Hey OP I know you're trigger-happy and all but shoot the cheese horse instead.

It's okay, I taught all the unicorns in Ponyville that if they're ever held at gunpoint they should use their telekinesis to hold the slide back just a little, then the gun won't be able to fire. These are the things you'll be expected to do as the Earth liaison to Equestria.

I remember the animator of that talking about it here and saying they just did it for money. I don't know if that's better or worse than doing it because you want to.
>>
>>43302092
I assume most higher tier artists are "doing it" for the money. Especially fetish stuff. There are exceptions of course.
>>
>>43302103
It's pretty rare for an artist to be wholly doing it for the money for the vast majority of their art, that's how you get hardcore burnout. Any artist that lasts has either found an audience that mostly wants stuff they're into or has figured out how to put as little effort into their work as possible.

Well, I mean... I will say, at least you got the reaction to being shot in the head right. In reality it's nothing like movies or games, nobody flies backward or jolts their neck, they just drop where they are, sometimes folding like a book. So at least that's realistic.

I was a combat Marine in early GWOT. 0331 enlisted late 2002 EAS'd March 2011 didn't make it to 0369. Was at Fallujah with 3/1 then stayed in and got to have fun in Afghanistan later and there for Marjah fuckery with 1/6 in 2010. You don't forget how someone is alive one second and then dead the next or how flimsy and unreal it is. So I guess I get to apply that experience on the freaking My Little Pony board critiquing fake gore. Such is life.

So basically you are saying that you graduated top of the class in the Navy Seals, and have been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and that you have over 300 confirmed kills?
>>
>>43303523
How the fuck did you appear in the situation where you are engaging enemies eye-to-eye, isn't this a maximum risk situation that must be avoided. I heard that every room should be fragged before entering it and risking to engage in direct gun fire
>You don't forget how someone is alive one second and then dead the next or how flimsy and unreal it is.

What are real urban combat encounters like? I'm sure real life is the opposite of video games, it isn't fucking Insurgency Sandstorm where enemies are always visible and encounters are at close and medium range. But maybe my guesses are wrong if you were fighting bums in flip flops and not some trained army. What is the game you know that portrays real life modern combat most accurately/closely resembling? OPERATOR maybe?

This is becoming a personal blogpost thread. If you want to know so badly go sign on the dotted line and experience it for yourself. MEPS will probably fuck you given you are posting on 4chan and thus probably autistic and thus disqualified. I at least got through before Genesis was a thing and was never diagnosed but given I haven't offed myself and wasn't as affected by it I wonder. I guess ponies just help me get over shit.

I haven't played Operator. Arma roleplays which you can watch on YT since those are often actual veterans playing is one. Six Days in Fallujah too which I've actually played with some friends. It's still a janky video game but it gets it right that you very often have absolutely no fucking idea what's going on or where the shooter is and are absolutely relying on the people to your left and right to stay alive and stay oriented. One street is totally fine and the next you're dead if you step into it. It's fucking chaotic and insane. Same as individual rooms in a house which that game also captures well. At range it's basically you hear pops then somebody says "white house with the clothes rack third story over there" and you and seven other guys shoot in bursts in the general direction until they stop shooting at you or you blow the floor up or the wall off. I rarely knew I actually hit anyone and I never killed anyone up close.

>>43303598
It is miserable hell. You don't know what you're talking about and I hope you never do.
>>
>>43303607
Do you still play/enjoy shooters after you have went through? I know most of them are bullshit, though they are fun. But at the same time I imagine how a WW2 veteran would react to a game that resembles hell he has went through and seeing how people play it casually, larp and commit in game warcrimes for fun

I mean unlike WW2 veterans I played video games both before and while I was in. We had Xboxs on base and while deployed. We played Modern Warfare and had fun. So sometimes it just is like something I've done forever and it doesn't bother me. Othertimes like even in COD there are convoy scenes and it reminds me of the constant feeling of fear I felt that we were going to get killed at random and out of nowhere. Random little things will make me remember something like with anything else I guess. Like I said with Arma people have fun and pretend even though some of them are veterans. I know some guys who can't interact with anything at all that reminds them of GWOT and barely even talk about it to me. Everybody is different.

But other times it's like who cares. I remember there's a line in Generation Kill (the book not the TV series but the TV series is real as fuck) about how one of the guys gets shot at while in a open top humvee and he just responds by firing his weapon, reloading, reengaging, the whole thing without even thinking about what he's doing. All on reflexes, all on instinct if you want to call it that. Sometimes it feels very much like a thing that barely even happened in my mind even though it was nine years. There are long stretches of time that don't really even register. I guess my point is that like my uncle hated seeing Black Ops for instance because it had some upclose and personal scenes where you slit some VC's throat while he's asleep. He had actually done shit up close so it really bothered him. Whereas I never did. What bothers me more is the sense of unknown that you get when you're farhter away.

Hey, nice to see there’s still other military members on the board. I’m Danish and joined my country’s armed forces in December 2023.
Never got the chance to deploy and have since then moved to the Homeguard.

Hey you too! I never knew any Danes personally but I saw you guys and I remember you were there unlike the retard in chief. You too man. You do mean much. Lots of young Marines now feel like shit and I've seen them talking about how their service doesn't matter because they didn't see combat. They still signed up to do so just like you did which is what counts. Or maybe your country practices conscription so you didn't have a choice. Lol. In either case.
>>
>>43303665
I’m glad to hear it mean something for ya :)
And not to get political but yeah, Danish people, especially current and former members of the armed forces are quite upset and hurt by recent events caused by the “retard in chief” as you put it. Your wording made me laugh haha.
Still, it’s weird to experience such events happening, and I can’t help but feel the future is more uncertain than ever.
Anyways, We do actually have conscription, but it’s a weird case we’re all slots are usually filled with volunteers (myself included when I signed up) so nobody ever actually gets forcefully drafted. Still, things are changing now and they are increasing the amount of yearly conscripts + how many months conscription is, due to the war and fear we aren’t prepared enough.
>They still signed up to do so just like you did which is what counts.
Agreed. What matters is stepping up and heeding the call. Many can’t say they have.
Enough about all that. I have always found it funny and in a sense endearing knowing there was a small community of military bronies, considering how different those two fields are.
As much of a shithole this place (/mlp/) is, I love it here. And I especially love when my interests cross paths, usually in unexpected ways.

Oh yeah the whole world's a shithole at this point. So this place is kind of a refuge. Although half the board belongs on /d/ honestly.

Yeah I mean even here in America where the fucking Olive Garden has military appreciation shit and you get $500 off your truck if you show them you served it's only like 6% of the populace actually have any military experience. So the vast majority can't claim it.

In my experience the military was just a hodge podge of the entire country so it's not too surprising there are other veterans who like cartoon horses. People painted WH40k figures, people read Nietzsche, people tried to kill themselves, people liked killing other people, people sounded like Maoists criticizing American imperialism and then would go out on a ruck and deliver. Others were just shitbags. I've never really been able to explain this well but you can find every type of person in the military.

Look up pic rel's archives sometimes. It says a lot.
