So let me get this straight, Only mares are rulers, can be alicorns, and theres no strength imbalance between gender. shouldn't it be the opposite if anything? Idk if they even have a word for it...
>>43407463So, basically, you don't know what the fuck chivalry is, you don't understand the culture that spawned it, but you have an opinion.

>>43407493Care to explain? I thought it was just men have the power so be nice and provide to women and hold the door open for them.
>>43407601First, you have to understand what it means to own a horse. Start from there. Chival, ne?
I'd be chivalrous for a mare. Never for a modern Western femoid, though.
>>43407463Because you touch yourself at night.
>>43407628I do not.
>why would a feminist fantasy cartoon disrespect men and chivalry?it's a mystery...
>>43407629day fapping should be treated like day drinking
>>43407463>>43407601In its strictest sense, chivalry is the discipline of riding horses (being derived from the French for horse, cheval). In its classical sense, it was a code of conduct that varied between chivalric orders for knights - horse riders - to follow, since they were killing machines and could easily become pompous because of their power levels. So the Code of Chivlary emphasised knights as defenders of the faith by upholding virtues of gallantry against the enemy and courtesy to those they're to protect, such as women. The modern concept of chivlary is a diluted form of this appealing to an abstraction of noble masculinity, and is ultimately just a byword for courtesy so there's no real contradiction by having it in Equestria, especially since afaik most if not all the guards and soldiers are stallions and Queens don't override the standard.I think if there is to be a standardised code of chivalry in Equestria, it probably already exists in the tenets of Friendship, since Gautier's Commandments line up nicely with those standards, what with emphasising generosity (give largesse), honesty (never lie), loyalty (fight for king and country), magic (roughly defend the faith), and kindness (defend the weak).
>>43407463Sombra?
>>43407920There are 100% Mare guards, even if they aren't a majority. I just don't see that concept being gendered because the mares are as physically capable as the stallions. Unlike our world where women are biologically weaker and therefore needed protection back then. I would even say on average the show depicts mares as more powerful.
>>43408054Headcanon. Mares are canonically weaker built than stallions (joke characters don't count). What leverages the playing field is unicorns and their magic (guns).
>>43408080>leveragesLevels, I mean.
>>43408054Which is why I said "most, if not all," since I can't remember exactly, let alone ones with speaking roles. Granted, that really doesn't change what I said, it just shifts the source of the behaviour to a cultural semi-biological imperative rather than a purely biological one, since risking the lives of mothers isn't a smart move even if they're just as powerful and a few mares doesn't impact that. Even then, beyond that, I can't really think of a mare outside of the Princesses in a high position of martial command or politics. Other than Spitfire.>I just don't see that concept being genderedWell, it depends on what exactly we're talking about. If it's the noble courtesy culture then I think it's reasonable to suppose a gendered expectation, since it's a romantic ideal - which ponies seem big on - and stallions are depicted as being more aristocratically dominant, outside of the few demi-goddesses at the top, e.g. Fancy Pants. If it's the code of conduct, then yeah it doesn't make sense, but that's why Friendship™ is the equivalent.>I would even say on average the show depicts mares as more powerfulMaybe, but beyond the Alicorns and Starlight I doubt it, since Sombra and Star Swirl are shown to be among the most powerful/capable Unicorns, nevermind 3/6ths and the most forward of the Pillars of OE are male. Not that mares are necessarily weaker, but stallions definitely aren't pushovers.
As Equestria is based on our world, I believe Equestria is patriarchal, just like our society generally is. Even with our feminism and equal rights, wives still generally take their husband's last name, men generally are the heads of house, much more men have power than women, much more women stay at home to raise kids while their husbands provide, and men are generally expected to be dominant and initiate (men are expected to propose for example). I don't see why Equestria would be different than our society on any of this. I'd say modern western society is legally egalitarian but culturally patriarchal, and Equestria seems to be the same way.
>>43408116>I believe <headcanon with zero facts to back it up>
>>43408116>wives still generally take their husband's last name>men generally are the heads of house>much more men have power than women>much more women stay at home to raise kids while their husbands provide>men are generally expected to be dominant and initiateWhy don't you post a single example for each of those points happening in the society ruled by 2 milennia old demi-godesses that quite literally move the heavens.
>>43408116>I believe Equestria is patriarchalA patriarchal society ruled by two immortal mares?
>>43408139NTA, I agree with you but it was only one demi-goddess. Luna got her ass banished to the moon pretty quickly, and was forgotten about by the time of the show.
>>43408279The worst part of Luna's banishment was that it proved she was completely unnecessary, because Equestria functioned perfectly fine with Celestia raising both the sun and the moon. Nu-writers tried to make up for this with the hamfisted dreamwalking stuff, but that's the same kind of crap as giving Earth ponies plant powers.
I would never simp. Not even for a mare.
>>43408116Mares rule Equestria and you'd get a collar snapped on you the second you spawn in
>>43408419Nooo! I bet..I bet my new owner Sweetie would make me do all kinds of gross stuff like lick her ponut and cum in her foal hole ahhhh!! Noo!
>>43408299Why do you equate mares to human women? Why are you so obsessed with human women that you superimpose their behavior onto females of every species?
>>43408428Because secretly he still wants to get with a human woman.
>>43408428Because I'm not stupid enough to fall for their tricks. Love isn't real and dating is a humilation ritual.>>43408435>Projecting

>>43408462And?
>>43408096I can see that, Guys still find themselves easily sacrificed when things get tough because no one wants to risk the life of a pregnant mare. And rich noble stallions taking multiple wives to sire children in the past. Mares wouldn't really have a reason for multiple husbands. So I guess it still managed to seep through in their history despite both genders being physically equal in strength.>>43408080Applejack and Rainbow dash or even the entire wonder bolts are joke characters?
Reminder that women absolutely hate simps. Unironically the mares-only diehards are more likely to attract a woman's interest (sadly) than a simp ever would.

>>43408466Hopefully one day the world will see that he was right about everything
What if chivalry is just the standard because almost every mare is like Rarity (to some extent) in that they don't like doing many physical things themselves because they'll chip a hoof or get dirty (unpretty). A weak justification sure, but their society seems to function just fine the way they're doing things. It definitely helps that they live in a children's cartoon where real women and contentious gender dynamics don't exist.
>>43409823Even in the mane 6 there are 2, arguably 3, ponies that don't fit your stereotype, so no.
>>43409865Actually, thinking it over, none of them besides Rarity fit your prissy woman stereotype. Fluttershy works with animals, and everyone who does knows that is dirty work, Pinkie Pie is a baker, which is also a messy job, and Twilight has many examples where she didn't have a problem getting rough. Even in season 1 she charged at the hydra. Your argument is complete nonsense.
>>43409869you're conflating two arguments here>chivalry exists because mares prefer not to get their hoofs dirtyvs>chivalry exists because mares refuse to get their hoofs dirtyas if charging a hydra in a life-or-death scenario is an everyday occurrence that societal standards and mannerisms would be shaped around. Mares can still have their preference not to get dirty but selectively eschew or ignore that preference when it is opportune to do so (e.g. if it's a required task or if there's no stallion around to dote on you)
>>43409877So basically you're arguing that mares would be vapid "do my work for me boy" whores. No.
>>43409882to some extent, I said. And it really doesn't need to be so malicious. A mare expecting a stallion to hold a door open for her doesn't make her a whore, does it?also>implyingdo you have a counter theory or any other arguments or not? I won't waste my (you)'s on your sorry ass
>>43409895Good, because your headcanon is cancer.
>>43409896You're obviously extremely invested in this argument because your escapism into this setting hinges on how well you are able to divorce mares from real women and their behaviors, cognitive dissonance be damned.last (you) for real this time
>>43409895>>43409869Maybe we're over analyzing where this "chivalry" is coming from. Rarity could have just read a prince charming book and its more of a niche case and it isn't a society built expectation. At least theres way more nuance than in our world.
>>43409900To be fair mares have snowpity. Which is a big difference.
>>43409900>last (you) for real this timeKek sure
>>43409904Nuh uh, mares are just pony versions of real women, deal with it chud, instead of using mares for your incel escapist fantasy lol can I have sex now m'lady?
>>43409924COPE, SNOWPITY FOREVERRRRRR
>>43409901>Rarity could have just read a prince charming book and it's more of a niche caseI agree, since I said something to that effect>>43408096>it's a romantic ideal - which ponies seem big onBut it's pretty clear that it's really only in the upper crust, and specifically the aristocracy, that "chivalry" is practiced, but so is the rest of upper crust culture like proper diction and gentlemanly sports etc. It was only at the Grand Galloping Gala it was emphasised and subverted through Blueblood and none of the other Mane Six seem to care for it. Whatever its roots, it really just seems to be something practiced by the aristocracy and idealised by those seeking upwards mobility or too deep in romance/fantasy, such as Spike. It's definitely not that complicated.I will add, I think the meta reason for this friction is due to the clash of cultures that Canterlot/Ponyville represent: aristocratic British high society against democratic smalltown America. I, at least, got the impression they drew on the archetypal Britain to give Canterlot a distinctly refined feel as the regal seat of government, which would involve a more pronounced form of courtesy Ă la chivalry, whereas in the rest of Equestria it exists in its more casual form, especially so for the frontier settlements.Unless I'm forgetting something obvious, that is.
Anyone got that pic of Celestia laying on Anon on top of a couch like a giant dog? With a caption saying something like "she's 1080 pounds, she decides when the hug ends" or something like that.
