They themselves get more powerful from the fighting, and both the sirens intensifying the song and the feelings generated by the fighting puts the ponies into a deeper state of control and a deeper state of disharmony. Windigos seem to instantly lose their power once the emotional state is broken, whereas sirens seem to have a much deeper personal reserve/wellspring like the other big monsters.
