Professor Kirin didn't deserve redemption

I think the only reason why he got the spotlight was because the Kirin lore needed an introduction. And the Kirin lore was needed for the setup of the movie. Honestly I would have preferred the movie to have focused more on the conflict between Parcelcore and Friendship. It was building up for so long and it had a proper setup. The Kirin lore feels so out of nowhere in comparison. But that's the only complaint I have about it.

So he gets a scene of figuring out with Soarin and Braeburn. Only for the conflict to be solved as easily as... "Oh well there's nothing wrong with depending on each other if there's love" "You can be your own self now you don't need to be just a copy". Which makes sense but why didn't Friendship get more focus if he was the one with the problem to begin with? He's the one that didn't wanna let go. Arinos never tried to leave his side prior to this but Friendship was just so insecure to believe he will if he gets a new body that unintentionally started to break his friend from the inside. It felt really selfish and probably the most interesting part of the conflict to begin with. Parcelcore's influence was there to stir up shit for sure but his reasoning was never mistaken. Although I ultimately believe that self-acceptance is a good message there's something about it that doesn't sit well with me. About them being copies destined to be tied to their originals and designed to be together forcefuly but not unwillingly? (If that makes sense) Maybe Im reading this the wrong way perhaps. I understand the core theme of the movie was accepting that you don't need wishes to be happy. But Arinos wish seemed genuine and made sense for his character. Friendship's selfishness never gets any exploration but just a quick resolution. Also hard to buy he feels comfortable under his skin considering how reclusive he's been.Lots to unpack but at least they got a happy ending. Some people wanted Friendship to be gone but I personally don't think that's the right call. The ending gave me vibes of that Pinocchio 2022 Disney remake when he doesn't turn into a real boy at the end lol

But the point remains, their relationship's the only plot thread that had any kind of resolving of tension, every other one was just ratcheting theirs up further. there's so much more left to explore in the stallion storyline, and whoever was saying that there's nowhere to go from here was so off base that it has me questioning if they actually watched the episode.tangentially related, the shot of arinos picking up friendship is visually a callback to the shot of care package lifting apple bottom into the air after knocking him unconscious in infection. i don't know if that's just tamers reusing a dramatic visual or if there's some deeper implication, especially considering that's the episode where arinos was born. in terms of going forward, I'm excited to see where prof kirin will end up and the last laugh/care package's father situation, of course, and i'm absolutely dreading yet more clean sweep/future soarin/big mac drama. I was hoping they'd reach some kind of resolution in that last episode so that they could coast on a stable dynamic for a few episodes while we focused on more interesting stuff, but they ended up pretty much exactly where they started. can't wait for the next episode to come out in, like, two months and it's just more of future soarin's adventures in the cuck chair.

I think it's pretty clear that the rejection in hot pot party was another one of her plays to maintain a veneer of heterosexuality.

Like, at the very beginning you see apple split bought a book to learn sign language, and then in that scene they not only don't acknowledge this, but claim to be entirely unable to read. And when Care Package's dad sees the hickey, his expression doesn't seem to match the mood of the scene, and his emotions level off almost immediately. It could have been done better. Everything goes kinda downhill after that, and I hate everything with apple split's parents in that episode.

>>43306735Care package's dad getting flustered totally works considering that's, like, the one major recurring gag Tamers uses him for (unrelated, but him being bit by one of parcel core's bitches near the end of quarantine is oddly adorable, like he's not played too seriously that he doesn't get to join in the silly goings on). it's a lightly comedic moment that doesn't completely kill the mood while also being a character moment, showing off how protective he is of his son. Also the layer of dramatic irony in him asking what they did last night, not knowing about the whole murder and arson thing, just adds more buildup for when he's inevitably broken by learning the truth.
