If it's taken for granted that ponies can sing well technically, then a good singer would be one with high creative expression as opposed to focusing on stuff like breath control, enunciation, and everything else that goes into the 'work' of singing. Musicians likewise would not be valued for their physical ability, but more in the sense of being knowledgeable about music theory, sound tech, and other 'production' skills. Composition, improvisation, and general creative ability would be seen as far less important. That would be the vocalist's job.
