Welcome to the... 8th? GameJam!
For those of you not in the know, here's how it works:
1. Go to : https://itch.io/jam/mlpcon-game-jam-no-movment and Join
2. Maek gaem in any engine you'd like
3. Once you finish your game, submit it on the itch page before the time runs out game so everyone can play it!
4. When the timer runs out, I'll show off the first handful of minutes of the games in a live stream to give the viewers a general idea of the gameplay.

I do implore you, BEG YOU to join if you're considering, even THINKING about participating. It helps me get an idea of the final games submitted. Also, this time we're doing 3 weeks of work time on the game. Turns out giving too much time makes devs overscope the time frame, who would've thought!

As always, the stream will be the last panel of the con (without counting the closing ceremonies).
Now, as agreed last thread, we'll be doing a thematic theme, and a restrictive theme. And now it's time for the restrictive theme.

The main thing I want out of this is finished games. I myself struggle with the scope of my projects, it's a skill that needs to be practiced, so let's practice it!

People in this universe don't use their feet/hooves to move. They use teleporters or conveyor belts. Also the commander of a RTS does not move his fat ass, neither does any tycoon tyrant move away from his PC. He sits there and gives information to the hero character cause you as a player have far more important things to attend to as an adjutant ... such as yelling SNAKE SNAKE SNAKE and eating this hamburger.
Also Eustace has the right idea for this jam with refusing to get out of his chair while he reads his newspaper.

My slow ass is finally getting around to playing some more of the Horror/Edge games. I'm having a little scramble now before we get another bunch of fun games that I will postpone playing.

I just went through Glue, and it was a lot of fun! The classic feel of the pre-rendered backgrounds was very nostalgic and cozy, and the suspense and mystery were nice. The girls were well characterized, the writing was good and the jokes had me laughing many times!
The first scares got me, and the parts with choices were properly unnerving.
There's not a whole lot of player input. But that was fine, since the times that I was given the ability, I was scared to make those inputs. I liked it a lot!

I also took a trip into the dark and spooky F.A.G.G.O.T.R.Y.
Right away, the artstyle, all the assets and the 3D world are all very cool, interesting, spooky and evocative. It's a big map with many interesting spaces, and the objectives and hurdles make you explore it a whole bunch.
There are many funny jokes and things to find around the environment, and the factory is quite spooky, especially in the dark.

However! I quickly realized that it has the classic porn game problem of: "Being beaten is the reward."
The hazards of the game; the small random-colored mares that roam the faggotry, are all total cuties, and I love hearing them clippety-clop around, and I love their little pounce-charge-up sprite, and I can't get enough of their "Got ya!" when they get ya, and I love how they land on you you, and Ilovethem.
Therefore; after getting a fair high-score, it quickly devolved into me just looking at them through the corner of anon's eye to trigger their instinct to pounce onto humans on purpose.
I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that several mares can land on you at the same time. While it is very detrimental to ones score and survival, having them swarm around you while three mares press their hooves in your face and then proceed to pounce-lock you in place for several minutes was much more fun and... exciting than it had any right to be.

Very pretty game. I stand no chance against small colorful equines.

My summer semester started this week, and next week is probably gonna be my busiest, but I might try and make a game if I have time.

(Also I kinda took a break from working on FNaP to deal with some other IRL stuff this past month or two, so that's still as incomplete as it was at the end of the last jam.
So it ain't gonna be available as an honorary/"non-contest" game, unfortunately. :(

It's a very pretty and polished game, with cute boopable mares, cute dialogue, and fun but not depressing Papers Please gameplay that properly ramps up in difficulty between the days! Lots of fun!

There was also this other mail-room game in that same jam; Derpy's Hearts N Hooves Day Mailroom Sorting Simulator.
It's also a lot of fun, but somehow a bit harder for me to get a grip of. Maybe I just missed reading some instructions somewhere. But still a lot of fun to send mail and HnH day gifts to ponies to make their day!

It's the one I already got somewhat built from working on FNaP.

The problem is my two ideas were sort of visual-novel kinda things, but in order to be a "game", the player's decisions would have to affect how the game progresses.
For example, the first of my two ideas was a game where you're on a date with Rarity, and basically you can do all sorts of various things at the table, which will affect her mood and opinion of you.
While something like that's DO-ABLE, it'd probably take way too long to properly script out.

progress is smooth. i added the shooting and paralyzing ability. once a filly is paralyzed you have to move them to their place. i'm adding that feature right now. also added some sprites. there will be the 3 types of ponies. i'll add pegasi later.

This is a very big stretch with the whole train idea, but if you think about it, the conductor has no movement, the train does, you know...?

I want it to be a very short and railroaded (get it) scripted little action game, all core game systems are practically complete (train (controls are placeholder assets), terrain, camera controls) foliage and further terrain is simple enough, and such I hope in the next week to get started on the gameplay (and intro) instead of just a lackluster tech demo. There will be plenty of pinkie pie shenanigans.

progress is good again. ponies now sit when you drag them to a certain area (which will be their school chairs). unicorns will have a one hit shield that prevents them from being paralyzed. earth ponies have none. pegasi will fly fast if you miss and the magic passes close to them but i still have to add them.

No shame in it. If you want me advice, if you know you can't make it, then the pressure's off. I'd use the time to get as far as you can, solidify a bunch of baseline skills (especially all the busywork that goes into vidya like menus, assets, rigging, settings), and that way you'll be that much better for next time.
It was a pretty restrictive theme this time, even with how creatively one might interpret it. Not sure I'll get my game out either.

Game idea slightly inspired from Misery:
You're faggot Anon sitting at the PC all day and your waifu gives you stuff for your PC and hacker gameplay if you fuck her good and treat her good. There's also a murder mystery going on in the background and there's a 2nd anonymous waifu that develops a crush over you online and gives you stuff that helps your hacker and shitposting on 4chan gameplay. The 2nd anonymous waifu wants you badly, sadly you discover that she's the murderer by leaving your home for the 1st time in the middle of the night.
You evade her and your 1st waifu drags you out of the house to the beach and you have sex in the water under the moonlight.
Plot twist: your 2nd waifu was actually your 1st waifu having a Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde episode. She was samefagging the whole time. You either kill her(through sex), be killed by her(through sex) or join her in the murder only to find out something worse.
Plot twist2: She wasn't a pony, she was an ancient spirit human lady all along and she was kidnapping horse colts for thousands of years in a timeloop. You are not the first colt neither the last to be snu snu'd by her. You lived in the fucking Matrix all along, Morty.

Yeah pretty much. Kid Wizard might have also had something to do with it but his inspirations are obviously Stephen King's Misery, yanderes, crazy women.

That's the problem I didn't have any beyond let's actually make a real 4chan shitposting game where it feels like 4chan gamefied with scores and everything rather than "lol hacking is actually like tower defense" (no, no it isn't).

It would be a power fantasy on 4chan and php forums where your 1st waifu gives you the hardware power and your 2nd waifu(a 4chan moderator defending you) gives you the "hacking" proxy powers to mute, ban, shadowban, dox, spam a fictional 4chan with your favourite topics nobody wants to discuss until you shillbot them to death and they're forced to discuss it. And you get a satisfaction when your 2nd waifu finally gives you said powers so you don't have to depend on her and she doesn't tug on your leash to obey her especially when you break up with her and she takes away all your priviliges/defending you online.

The 1st problem I realized is that only a few fictional threads on the entire catalog would be available to open per day cause otherwise it's too much custom text & images to insert.
2nd problem is what I just mentioned where you need to feel a sense of satisfaction arguing with fictional users online and taking a shit on them. You need either a few A,B,C dialogue options, or A-Z options generated from an AI and curated by a human or an actual real-time LLM responding to your bullshit which still has to be curated(in real time) to actually feel REAL when that piece of shit reaction image fag replies with an image and 2-3 words and argues with you like a parrot(which isn't hard to do, a bunch of the fleshbots I argued with online are way dumber than even Cleverbot but they occasionally make those "clever" replies that makes you feel like you're arguing with the combination of a dumb as fuck person and a smartass that knows exactly what he's doing(AKA a 9 year old who barely understands the English language) that makes you want to strangle him to death through the screen to give you that NEED to WANT to do it and then that satisfaction.

I can also go into "detail" about the sex aspect on what not to forget and what not to do.
