I'm only doing this for seasons 1-5 since I don't have a solid enough memory of seasons 6-9. Anyways, there was discussion on this thread >>43297551 about how much the show changed in this balance in season 4. So let's do the math and find out! Image here is Season 1, which I calculated as having 7 action/adventure episodes, 8 hybrid episodes, and 11 slice of life episodes. Note that my memory is faulty and that for some of these it was tough to decide between hybrid and action/adventure. So please let me know if you think I misclassified any of these. Seasons 2-5 will be done in the replies!

>>43298215I thought it was a good way to visually convey the information
Here is season 2, with 10 action/adventure episodes, 5 hybrid episodes, and 11 slice of life episodes! So same amount of slice of life episodes as season 1 but with less hybrids and more action/adventure.
Here is Season 3, with with 5 action/adventure episodes, 6 hybrid episodes, and 2 slice of life episodes! This shows a huge shift away from slice of life, with proportionally the same amount of action/adventure as Season 2 but with the pure slice of life collapsing, with more episodes that would otherwise be slice of life still having clear action elements
Here is Season 4, with 10 Action/Adventure episodes, 4 Hybrid Episodes, and 12 Slice of Life Episodes! This season is actually less action/adventure focused than season 3, which much more slice of life episodes and much less hybrids, although with same action/adventure episodes proportionally. Its stats are actually almost identical to season 2, with one more slice of life and one less hybrid, but the same amount of action/adventure. However, its worth noting of 7 of the first 9 episodes of the season are action/adventure but only 3 episodes of the entire rest of the season are. I'm not sure what the reason for this extreme imbalance is, but I think that people remember season 4 as being more action/adventure focused than it actually was due to the first third of the season. Starting with episode 10, the rest of season 4 is pretty darn slice of life!
And here is Season 5, with 8 action/adventure episodes, 8 hybrid episodes, and 10 slice of life episodes! Similar stats to seasons 2 and 4, but with more hybrids and less of the other two types.
>>43298224Quick correction on Season 2: I initially called Canterlot Wedding Part 1 action/adventure without thinking since I was thinking of the episode as a whole. But almost all of part 1 is just the wedding planning stuff until the last couple of minutes, so it should be hybrid. So here is season 2 fixed to correct for that, making its stats 9 action/adventure, 6 hybrid, and 11 slice of life!
And here are the stats! Season 4 having the highest slice of life % of the seasons was a surprise (although it also has the highest action/adventure percentage tied with season 3), and so was season 3 being such a black sheep in its lack of slice of life episodes. But I think this shows that overall the McCarthy era was not significantly different than the Faust era when it came to this topic.
>Go outside>Yup, now that's an adventure.
