The web was still usually ruled by people with at least some experience when it came to ways of old. The issues with a more profit-driven internet became quite noticeable is when YouTube changed their ad revenue model in late 2012/early 2013 killing internet animation as we know it and smartphones in 2015 becoming the main device people use to search content online.
