Why is everybody seemingly ok with Discord betraying his friends? If I handed a mental patient a machinegun and told him to go to town people would think im insane and hate me. Discord is just forgiven.

It takes a lot to make her start casting offensive magic, and those are usually just laser blasts. This fight was probably the most offensive she ever got. Eventually traded laser blows with Starlight during their tiff but again, it took her a while to get there.
