Quote: "Just so people aren't confused, this isn't related to the regular Jam. As OP said that'll start in a little over a week. I'll post the thread in a handful of days, I'll try to have it posted by the 10th at the earliest. I've got a couple surprises so stay vigilant of the catalog!"

We are making a DESIGN DOCUMENT JAM since the Game Jam is coming soon... in "a little over a week". It is up to the indie devs if they'll use your document or not.
The original plan was to start this GDD Jam 2 months earlier like the game jam: 1 month to prepare/gather everyone and 1 month to actually program the games. The Game Jam usually takes 2months, so actually the GDD Jam is DOABLE because of this. We'll remove the preparation time and instead just set a deadline: 1 week BEFORE the game jam begins, that way any game developer has TIME to actually review your document to see if it's useful to them or not.

Provide illustrations/sketches/drawfagging since it's the easiest way for somebody to understand what the hell you're talking about, especially gifs/animations/references.

Do not limit yourself to 1 page. Try 6 to 9 pages, but-

- but, it's important to make the design of the core mechanics reusable and small(or rather feasible via copy-pasting).
For example last year's gamejam had you making drinks, you need an entire page dedicated to the combos/crafting recipes for making said drinks. And March's gamejam had games within games because it was 3(out of 5) characters telling campfire stories and each game played differently with different mechanics so that would also require more than 1 page to detail it correctly.

At the end of the design document jam we will judge you for how easy your design is to comprehend and how feasible it is in practice. Let's see if you got what it takes as a game designer.

>this is a straight race across the city where the winner is the first player to drive from 'A' to 'B', taking any route

I don't get this part. If the race is straight, what alternate routes could possibly give you an advantage?

Let me find something other than google docs to post my idea in cause fuck Google.
>>
>>43289099
You still have to reach point B no matter how you reach it. Pro-tip: Teleporters are allowed.
>>
>>43289156
What's wrong with Google?
>>
>>43289066
Honestly i think the doom bible sucks

What was that top-down game where you interact with NotTwilight and search ruined abandoned NotPonyville near the Everfree Forest? Did it ever get updated? I wanted to see how it plays since it has an idea I've always wanted to see put into practice with town creation/hub world and going in dangerous areas.
>>
Well this is your chance to not be just a faggot, ideafags. Let's see if you can even ideafag correctly.
>>
>>43289577
I don't even ideafag so i don't know what am i supposed to be doing here. Am i supposed to pick a latex template or something like that?
>>
This is too hard. Imma just wing my game during the jam again. I think the theme is no movement?
>>
The ones making the games ... are you participating in this separate jam as well? It's basically a bonus.
>>
How many game jams a year are we having now?
>>
>>43290013
We're still having only 3 a year! This, as I i derstand it, is where idea guys (non derogatory) can develop their visions.
>>43289063
Little problem OP,. I'm not doing such long periods anymore. The Jam is gonna las 3 weeks with one week of headsup, as was discussed the last thread. Turns out giving away too much time is detrimental and leads to feature creep.
If you want, contact me through email or in the (future) thread so we can maybe figure something out.

Let's see if anyone even comes up with any game designs to begin with. This place is more lazy and disinterested than an old man being talked to about how to get to the minus world in Super Mario Bros.
They can't even play already finished games. They barely have the attentionspan to WATCH said games being played by others.
>>
>>43290171
If nothing else the game devs themselves will make a document themselves, but whole point is to show how non-programmers and non graphics artists can be good designers in terms of video game logic, to show that there's a point to game design as the 4th connecting element to video games, since you can have all the ability in the world but your idea be really bad.
