It's rarer to see a waifufag that is willing to step into that light and engage with their own desire (epitomized by the waifu herself) earnestly and as their own selves.

THAT is being disconnected from reality - not only fantasizing and lost to the physical world, but fantasizing in such a way as to diminish even one's own personal feeling-connection to the content of the fantasy. It becomes a hollow and dreamlike existence. For you, you are connected to the joy, and the joy guides you along the right path, neither avoiding the physical world nor avoiding fantasy. That's what I mean by leaving that voyeur posture - one has to grapple with the whole situation, you can't keep the fantasy completely split off from reality and pushed away. That's why the dream of the waifu feels so painfully distant for so many waifufags.
