This project looked incredibly promising before Hasbro DMCAed everything related to the project. It seems they're taking the TFH route by making NDoH into an original indie animation instead under Studio Whim: https://www.studiowhimofficial.com/
>>
>this fan project had a lot of promise and now it's going to be an all-original series with a fraction of the character appeal
Shocker.
>>

So long as horses are still involved I will keep an eye on it tbdesu

Hasbro made the right call here actually

Did it though

a tale as old as time

>>43345632
I wouldn't have watched it with those ugly ass redesigns anyways
>>
>>43345632
Will the horses have visible pussy, ponuts, and teats?

As someone who wants to do my own fan animation series, and looked into this when I heard of it being shuttered,
I want to clarify something:

This was never officially C&D'd.
A few videos on YouTube got taken down through the usual YouTube system.
Whoever was running this project apparently shit their pants over it and decided to retool the whole thing "just in case".
Guess it shows how committed they actually were to FiM...

Anyways, I don't mind it being gone. They (kinda literally) were gonna massacre my spunky scooter girl.
>>
>>43345632
This looks like shit and I wouldn't have watched it but still, fuck Hasbro.
>>
>>43345632

The world spiritually ended in 2012, just as the Mayans predicted. We've been in Hell ever since.

Hasbro didn't do shit. The creatives abandoned the project when youtube copyright takedowns happened. This was documented knowledge at the time. What the fuck are you smoking you banana nigger? Or are you simply a collossal newfag too late to the party?

Not horses. Shit design. Glad it didn't go through, because if the character designers couldn't pay enough attention to get that right, then I know for a fact the show writers wouldn't.
>>
>>43346614
That's what I knew, but apparently someone's claiming they actually ARE doing outright DMCAs now?
Quite unusual if true, since Hasbroke's never done formal DMCA's before AFAIK.
>>
>>43345943
Ok.... And? Did someone archive their content before it was pulled?
>>

I was actually trying to point out that I don't think it was the typical Hasbro takedown.

No it didn't.
It's just a zoomshit redesign AU that wasn't even supposed to be an animation, but at best a voiced comic.

The videos taken down were just bullshit announcements without any real content.

>>
>>43345632
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if this was the plan. The flagrant IP theft to get attention, both from the fans and Hasbro, getting dickslapped by corporate, and then they're just like "darn, gosh, don't worry guys, we're still going to do this show, just with our OCs now!"
>>
>>43345700
The redesigns are honestly so close to being "okay" is the worst part. Just get rid of the random bits of color on the bellies and snouts and they'd work.

Though personally I thought Rainbow looked a bit too feminine, now.
>>
>>43345735
do you need original puppet rigs for that project?
>>
>>43348779
Hasbro allegedly went after their Patreonbux, of course they're gonna shit their pants.
>>
>>43348841
Makes sense. It would be dumb of them to think hasbro would be okay with this, especially if they’re making money off of it. They had to have known this was most certainly a possibility.
I do like the project’s ambition, even if I hate the direction of it and the fact that those ambitions will probably never be realistically met. It’s not like hasbro makes good content either.
>>
>>43346298
>WHY IS EVERYTHING THROUGH DISCORD NOW
Forums were never good. Collaboration on projects was never done through forums.
Discord replaced IRC and has good enough persistence of information that forums are no longer needed.
Your butthurt about it being proprietary and centralized is irrelevant. It has strictly better usability.
>>
>>43348916
Of course. These people only do things for money and not the love of the art after all.
>>
>>43349079
Look at this retard and laugh.
>>
>>43345632
I hate how foid and furfag-made alt designs always try to reinvent the wheel, but end up looking gross by adding too much detail and gay coloration.
>>
>>43349079
>Your butthurt about it being proprietary and centralized is irrelevant. It has strictly better usability.
no google indexing of Discuck servers automatically makes "persistence of information" irrelevant
>>
>>43349456
Doesn't any link to media on Discord also break after a while? Some persistence.
>>
>>43349460
>Doesn't any link to media on Discord also break after a while?
I think they changed it sometime in 2020s
I remember one small static site using discord files for its images (why) and it broke after a while lol
>>
>>43349456

>>
>>43349600
There was no content, it was just meet the team and Q&A bullshit.
>>
>>43349661
So they literally have no content yet at all? And the "artists" responsible are sparkledog dramawhores as in >>43348790? Okay, confirmed dead on arrival, these people just make grandiose claims without ever delivering on them for attention.

I do *have* a collection of leaked FLA assets (mainly for color code purposes), but they aren't really gonna be useful as rigs for two reasons:
1) I'm probably gonna use OpenToonz or some other free software, instead of the absolute dumpsterbucket that Adobe Animate is.
2) I'm intending to do a mild redesign of the ponies, mainly to make several logical fixes in the design (Vid rel).
So any way you slice it, the rigs need a full rebuild.

That said, I've been kinda sitting on this redesign project for a few years now, mainly because I can't get 3/4 to look right, even after dozens of tests.
Some anon several months ago suggested using circles to help judge the basic position, and while it's good advice, I ain't looking forward to doing it...

unfortunately, from EXPERIENCE making it look right in 3d space... making it "perfect" will be one heck of a goose chase and you will figuratively kill yourself in the middle of it. i give you a heart to heart counsel: please do not do that! and its not telling you to do it wrong, its because your brain will not see it and will fill in the gap. if you insist in doing it, you will never finish it or your creative drive will vanish in the middle of it, or you will feel hopeless that no one will perceive the difference on these extra details.
>>
>>43349774
but hey, i am always lurking /create/ thread, if you need a help with opentoonz, i can do something
>>
>>43350004
Good to know. I probably will need bits of help in the future, once I finally get to the OpenToonz stage of things. :P
>>
>>43350004
>opentoonz
is it any good? I want to learn animation but no way in hell am I paying for toonboom
>>
>>43352149
it will scare you at first glance, because the program is complex, but once you stabilish a workflow, you will see that it was worth it
it is open-source, but it already has 10 years of development and bug-fixes
>>
>>43352149
I highly recommend to go with Tahoma2D. It's a fork of Opentoonz with some nice quality of life features.
It depends on what you want to do with animation. Opentoonz (Tahoma2D) can do puppet rigs, but it's star feature is it's great frame by frame support.
If you haven't even started animating, it's a great option to use. It's very capable and there's no point in spending money on an expensive application if you don't know you'll even stick with it.

Unfortunately, for me, drawing inside it feels horrible. It's brushes are lacking and there is some latency with drawing. Also transforms will straight up ruin your line art. In my opinion, it's a good animation application, but a horrible drawing application.
>>
>>43352291
So, better to use it for vector puppets, essentially?
>>
>>43352291
>>43352377 (checked)
Shit, now I'm real curious about looking at animation software for making ponies. I've been practicing with /bale/ stuff in Krita and it's been really fun, and I'm even familiar with doing frame-by-frame animation in Krita, but trying a traditional Flash puppet style someday sounds super fun. Are pony puppets just available online for this stuff? Because that'd make for a fantastic starting point for learning.
>>
>>43352291
i saw crowneprince's video on it, which is basically, "welcome to tahoma2D! it's all suffering from here on out." at least, it certainly seemed that way.

Honestly, I don't know what they were expecting
They were constantly posting ads and updates about the project on various social media platforms, and without any sense of shame they were showcasing the main cast and presenting it as some kind of sequel.
Really, I don't know what else they were expecting other than Hasbro telling them not to do it
When you realize they never actually got around to doing anything and it was all just announcements about some big project in the works, you realize it was just a group of friends who know how to make promotional edits, trying to larp like they’re the next big web series studio
>>
>>43352752
>Hasbro telling them not to do it
All of the other stuff you said I can shrug at, but weren't they selling merch or something tied to the project, too? If they were actively advertising it in their videos then I could see that being really scuffed lmao. I'm super removed from this whole situation though, don't really know much about it.
