Might be a controversial take but I don’t think there is a person that Celestia would attach herself to that didn’t have the potential to become immortal. Her sister is immortal, she apparently liked Cadance enough to call her a niece and she is immortal, and Twilight who was her faithful student (and the only one that we know about) became immortal. This pattern suggests either you have to have the potential to become immortal to gain access to Celestia’s inner circle or maybe accessing that inner circle guarantees immortality but she is very selective who she lets in.
