How do we handle the fact that AI artists grow faster than regular artists in the fandom these days? Should we get a campaign going to promote regular artists? You don't see anywhere near the same level of undeserved ego from a programmer, or even a writer, as you see from someone making doodles. It is why AI chafes many of them so much, I've seen more than one confess that knowing AI can generate images easily makes them want to throw it all away. >>43522176It makes one wonder why artists even complain about AI like it's going to actually replace them. 99% of AI art is still the same boring shit as it was last year and the year before that. Even if you are a technically weak artist, the ability to come up with even a modicum of a creative idea or adding a unique flair to your drawings automatically makes you better than nearly all AI generated stuff.

>>43522436>If AI artists are to gain any respectI don't want respect. I want to make cute ponies. I don't care about anyone's opinion on that matter.
>>43522417You're technically right. But consider that most people who are motivated enough to learn to draw do so because they want to be able to get their fun, creative ideas onto paper. It goes without saying that there are both creative and uncreative makers of AI and non-AI art.I believe that having an understanding of what brings a good art piece together lets you see better where you can push the limits and come up with interesting things, no matter what you are making. It is no wonder that the best AI artists are also capable of doing traditional art if they really wanted to.
>>43522436I mean, regular artists CAN animate episodes, but uh...
>>43522459Yeah, this right here is the main reason people are turning to AI.
>>43522459With how much of this kind of shit still gets drawn and put in the limelight, I'm suddenly optimistic about AI drowning these fags out.
>>43522459It all makes sense now
>>43522459oh please, those "people" CAN'T reanimate an episode. That's why they had to split it up into a million tiny fragments so each artist could self-fellate with their own style. It isn't a team of people coming together with discipline to make a cohesive fan-project. The advantage of multi animator projects like that though is that for every dogshit nigger humanisation in there, there was at least one other decent artist who is already way better at animation than whatever AI is currently capable of. Picking out the worst artists as a reason why the average artist is worse than AI is idiotic, and telling of your incapability to appreciate nice things when you see them. Maybe if you weren't so sensitive and fixated on the worst things people can put on paper with a pen, you would be able to see that most artists are still better than AI.
>>43522452Hey, this is a shitpost thread. You're not supposed to make sense in here. But yeah. Judge images by how they are, their composition, and the idea behind them instead of the tools used to make them. You can do more than boring trash and goonslop but you have to put your mind into it and go through a bit of effort to both help the AI out with what it can't do and fix its mistakes.

>>43522020>solo95% of art is solo mare. I look at my clop folder and it's almost all solo mareThe funny thing is, almost all of them are in 2 poses. Presenting or spread. AI isn't creative because porn isn't creative. The one thing that sets her apart is everything being top notch quality. I look at my clop folder and it's honestly garbage compared to top tier AI artists these days. The pussies are a variety of mangled. The faces and noses are rarely good. I've considered just deleting it outside of like 10 artists I like but I'm keeping it around for personal archive purposes and because I spent way too long autistically archiving and naming thousands of pieces of clop.
>>43522954That might just be your taste in clop. Only about 50% of my folder is solo. Even out of the solo images I've got they're all interesting by virtue of style, pose, setting, etc. All of my images are identifiable to me independently, like I could be thinking of one with no chance of getting it confused for another. That novelty is what's really important for my tastes. AI stuff looks nice at first but gets boring quickly and most significantly ends up being too samey.
>>43522954My problem with AI is just that it inherits the average and produces the average. As far as horse pussy goes, the average is not great, it tends to look like a bolted-on innertube shape, see shino for example. Very few artists do it with the 'exceptional' quality I expect, and AI simply never reaches 'above average' in terms of the minutiae of the pony form. It's only the exceptional and thus the personal that interests me about art in the first place, and AI doesn't produce that.
>>43522979p.s. I looked up shino on ponerpics to confirm I was remembering right and it's literally 30+ images of stallions, futa, and human loli before one single visible horse pussy. wtf man

>>43522989>>43522979I love stoic too, but like most regular artists he's always had issues with facial anatomy, and honestly the pone vag has never been that great. I tried to find some of his better ones in my folder. https://files.catbox.moe/ln3wo2.jpgMeanwhile an AI editor is going to drop top quality. I'd argue it's like steroids in that case. Natural look great when they peak, and everyone applauds their effort, but they aren't winning any competitions that way. Inject a little LLM and stuff hits a new level of base quality. From there the AI editor uses those art skills to take it to the next level every time. To me, face and pussy are the first things my eyes go to. If either are off it ruins the piece. I sucked it up for a decade with brony art. Now a handful of AI artists (Cloudmid, Celjewnia, Goblintide, Ramprover to name a few) constantly drop god tier clop. Goblintide and CM out of those have a great variety too. Both have fun captions, loads of pairs and threesomes, a variety of toys and settings. I honestly don't think there's a pose or concept that hasn't been done between the two of them.

>>43523176I mean those are okay, but they are so bland. To me stoic's faces look a good deal better. The princesses in your example have normal pony faces rather than alicorn ones, the ponuts have that weird ring/lump around the bottom (the one fandom artists hallucinated from not using references), the ponut and vulva looks inflated like an innertube even when being stretched, and they look bolted-on and out of place from too much contrast. Sure this is all nitpicks, but it's the same nitpicks I have for every single AI image I've seen. Varied compositions and pairings etc are not interesting when they're made of bland details with the same flaws and benefits I've seen a million times before.Maybe they *are* god tier in terms of consistency, but that goes both ways, it means they never do anything interesting or revolutionary. Like, the whole idea of 'base quality' is beside the point, no matter how far you push it, it's all in the same lane and the whole appeal of art is to explore and be novel. I would like to see an example of an AI focused artist who actually does go above and beyond - or rather horizontal - to the middling AI standard and does something unique/individually expressive. 'Quality' with no personal vision is just a waste of time.
>>43523226i used to fall for the neural net narrative that became more an excuse, really models are what they are-digital art, where a guy without skill will edit in gimp the colors of their character or alter an image, the closest thing to AI they use is the magic wand's ability to spot patterns and colors in a picture to change it, or adjust pose, repeat a background.I was totally hyped for AI but it's a smokescreen for preserving a fake bubble market. Copyright laws are obsolete and should have been abolished as soon people could make mixtapes or sample existing music. Artist: Make lots of art. Some artists share and draw free requests. Most sell commissions. When you sell a commission, you keep all the profit and no one else benefits. Most fandom artists even the ones who call themselves leftists have always been capitalists the moment they put restrictive copyright or licenses on their media or code.Redistributing, training, sharing, and remixing lets people who don’t have your skill (a skill that often comes with privilege) create something almost like you do.Every democracy has some taxation. This won’t affect you much you’ll just see more art.The impact of AI on artists is small because AI artists are still a minority.People need a sona or a design for their identity. Not everyone can afford commissions.AI is a solution for people who used to rely on sliders in digital editing apps.Putting a signature and watermark on your art makes you selfish.Teaching someone to draw and expecting them to put in the same effort, while assuming they have the same abilities, is even worse it makes people feel inferior and is patronizing.Embrace AI if you love art more than yourself and your profits.Be a pathetic elitist little shit who makes people feel miserable just because the skills you acquired over years give you status. >i don't have the money to commission an artist>spends thousands on AI
>>43526509>One graphics card that cost me 400 bucks>Infinite supply of imagesDunno, seems like a sound investment to me.
>>43526509>people would rather spend thousands on a water boiler than interact with your wonderful personality for three emailsFunnily enough real artists aren't effected since they basically just do advertising work for small businesses so this sort of thing hardly impacts them at all
>>43526503Recoloring or photoshopping art isn't copying. it's altering existing art.
>>43526514You are constantly copying other artists by referencing other people's art with your mind. If you didn't your art would look like those drawings people made in the Middle Ages.
>>43526527This isn't how “AI” art works but that's ok.>>43526394Indeed.>>43526513That's correct.Honestly, a real company that needs high-resolution images for print and logos still can’t rely on AI. The only “AI” most professional artists will use is Adobe Illustrator.Artists were supposed to be replaced, but they won’t be. A lot of us hoped AI art would grow into a real revolution, but the hype died years ago. It won mostly through propaganda, and because the early development never had enough real energy behind it, the whole thing faded fast. AI art is still a minority practice. It could have gone differently, but the people who keep pushing it are mostly coomers. That said, I still think the right thing about machine learning (or “stealing,” or legalizing heavy editing) is that it should challenge copyright law and cut down the power that a few top artists hold over every fandom. It forces them to share a little of that control.Do you really think most people pay taxes on art commissions? Exactly. So whether it’s through AI or some other means, a little exploitation of artists makes sense to anyone with a conscience, it forces them to share.A fandom or all art communities should be collectivistic. Artists are capitalists, they generate value with little investment and hold the monopoly on creative output. That should cut social tensions and frustration between fans and artists.
>>43526555>Honestly, a real company that needs high-resolution images for print and logos still can’t rely on AI.Do you live under a rock? Half of all ads are now AI generated. 100% of new small business logos, posters, promotional materials and shit are AI. Nobody gives a shit about any artifacts or how it looks.
>>43521285The faces I can kind of understand because it has so much to draw from and getting a face "right" is just matter of being on model but in a different style, but AI seems to do equine forelegs better than many artists and I don't understand why.
>>43522417>>43522491gen a glimmy one please
>>43526726Weird way to spell Trixie
>>43526726>>43526727Here's a quick version. Doing it proper would take too long for right now so just deal with the errors and them sitting in the snow instead of on the bench.
>>43526778Glimmy cute!!
>>43520578...you know those 8k followers are *also* AI, right?
>>43522459>Twilight is near!?>Hey, you guys, Twilight is near!
43526509As someone who spends most of my free time and energy making style LoRAs and building datasets from as many artists as I can find, I can tell you AI art is not free. Just like editing images was never free. It's still cheaper than an Adobe Creative Cloud or Clip Studio/Procreate subscription, though. Hardware is the biggest cost, but the time sinks hard too.Digging for the right images, hunting down old or alternate styles, cutting out wrong characters, running endless tests locally, sending them to others only to get torn apart in feedback, starting over, crying a little, finding the one garbage image in the dataset that was dragging everything down, filling the gaps with whatever works, scrubbing out signatures and Patreon watermarks like the last desperate cash-grabs they are, then uploading it to Civitai... all so people can get something for maybe 20% of what a commission from the original artist would cost. It's a grind, but it's also social. You share models, people test them, iterate together, and the whole fandom gets more tools. That's liberating. Traditional artists just want to keep the gate locked and the prices high.>>43526394The mere existence of copyright already shows how selfish and possessive a lot of these so-called creative minds are. The fact they defend it so hard proves they care more about protecting their ego than actually feeding the community. And that's not even the worst part.Artists who are actually good have usually been drawing for over a decade, since school or earlier. When they smugly say "just learn to draw," it's pure patronizing gatekeeping and enslaving. Most fans will try, fail, and quit. When they do "help," they just clone themselves: "draw the pony like this, shapes like that, legs bend this way, eyes like that." People clap, the fan drops every other hobby, and suddenly their entire life is trying (and mostly failing) to become a lesser version of that artist. What they never admit is that a lot of them are reclusive nerds who checked out of normal media, games, social life, everything. They barely even enjoy each other's company. And the biggest lie of all? Drawing your own porn is a massive boner-killer. You can't have that with AI art because you don't have spent hours correcting the genitalia size. It shows up naturally.I'm all-in on AI art. It's the first thing that actually feels open and shared instead of locked behind commissions and attitude. But looking at how things are going lately and always waiting for updates that are never fulfilling promises (PDV7, Zoinks etc). the whole scene is starting to fray. Models get restricted, datasets get nuked, platforms panic, and the same old artist crowd is cheering for every new limitation mocking people killing morale. I'm honestly getting scared about where AI is headed but I will fight til the end, I'm close to my 50s and never felt so motivated for the younger generation that should grow without art being a business.
>>43526960Check out Krea2 if you want to try something new.https://huggingface.co/Comfy-Org/Krea-2/tree/main/diffusion_modelsThere's also Anima but I think it's just flat out worse than Krea right now. And also kind of a sidegrade to Illustrious/Noob anyways. The problem with both of those is that neither is trained on a furry dataset so they can't really do ponies. I guess there's some LoRA's but they're more a bandaid. So there are new models that are good, but they can't poniponi.
>>43526042>NOOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST MAKE COOL THINGS WITHOUT THE CONSENSUS OF THE NPC HIVEMINDyes I can, fuck the normies lmao
>>43526778the cucked and pitiful tixie...
>>43522210That's usually the problem with AI art and writing even. Sure, on it's surface it's visually impressive and looks good but there's usually a fundamental lack of creative spark. There's never anything being told in these images unless the meat proxy typing in the prompt is extremely good so any real artists have nothing to prove
>>43522465I was anti AI till i saw that image. I hope all these disgusting progressives get thrown out if the creative process
>>43522210>the ability to come up with even a modicum of a creative idea or adding a unique flair to your drawingsYeah about that lol...
Artists: Technology is dangerous; you're playing with fire and it's expensive normal art is cheaperAlso artist : I can't decide if I'll spend 100 in these new brushes from Adobe cloud or get the new Blender for smoother lighting. Or I should save for another 4k monitor.
>>43526042Bruh we collective as hell. At least a nigga hope Anonymous still got that solidarity in they heart. Artists used to be empathetic, share the process, the resources, let other artists run the copy. I grew up street artist, we teach, we communicate, we look out for each other ain’t no “I” in ART. We create, we steal, we crack, we smash. Fandom forgot all that ‘cause fanartists be some straight elitist pieces of shit. I ain’t learn no art in no school.>>43526974I’ma catch heat for this but real talk furries ain’t scared of AI the way anime fans or ponyfags is. They put in major work on PDv6 and a bunch of other AI projects, and that’s just another one. Niggas in here hate on furries, but me? I ain’t tied to one fandom. Multitask, diversify the portfolio, go try other styles.
Darkdoomer won. Aijeets lost.
>>43527051It's pretty much a certainty that will happen. Good artists don't need to virtue signal, their talent and skills speak for themselves. It's only mediocre artists that need to form cliques and bring poolitics into a place where it isn't needed or even wanted, as can be seen from the reaction their kind of "art" gets. AI will weed out the mediocre artists, and the real actual talented artists will remain, but I think it might also give rise to a new type of artist, the mediocre artist employing AI to propel itself above other mediocre traditional artists, once they swallow down their pride and relent in their already losing "battle" against AI. That might either be good or bad - it's good if the quality bar gets raised, but if they bring back their woke nonsense or other garbage nobody wants it might be a bad development.
>>43527179>but I think it might also give rise to a new type of artist, the mediocre artist employing AI to propel itself above other mediocre traditional artistsThis is the bit im most excited about. I know there are people out there who have good ideas who can sketch out a scene or comic but it'll have no polish and gain no traction. But with AI, their ideas can have the polish that their circumstances would never allow. This technology with yield slop for the most part but there are bound to be amazing things that come of it with someone of the right mind behind the wheel of the creative vision
>>43527224Yeah, but again, only if they leave their progressive brainrot at the door. But the types with those "ideals" and especially the need to proselytize for them all the time are typically the ones who are completely mindbroken about AI so they're probably not very likely to use it anyway.
>>43527224Polish is just eye candy. If the underlying image isn't interesting by itself, having more polish doesn't usually help. In fact, I can find the lack of polish endearing.I think AI removes a lot of personality that the individual would have used, which is why I think most AI images are boring to me.As an artist, you should continue to try to improve. Using AI to enhance your images skips the steps necessary to develop those and doesn't help you grow.
>>43527246>Polish is just eye candy.Kek, typical mediocre artist cope.
>>43527097Those brushes are all about control. Unlike the proooooompting tools.
>>43527256Yeah, real shame you have no control over the generated images apart just proooooompting, hitting the button, and praying to RNGsus.
>>43527146I think I"m gonna have to punch this nazi and his buds at MareFair myself next year >>43527256You don't get the meme, artists using scanners, digital tablet and a gaming computer worth a few thousand while anyone can prompt from a 800 phone or tablet or a laptop.
>>43527291>I think I"m gonna have to punch this nazi and his buds at MareFair myself next year You won't do shit.>artists using scanners, digital tablet and a gaming computeYou don't NEED that to make art. But your pajeet ass already knew that.
>>43522544
>>43527315>You won't do shitOh boy you have no idea, I've punched fascists at my uni, I'm not afraid to do it again, I can take you or any artist at your con. Say I can't be an artist then I'm gonna make sure you can't draw a straight line. I hate your kind.
Don't get me wrong. I don't dislike AI generated images. Genners are some of the best.I have ulterior motives. Motives involving getting past paywalls.
>>43527838>I've punched fascists at my uniAnd then everyone clapped.
>>43527838>I've punched fascistsI know a Polish Jew who got attacked.
