I ran 31 minutes straight today at 4.0 MPH minimum and 4.5 MPH maximum. For someone who is 70 pounds overweight I'd say that is pretty good. Nothing even hurts. I only intended to run a few minutes but I just didn't stop after a time. I didn't stop because at the time I didn't care if my heart exploded. It didn't explode. It mostly stayed at 140-150 BPM. It only went to 160 in the last few minutes. I am not stopping anymore. I am tired of not being the man I always could have been. I am done with it. I will report my progress regularly. So when that door shuts, your feeling function is numbed out and you lose access to whatever that capacity is.The main purpose of the feeling function is valuation. The rational, objective worldview is only relative, and therefore lacks the ability to make absolute value judgements. When it tries to take the place of the feeling function, you get poor, hollow value judgements like "at least I'm healthy enough" - there's no personal feeling behind it, it's just the relative judgement of "this is better than the alternative". Compare that to love; the knowledge of its value isn't abstract at all, it's visceral and true without elaboration, in a way that rationality can't touch. Without that, the unrelentingly rational mind loses its grounding and ultimately falls into neurotic depression - which you'll note is practically the default state of most modern people.All that to say that I'm worried about you. I think waifu feelings happen (and with such intensity!) because we are overly rational by default and build up a need for these breakthroughs of feeling.
