’d into believing that Nightmare moon and the discovering of the Elements was actually at the end of the season instead of at the very beginning
>>43270619>it surprised me that the whole NMM stuff happened right at the start of the storyiirc Faust intended for Moonie to last the whole of season 1, and for Twiggie to make her friends episode by episode.
>>43269955literally me
>>43270619What happens in part 2 only makes sense for a season finale which is why it's so jarring, none of it was earned.
>>43270624I suppose the execs wanted a strong first impression for the show back than and so they made the story happen this early instead of building it up only for it to fumble in the end (like happened to that MLP parody of the Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy)
>>43270671mean
>>43270668>What happens in part 2 only makes sense for a season finale which is why it's so jarring, none of it was earned. They are going to defeat Nightmare Moon, it is not a matter of if, it is a matter of when. That's part of why the story opens up with Twilight in the intro; reading, "Predictions & Prophecies". The show writers decided to have the main characters both meet-&-defeat their first villain all in-one-swoop, in the premiere. It is predictable. It leaves us wondering a lot what would the debut of NMM (or any of the villains) be like if it were not a TV-Y show.
>>43270707I wonder how good S1 would've been if it was actually written well with Twilight learning to open herself up to others and earning her friendships one by one.
>>43270707Yes, we know the hero will always save the day in the end even without watching the show, obviously predictable. However what makes a story interesting is how they get from point A to point B. The issue is the premiere skips everything such as character development that'd make the journey to B compelling.
>>43270728The only reason I'm not totally against a G4 reboot is the chance to see a revamped S1 closer to Faust's original vision.
>>43269590What?
>>43269590the kirins shouldn't be there
>>43270887Why not?
>>43271383They're UGLY.
>>43271899
>>43271911O-oh... I'm sorry little Kirin.
If we, as a collective, laid down on the copium as to see how faust jumped the shark all the way back to the literal SECOND episode of SEASON 1 when she completely undermined nightmare moon's backstory and twilight's conflict of making friends in just a single fucking anime flashback powerup asspull that was neither earned, properly setup nor build up in the slightlest but instead just given to her by the writers because she happened to notice the strangers she just met being useful to her cause and thus, realizing"huh, having friends can be useful, never before in my whole life did I never stop to make that connection despite being characterized as the autistic nerd".problem?Nightmare Moon's struggle with being overshadowed by Celestia?Boom, gone! She was just being a whiny bitch that needed some rainbow tasting spanking to be set back on the right place.problem?Twilight's inflated ego and lack of social skills being the very things keeping her from making friends?Boom, gone! Friends just... come to her...willingly! She is actually flawless and just needed to learn how friends can be useful.problem?Celestia's failure with her sister being the cataclysm to her corruption and the error of the past that had to be corrected somehow if Celestia were to ever hope to get things back to normalcy with her sister?Boom! Gone! Thanks to floaty magic rocks going YEEE, Luna gets back with Celestia just fine, in fact, it's Luna who feels any kind of guilt or remorse for her past, as if she even had the opportunity to do anything wrong before being sentenced a 1000 years on the moon with no trial. They don't even attempt to make a connection between the main conflict and the protagonists, Twilight just wants to stop Nightmare Moon because hurr durr she is evil and eternal nights are bad, that's it! Nothing about that motivation relates to making friends or learning about friendship. What about Nightmare Moon's backstory relates to Twilight in any way? There's nothing! It's just generic evil backstory for generic evil villain that generic protagonist must defeat by overcoming their generic problem and save the day.The show only shines in the isolation of single episodes of contained narratives because it couldn't really go beyond that, it was, in fact, made primarily to sell toys and done so in a restrictive budget reflective of this fact.Lauren Faust did not revolutionize girl's media, she just struck gold in a time where there wasn't much competition and internet hype culture was up for grabs, all she really had to do was make a cute show with cute ponies in wholesome moments with nothing too annoying to scare the adults away and she would've won!Had she done nothing beyond the bare minimum of this formula, the results wouldn'tve differed. If you pay close attention, you would realize just how unremarkable the show is at everything else it tries, including comedy. It's a show made to be enjoyed, not really thought about.
>>43272592I love this pasta. It's correct yet so autistic and it reminds me of gollyfag.
>>43272596It's half-correct—the criticisms are valid, but they shouldn't be targeted toward Faust since she didn't want to make this a two-parter. Rather, she envisioned an entire season long arc, which would have probably solved most of the issues raised in this copypasta. So, a completely correct version would mourn Faust's departure, or at least approve of her efforts to avoid these exact problems by stretching the NMM arc across season one.
>>43270483In the early days I remember a few people telling anyone interested in the show to skip the first two episodes and go straight to ticket master.
>>43272592>whiny bitch that needed some rainbow tasting spanking to be set back on the right placeunf, need to see that, nightmare moon getting spanked by the mane 6 for being an bratty alicorn
>>43272625I remember people recommending to start with dragonshy.
>>43271383they are racist towards anyone except the ponies
>>43272622>Faust didn't do no wrong, even though she was head person responsible
>>43272743Yes.
>>43270670Why couldnt g% look like this where did the talent go
>>43270670Grim Adventures really did predict it https://youtu.be/LizH0Mzn03Y?si=X3RG25bLuliBYFI9https://youtu.be/g1F69QhAerE?si=-lfEcJGgxfxfPaHG
>>43272625Ticket Master is a better introduction to the m6 and their dynamic and also a better representation of what the show is like.
>>43272622NTA. Even if true that Faust wanted it to be season long a lot of these flaws are just trademark Faust bad writing from her Powerpuff Girls days, so I wouldn't be so confident that she could have written it better even if she was allowed to stretch it into a whole season. Also it's not just the that episode: Plenty of episodes from the first two seasons were pretty controversial, accidentally depicted the protagonists in a very negative light, or just straight-up bad. And Faust definitely deserves at least part of the blame for some of them, best example being Dragon Quest, a tribute to an apparently well-liked G1 episode that would have been ideal for her to explore some of the ideas she had for Spike, that she pretty much confirmed she turned into a "fuck you" for boys who don't like girly stuff just because they're girly, at the expense of everything else (ironically also shaming boys who like girly stuff and giving plenty of reasons to dislike girly stuff in the same episode).
