Shining Armor has the "realization" that they're related even though he's been to court over her no less than twice, Twilight and Trixie learn absolutely nothing, Celestia and Luna are barely present, etc etc. There are some decent jokes, but it felt painfully obvious to me that he's just refusing to make any changes to the characters. Everything just moved back closer to the status quo with the exception from fractured, who we now see is just flawless 2.

And, of course, Arinos wanting to break free from his corruption and believing that having a new body would probably fix it. But after some reflection, I think the disability allegory works much better when viewed as a parent-child relationship.There's something that's just so interesting about it that I haven't mentioned before. The role that Friendship has and how he tries so desperately to conceal the reason for the corruption, despite suspecting it might be his fault. It reads as a parent who knows he passed on a hereditary disease to his son and feels guilty about it, so he tries to hide the reason by ignoring his son's needs. They believe that if they let their son know that they might be the cause of their illness they would blame them for all their pain. And that's something that feels so real. I never noticed that detail. How Arinos has his "clown seizures" and describes his hatred for the body and mind he was given. I was confused about Friendship's possessiveness towards Arinos and how selfish it was not to let him be freed from his magical bonds by allowing him to wish for a new body that would have cured him. But I think that thematically what this represents is that Arinos wanted to free himself from the ties with his "father" and from everything that he had given him, including his illness/corruption. Kinda like how someone would resent their parents if they've been condemned with a real life disability with no fault of their own. And Friendship not wanting to cut their ties with him because despite everything they still want that connection with their "son". And the only reason why he would hide it from him was the fear that they'll resent them. So cutting their ties wouldn't have been the best outcome at least thematically. As I thought before. They mention Friendship's trust issues a couple times during the movie. When he refuses to open up to Braeburn about his problems. While I also assume he wouldn't open up to Arinos about the reason of his illness/corruption prior. So just like in a real life setting sometimes there's no real magic cure for the disabilities or illnesses you may have and you'll simply have to cope with your circumstances. But refusing to acknowledge them or seek help you can harm yourself or even worse the people who depend on you.

Between Apple Bottom's whole pony-type-as-metaphor-for-gender deal, Package's Father's muteness, Prince Kirin's arm, Prof Kirin's height, both Soarins' two and a half incher situation, Friendship's initial distress with his own existence, and whatever the fuck you want to call what's going on with Clean Sweep, It's certainly a very conspicuous trend. I stayed up until like 2am last night watching "The Death of Trixie Lulamoon" synced with "Dark Side of The Moon". It's imperfect but honestly I really recommend it. They have their fair share of "mari bullying", but if you stopped immediately after flawless farts a portal I think you might be underestimating their relationship a little bit. It's abusive and harrowing, but I think that makes it interesting as Mari gets deeper into it. It's not just bullying for no reason. Unfortunately, tamers kinda dropped the ball on it and their relationship has been corrected too far back to the status quo lately, but between farts a portal and abyss I think it's pretty good. Sweetie Belle in Love is also great, although based on your faves I'm less sure of how you'd like it. It doesn't sound like you're into the yaoi stuff but I also highly recommend that too, it's pretty cool. Other than that, you should try rewatching TDoTL synced up with Dark Side of the Moon, it's actually really fun. I doubt tamers did it on purpose, but the ending is absolutely crazy with it.

I've been going back to watch SU for the first time after discovering him through MLP. The episodes are interesting from an artistic perspective, but watching just for the plot or the jokes would make them kind of tiresome. There's the occasional episode that draws me in, usually by taking itself seriously to the point of absurdity or by presenting an endearingly strange take on an existing property as a crossover episode. Even rarer are the ones that have stories that I genuinely like quite a bit, like the bakery episode. I don't think I would have enjoyed watching it on its original release schedule because finding the good stuff would take so long and the rest of the episodes are pretty sparse with things that I find noteworthy. Even in MLP where it's more plot-dense, I feel that tamers is best experienced with a curated episode list. There's only so many extremely played out edgy jokes I'm willing to sit through with no payoff. But when it hits, you can tell there's something special there, and either due to the change in source material or their improvement as artists, I think MLP is better at drawing it out.

I decided to check out the MLP stuff on a whim around Pinkie Pie and Rarity Bake Halloween Cookies because I figured "you know, I really don't care about the original Sonic Underground, either," and I thought I'd watch one or two episodes. 30 hours later, I had binged the entire series up to that point in one go. The only "break" i took was after Soarin and Braeburn, that shit fucked me up so hard that I just sat there and stared at my screen for three hours straight processing the pure kino that I had just witnessed. I will forever regret doubting Tamers, the greatest artist of our generation, and getting into this so late when I had the opportunity to get in on the ground floor.
