>>43343836don't give me hope, anon...
>>43343836>>43344267If they quoted $200 for a single plush, surely even a small run would be cheaper. Even ordering 10 or 20 is usually significantly cheaper than a single one-off. (Assuming they actually have mass fabrication capability and don't just hand-sew 10 plushies the same way they would do 1.)It'd definitely be more expensive with mane and tail, and especially embroidery if they can even do it. But it sounds realistic that if that anon works everything out and the pattern is good and works and all that, you could get lifesizes easily below $500, if not around $200-300 or so.Given this I think multiple LS runs for various ponies is unironically realistic. I bet there's more than 10 anons who'd want an LS of Luna for $300, or of Anonfilly or every M6 for that matter. The other thing is copyright which has so far been an issue for every /mppp/ run and is the reason only OCs have been done. Sounds like the LS anon wants to do ponk so maybe the shop explicitly doesn't care about copyright, that'd be really based.
What do we do if PayPal restricted our accounts? There's been a wave of bans going out lately. I was just banned a few days ago, and I personally know at least two people who've also been hit recently.Would the best solution just be to get with someone whose PayPal is still working, or is something like Zelle an option?
>>43344648The fuck is paypal doing now?
Thanks baker.>>43344510>sell "parts" of a plush (unstuffed skin, user installed mane, user installed zipper?)>don't infringe on character names (similar to adult companies)Should be fine. I don't think you can copyright strike someone for having pink hair and pink cloth in a box that doesn't explicitly state WE ARE INFRINGING! Might be a good idea to not indicate a completed product is being sold at any point. It keeps the project firmly in etsy/home project territory and not selling a product.

>>43344886It's against their ToS to pay for adult goods or services using PayPal, and I suspect they might've recently implemented an AI to audit accounts for that or something. But I can only guess. PayPal is cagey about the reasons behind these things, and they refuse to tell you exactly why your account was closed, as a matter of policy.

Update. The company does indeed do embroidery. I've been quoted $240 per unit, unstuffed, with shipping and embroidery costs included. Prototyping will run $150, so I'm looking at an initial production cost of $390. Assuming the body works out, that wouldn't need to be prototyped again. They will be providing me with the pattern after the prototyping is complete, which means I'll be able to distribute the adjusted pattern if any adjustments are done. Looking at a 3 month production time right now because they've never done this before and they're booked a month out, but after the initial one is complete they'll have a significantly reduced production timeline.Material would be minky for the body and either 3" pile faux fur or minky for the mane/tail. They didn't say there would be any difference in pricing for materials or for colors (that means you, Dashfags), though I would factor in maybe $50 just for differences in labor and material just in case. The pattern includes a pocket, so I'll talk to them about putting in a zipper internally as well as under the tail for stuffing. They take PayPal, crypto, and bank transfers. Considered facilitating orders for anons in the future, but probably will only do that if it's requested. If anyone has embroidery files or mane and tail patterns for any pony, whether or not they're the correct scale, I would be grateful if you could email them to me at srganon@protonmail.com.I'll probably be moving forward with this in the next month or so. I have a lot going on.Any questions, ideas, or considerations?
>>43346862BASED BASED BASED god tier anon.I was thinking about accessories, but tey can always be made later. Minky lower bits, crotchboobs, socks. Probably socks will be the only ones made due to the simplicity and lack of pattern for the top 2, though I'd really like the top 2 as add ons somehow.I'll let anons send embroidery files if they have them. If you dont get any shout out and ill make some. I'll definitely buy one at that price point.

There's also the possibility that it's just no good, or that prototyping takes a long time, or whatever else.>>43347705I'm not sure about this one, anon. Seems like there's a lot of moonfags and dashfags. Luna wouldn't benefit from a prototype of the regular pattern, so maybe I'll cook up a form for her, too. >>43348128Based stallion enjoyer. I would do anything for a stallion lifesize.
>>43347980I didn't see the other anon post a pattern, so I deliberately chose a public one. I also have no intention of profiting from this anyway, and this hardly qualifies as mass production. On top of that, we'll probably be modifying the pattern.I've never had a lifesize, but it's apparently a life changing experience, and I want that to be accessible to people. Not everyone can afford three grand and wait two pregnancies.>>43347907I'm going to have them add a zipper on the inner end of the pocket to make stuffing easier and an invisible zipper just under the dock for pocket access. Helps to keep it modular. If you don't want to use it to store your wallet, then use it as a way to stuff the plush. Or mine...
>>43348523Hold yer horses. This is very exciting. Let's focus on getting the first prototype developed. Anonfilly is smaller, cheaper, and more margin/volume focused on the production side. Lifesize has enough breathing room and low volume, that it's completely possible this sticks in their catalog of products. 1 Lifesize is around 40 anon fillies, and that's still 70% cheaper than a commissioned one.
*1 Lifesize is ~25 anon fillies.Sorry again for hogging your thread :X
btw this probably isn't the right thread for this, but I'm gonna wait until thursday to make a thread for the convention itself...during testing of the plush badge system, I "ordered" ten badges that say Anon Filly and then WE ARE LEIGON on them, but I don't even own ten fillies, I have 3 from the 2nd run, and 2 from the 3rd run, and I'm probably only gonna bring one or two with me. Maget Filly (this picture is not sideways!) will be there for sure.so if anyone here is coming to sunshine ponycon, bring a filly with you, and I'll hand out the remaining 8 or 9 badges to whatever green goofballs I can find, probably at the plush meet.

>>43346862I think my biggest question would be is this a factory who will ignore/isn't strict with copyrightThats what I foresee being the biggest issue since most people want a LS of their wife, not just a fandom OC they only like
>>43348442>>43348707Because of this and other factors I'd heavily recommend against doing this in this manner, especially for other people. We should focus on a life size Anonfilly, Verity, Ary etc. with Olyfactory. They already have an old life size pony pattern too that is bigger than filly life size. Then there wont be any struggles or ugliness with the detachable hair and copyright issues from Hasbro, just customs issues. The minimum is probably smaller for a large product at Oly. I remember what happened to /mpp/ and two online friends who fucked around with doing plush preorders for others. They got raped and gaped by taxes, a cease and desist and customers charging the funds back when delivery was slow. I think Oly was sued over the official characters but cant recall. The new customs laws make things so much worse for the shipping and customs clearance of bootlegs of copyrighted designs. Sometimes authentic and inauthentic cartoon and game toys/merch/items are referred to as "2B" (or some variant thats an equal label or name) products in China, it means popular, recognizable IP. Since at least 2024 2B items are more expensive to ship in general, some shipping lines refused to carry them. As of July 2026, the new satanic customs laws make this impossible to do safely, 2B (authentic and not) and plush toys (ANY kind, dakis too, unstuffed or not) are put under an ungodly amount of scrutiny, even from valid anime companies. If you touch money, you'll be on the hook to refund everyone who had their mail away brides stolen by customs! I hate to be a neighsayer but you are sticking your neck out so much anon, holy shit. I'd feel bad not warning you and I'd wanna be warned by someone who was familiar if I missed some oversights on doing something new and risky.By the way, I'm not just saying that because I want one of these OCs to be first or anything. I don't have space or money to get any life size. My roommate would probably lynch me over a life size plush.
>>43348695... Are you talking about what this threads about or something else? Because read the fucking OP if you're talking about the OP.
>>433487271. Ideally this will be parts of a plush and not a completed plush, so it should sidestep import regulations on plush toys.2. He won't be taking orders. He is working with the factory to prototype. When orders are made everyone will order directly from the factory I'm assuming. No liability or tax burden on him. 3. Nobody has confirmed if they are fine with copyright, but this can also attempt to be sidestepped with customization options and removable manes. To defeat the griffon you must think like the griffon.
>>43349246It sadly doesn't. It really blows. Customs took my buddies unstuffed life size lucario and it was last month before these new crazy rules. He says he knew of a few other similar cases so he had them mark it as a gift but that it didn't help. They took my anime figures too, from a legit company that I previously never had issues with. Felt like blowing my shit off after losing 400 in figures. I think more people need to harass our senators to fight to remove these bullshit rules. Twitter and Facebook say that customs is more inclined to steal fandom shit because it's worth money and this new law/rule covers their ass, and that NSFW items are at an even higher risk but they straight up throw them away and try to fine or even jail you if you're in a shithole like Asshole-stralia that has its motherfucking own set of rules. I hope to get out of my tiny apartment and get a LS one day. I just really hate the idea of the detachable hair. Symbiote has talked about selling life size mares. I feel like we'll start seeing that in like a year or so and we'll get our wives through them eventually for no risks for copyright problems (which still leaves customs issues even if the rules reduce or drop because they're bootlegs) or current high scale customs theft. I like how symbiote said they really want to cover every character that got a speaking role. While i dont expect that range for life size plushies i think they'll give us every popular mare and in the maximum best quality. I want us to do this right, with oly or symbiote. Oly can do ocs if symbiote wont but i think symbiote did the marefair plushies. While this project here is a neat idea if no one supports them when it comes around they'll pull the plug on the whole thing and we lose our biggest chance for great looking cheap life sizes. I really dont trust a company who only makes faceless human plushies to make a good looking quadruped with so much detail or customs not to fuck us any time throughout 2026 in the current climate. Oly will share issues that I mentioned but they've at least made a life size pony once and it had attached hair. Just sharing my 2 cents.

>>43348727Appreciate the warning, anon. I'll read up.Minor update; they said if ordering multiple units, they can quote a new price, and if the order is large enough, they can ship by sea freight instead, which would reduce shipping costs further (and presumably increase shipping time). So I guess you guys are free to argue amongst yourselves, but to be clear, I'm still doing this, I'll work out whatever needs to be worked out, and I'll post updates as they come. I think qtpony is the best starting point if anon's chosen pattern doesnt work out. I'm sure the factory will also be happy to make requested adjustments for a fee. I'm sure they will also like the instructions for doing stuff they have never done before, like the mane.
>>43351141>Im worried about fan projects eating symbiotes lunch then we trade off best maximum quality for a small discount in priceThis is either disingenuous or ignorant. All claims of poor Chinese quality are pointless now. Where do you think symbiote manufactures? Its not america. The only difference is their pattern quality (previously made by a taiwaneese guy iirc), and licensing. Its also not a small price decrease. Its up to 90%. Worst case scenario we develop a product, the manufacturer says no due to copyright, then we approach symbiote (who already has a license) with a completed product. Only thing symbiote would refuse is the pocket, unless they pretended it was a service port like tripgod suggested.
