Previous thread: >>43450601

Fallout Equestria, a story that blends two franchises together to build something magical. On one side, you have death, destruction, decay, and misery - on the other, you have ponies. Doesn't sound like it should mix? You'd be surprised. When the world around you is wasteland, all you're left with is hope, and as we all know, ponies can do spectacular things with just a little hope.

Read Fallout Equestria by Kkat to appreciate the setting that many writers have then leaned upon after being so captivated by the wonders. The original story which spawned its own fandom can be found here:
http://www.fimfiction.net/story/119190/

These next four stories comprise the rest of what is considered "the big 5", alongside the original. They were biggest hitters early in the fandom, be it for having started before many others, their length, or overall quality.

>Heroes:

>Murky Number Seven:

Though, a reminder; just because these are the most well known, that isn't to say that there aren't other stories out there! There are many hidden gems that simply don't get the love they deserve purely because people don't give them the chance. Why not open your heart and try to find a new favorite? Anons are absolutely welcomed and encouraged to return with fic discussion of even the most obscure fics!

Mister Peace is incredible, that's why. Best of the supporting cast of MN7 that goes out in the way every man should: holding out against impossible odds while screaming and covered in someone else's blood.
Godspeed, you absolute madbot.

[x] Stop him. It’s dangerous to go alone.

“Wait. You’re in no condition to head out into the night alone.”
>Mutagold stopped just short of standing up to stare at you.
“They’ll still be there in the morning. We have a room and you don’t mind sleeping on the floor, right?”
>You let your eyelids droop halfway as you forced your lips into a sly smile.
“Come on. No need to get yourself eaten, or worse. Stay with us for just one night.”
>He rolled his eyes, let out a sigh, and pulled his chair back to the table.
>”All right, all right. You got me. Now, can I get you ladies a drink?”
>Flashing a smile, he let out a chuckle.
>”Ehh, I can pay for myself. But if you insist.”
>Star chugged what little was left of her beer before pushing her glass towards Mutagold.
>She hopped off her chair, strode to you, and sunk her face in your fluff as the merc headed for the counter.
>”Mmm. I’ll be right back.”
>She left you alone as she headed for the toilet.

“So.”
>Mutagold sat back down and slid one of the three mugs he brought to you.
“You said you grew up at a farm. How’s that business? What did you grow? I imagine it’s quite different from back home since the Peaks are far enough away the clouds don’t reach.”
>You took a sip of your new beer before noticing him stare at you with his jaw hanging open.
>”You… you’ve seen the sun?”
>Blinking, you nodded.
“...Yeah? I’ll tell you it’s not as life changing as you think. It’s so bright it burns your eyes – literally – if you look at it. Anyways, what did you grow back at the farm?”
>He stared at you for another few seconds, then let out a sigh as he looked down.
>You could’ve told him of the wonders of the night sky that you could marvel for hours, but it probably wasn’t the time for it.
>”Maybe one day. Anyhow, our farm dates back to before the war. It was an apple orchard back then, but when my grandpa’s stable opened and they returned to the farm it was… something else. Weird and mutated, but still edible.”
>He glanced up to see Star trotting back to the table.
>”It’s hard work with days upon days spent hunting radroaches, giant rats, and mutamoles. And culling weeds and caring for the trees and finally picking and selling the fruit. We got by and had enough to sell and trade to maybe feed another family of the same size.”
>Flashing a smile, he pushed a mug to Star as she pulled her chair and sat back down.
>”But, I’ve seen the pre-war logs. We’re just wasting time compared to them. The yields are a joke. So, I left to be a hired gun.”
>The pegasus, you noticed out of the corner of your eye, had shifted closer to you.
>”So I could maybe go explore what’s left of the old world one day. Find out what happened to the Crystal Empire and maybe even see it. But, you heard how my first job went.”
>He let out another sigh, shook his head, and lifted his mug to his lips.
>>
>>43548639

>”You called me a Dustborn. What’s that?”
>Mutagold cocked his head at Star’s question.
>”Huh? You don’t know?”
>He snorted.
>”Groundborn pegasus. One who is neither Enclave nor Dashite. That’s all there is to it.”
>Star leaned onto the table to get closer.
>”I’ve never seen the Enclave. Have you? What are they like?”
>The merc’s chair creaked as he leaned back.
>”I have, once. A small force came down from the clouds to the city center as I was watching. I was too far away to see more than that. So, I can’t say I know what they did or what they are like. But, you.”
>He pointed at Star.
>”What was your stable like? Grandpa told me stories about his and I’d like to know if it was the same.”
>>
>>43548641

>”Oh, my home? It was… cramped. But comfortable! We kept it clean and everything worked and oh, the warm showers!”
>She wrapped her wings around herself, wiggled a bit, and let out a squee.
>”I really didn’t like how there was no space to fly or even spread my wings even if they had a flight range of sorts in the atrium that had two floors open but most of the time I worked on the ventilation system. Do you have any idea what kind of damage constant use over several pony lifetimes does to a system like that? I don’t think there was a single original piece left. I was replacing replacement parts! And do you have any idea what pre-war screws are like? I had to work with those daily!”
>She stuck her tongue out and twisted her face in disgust.
>Mutagold let out a chuckle.
>”Sound just like grandpa’s stories. But what I meant more is what was the twist of your stable? The one my family is from kept experimenting on crossbreeding and mutating crops. From what I know, it worked at first and yields improved substantially, but eventually the results grew barren and the seeds wouldn’t sprout. So they had to leave the stable.”
>You glanced back to notice Aurelia was nowhere to be seen as Star folded her wings and nodded.
>”Yeah. The zebras from Seafoam Village asked that too when they found us. They even held our overmare at gunpoint to get into her terminal and archives.”
>The pegasus shrugged.
>”But there was nothing to find. My stable wasn’t built by Stable-Tec. The orders were simply ‘keep as many safe as long as you can’ or until the all-clear signal – which never came. We had to open the stable because our water talisman broke. Soon after, the zebras found us and taught us to brew water purification potions. We’re nominally still the Crystal Empire, but in practice we’re a part of the Tribes now.”
>She let out a deep, drawn-out sigh as she looked down at her lap.
>”What else were we supposed to do with the Empire gone anyways?”
>You reached out and stroked her shoulder.
“That went as well as a stable opening can go in the Wasteland. A lot of the time it’s raiders or Steel Rangers who find it first. The former just rape, kill, and loot whatever they can. The latter usually strip it bare of anything valuable and leave the residents to fend for themselves with little more than the stable suits on their backs.”
>Star offered you a weak, sad smile.
>”Why can’t they just get along? Like we do in the village. We help the zebras and they help us and we both do better than we would without each other.”
>You wished you had an answer better than standing up and slipping a hoof around her withers for a hug.
>>
>>43548642

“So, to avoid a repeat of what happened here, figure out beforehand how much you value yourself and say how far you’ll go for what they pay you. By default they’re paying you to show up and look intimidating.”
>You were well into your beers and they were making you dizzy and chatty.
“Investing in armor pays off quick. Nopony’s going to take you seriously if you show up in rusty metal sheets like you have now. Same goes for guns.”
>A hint of red rose to his cheeks as you glanced at his oil-stained revolver and banged up pipe rifle.
“I hate to say this, but a lot of how much you get paid is how you look and how confident you sound. Reputation is another part, but that comes later when you’ve had time to build one.”
>You banged your own chest with a cloven hoof to show off your armor.
>It was custom-made metal reinforced leather armor, with you tribe’s emblem – a Kirin and a Nirik circling one another – etched on the chest and both flanks.
>Lightweight and flexible, but still enough to stop low velocity bullets in most places and a blade almost anywhere.
>”I wish I’d had someone like you around before I got started.”
“Ha!”
>Reaching over, you slapped his shoulder.
“You’re still alive and healthy and lost nothing. Just try again.”
>He drew breath and was about to answer when Star let out a huge yawn.
>”You think they’ve had long enough? It’s been quite a day.”
>You craned your neck to look back.
>The two Steel Ranger mares were still at the same table, looking bored over beers, and there was still no sign of Aurelia or the scribe.
>It had been a while.

Ah, yes... Another /FoE/ thread...

It is I. Penitent-Anon. Here to tell you that I have completed reading Chapters 1-6 of Project Horizons [PH] and am here to report on how my penance progresses. Everything will be in spoilers in case those who haven't read PH/Fallout Equestria want to do so without being spoiled. Everyone else can read what a first-time reader's experience is like.

>Chapter 1-2
If you read Fallout Equestria before Project Horizons, you will start having deja vu after Blackjack leaves the vault. And by that I mean the phrase "Stations of Canon" may be something you want to look into.
But with a lot more rape, and a lot earlier.

>Chapter 3
VISCERAL FILLY-RIPPING holy shit I could feel Scoodle get torn in half as I was reading. Blackjack got off too easy with just a hug from Silver Spoon. Oh, also another station of canon with the Memory Orb in the wagon.
>Chapter 4
There's our Pegasus equivalent! Though a lot softer in the murder department than our favourite rust-colored winged menance. And I can accept the Volunteer Corps as a canonical way the Enclave kept "proving" that the Wasteland was too dangerous to return to as well as removing subversive elements.
>Chapter 5
Really don't like how fast Blackjack got her moniker of "Security Mare". Feel like she should have hit one more raider collective other than the ones who killed Glory's squad before DJ Pony started giving her a name.
Did like the Finders though. Conceptually. I'll always like merchants giving a reason for resources to circulate.

>Chapter 6
Now THIS is originality. Both in children being driven insane over 2 centuries and the description of Blackjack's entrails becoming outrails. I'll accept the Memory Orb trap as something the kids thought of over the years, but feels too much like copying FoE just because it happened in that story instead of something that happened logically like electrified jump-rope. Other's may pass over it without much trouble, but I've read FoE too recently not to keep reading into parralels between the two.
That the Society is actually shown DOING something I also like, because in FoE they seemed to be just sitting in their Tower spending unseen riches on pretending to be living in the past. At least here they are outside, showing why they are superior in taste to everypony.

Hopefully my future penance-posts can be more fruitful in explaining my feelings reading PH.

I think I need to clarify my position. What I was looking for was something like picrel. An entirely Zebra-focused, Zebra POV adventure.

We know how Equestria changed from MLP to Fallout and the changes the lands underwent. But the Land of the Zebras were also hit with Megaspells and have had 200 years pass since. There's so much new, fertile ground to plant lore that FoE never touched on, could never touch on because it was so focused on Equstria and the Ponies.

If a sequel to FoE will ever be made, it will be from the PoV of a Zebra.

Zebra lands have been explored a couple times in stories. IMO Somber's take from PH and Homelands is the most interesting and fleshed-out. Even if the protag isn't a zebra, the base is there for people to build stories off of.

Reminds me of an offhand comment on a video where they floated the idea of Pegasi being the fishermen of the sky. Casting their nets into the path of migratory birds.
Wonder if that's what the Enclave will do now as their available farmland was decimated by the Day of Sunshine besides of course trading their skills and labour to the earthbound mares for food.
>>
>>43558878
I'm assuming you've read more than just Somber's take on the Zebra and how their homelands handled being megaspelled. Mind ranking/suggesting other stories you've read that handle that some content?
>>
>>43559235
I know of two big fics that are zebra-focused: New Roam and Black and White. The former leans very heavily into "zebras are Romans" larp, the latter is so laden with plot threads and perspective shifts that no one reads it.
FoE: Renewal also featured zebras and made them Ethiopian-themed.

This is why I'm stanning for Somber's 12 and 1 zebra tribes, they're so much more interesting than what any other fic has established. Here's one new story that is based on it: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/591999/fallout-equestria-shadow-of-roam

I guess it depends on if your intuitive notion of smartness includes or excludes impulse control. And how would it get entangled with the magic of her cutie mark, too. >Like a hundred times more glorious. She would just steamroll all evils and outwit destiny itself.
I wonder how that would play out with her S99 conditioning. Would this make it worse or less severe? I.e. would she see the madness in this mindset more clearly early on, or does she become ever more creative in her ways to crack nuts instead?

Tried to write something about the Alicorn adventure I had in my head, but taking dreams and writing them out is a lot harder than I thought. That I'm also doing it off-cuff with no planning or sketching is not making it easier. Deeply dissatisfied with what I've got.
First link is what I got before I become too frustrated with the words not being able to flow scene to scene, that I was not being able to describe the world well enough, and just filling up the wordcount unnecessarily

>Blackjack is also there

>>
>>43565279
A: Daisy was willing to kill Stallions if their cocks didn't work to her liking
B: This is before the current Overmare took over and took command of P-21 as her personal dildo
C: Don't question the ways of the rape factory

[x] Go say hi to the Ranger mares.

“I think she needs a little bit longer to have a proper chance to milk everything out of him.”
>Star drew breath and glanced at you, then froze in place as a bright red spread onto her face.
>”Eee… Can you not put it like that? She’s a mother figure to me and most of the rest of the village.”
>Her wings spread out halfway as you leaned back.
“Ha! Yeah. She sure has the figure of a mother and knows how to use it.”
>The way she swung those foal bearing hips around and the things you’d do to-
>You shook your head and wrenched your thoughts back to the Steel Rangers.
“Anyhow. How about we go say hi to the Steel Ranger mares? I’m sure we can get something out of them.”
>Your lips curled into an amused smirk as you glanced at Mutagold.
“Or figure out how to stuff something into them. I get the feeling our zebra friend denied them the chance.”
>The merc gave you a puzzled look.
>”Um, OK? I thought we… never mind.”
>Letting out a sigh, grabbed his mug, pushed his chair back, and stood up.
>You and Star followed suit.

>One of the two mares, a white unicorn with a black mane, heard you and poked her companion, a faint brown earth pony with a dark green mane.
>She leaned in and whispered something in her ear.
>The earth pony perked up and looked at you, then rolled her eyes before whispering something back.
>The unicorn chuckled and beckoned you to her with a wave of her hoof.
>>
>>43567107

“Good evening, ladies.”
>You set your mug down and slid onto a seat.
>The other two with you followed suit.
>The ranger mares arched a brow at you and glanced at each other before shrugging, then turned to stare at Star.
>”Good evening, whatever creature you are. And especially to you, Dustborn.”
“Kirin.”
>You spoke up immediately to disrupt anything they had in mind for the pegasus.
“From the Peaks of Peril, south of the clouds. My tribe inhabits the sole village of a sheltered valley. Three years ago, out Elder had a prophetic dream about a great mare who would soon return sunshine and rainbows to the land of Equestria. She sent me and many others to search the Wasteland for this Queen of Sun and Rain. Have you heard of any pony who might be this queen?”
>The unicorn stared at you with her mouth left hanging open as the earth pony just rolled her eyes.
>”You’re wasting your time here. No pony bothers going out of their way for the ‘greater good’.”
>The brown mare sounded just as bitter as she looked.
>”Don’t mind Bristle Brush. She’s just bitter the matriarch took the stallion she’s had her eyes on.”
>The unicorn poked the earth pony, Bristle Brush.
>”But, no. The only queen I’ve heard of is the one the zebras up north in Seafoam have. And she’s across the ocean in Zenibar.”
>You nodded at them and stuck a hoof out
“Yes, I’ve heard of her. She’s not the one I’m looking for. Either way, Stream Song. Waterspeaker and gun for hire.”
>The black and white mare met your hoof with hers, producing a faint clop.
>”Flywheel. Knight of the Steel Rangers. And who might you be, Dustborn? And you, local?”
>Flywheel turned her attention to your companions.
>Star waved back.
>”Hi! I’m Star Seeker. I’m hoping I can make ponies treat each other a little better, like we did in the stable.”
>Mutagold fidgeted on his seat and glanced at you before opening his mouth.
>”I’m Mutagold. I’m trying to make some caps to leave my parents’ farm and go find out what happened to the Crystal Empire.”
>A hint of red rose to his cheeks as Flywheel gave him a smile and a nod.
>”Noble causes, for all of you. Not quite as noble as the preservation of technology, but at least none of you immediately admit a selfish cause.”
>She batted her eyelashes at Mutapple before lifting her mug to take a swig.
>A bit of foam stuck to her upper lip.
>Her tongue peeked out to lick it off while still staring at the merc.
>>
>>43567111

>”I just can’t believe he went with a stripe! A stripe!”
>Bristle swayed a little and slurred her words as she shouted out.
>Flywheel, now sitting next to Mutagold, lit up her horn and ruffled the earth pony’s mane.
>“I kept telling you have to make a move. But, you’ll have another chance soon. The matriarch won’t stick around.”
>The earth pony groaned and slammed a hoof on the table.
>The mugs of all five of you jumped and a few nearby ponies turned to look.
>”But she’s a STRIPE! How COULD he!”
>Even the barghoul now stared daggers at Bristle.
“Whoa, whoa. Calm down there. He’s just a stallion. You should know how they are. Brush up against them real physical, get ‘em hard, make sure they know you’re in the mood and bam, their brain just melts away.”
>The Ranger’s ears pressed flat against her skull as she sunk down on her chair, trying to hide under the table.
>”But… The stripes. They’re why we live in this, this DUMP! They destroyed the world!”
>She kept her voice down enough to not attract more attention.
>Flywheel let out a sigh, rolled her eyes, and leaned in to whisper something in Mutagold’s ear.
>”Bristle, that was two centuries ago.”
>The merc spoke up in a shaky voice.
>”Even the Matriarch’s grandmother hadn’t been born when it all happened. And- and we hit them just as bad as they hit us.”
>Bristle drew breath, but held it in as he stared at Mutagold.
>She squeezed her eyelids shut as her face twisted first to rage and then relaxed and she sniffled.
>As tears formed in the corners of her eyes, she lifted a hoof to cover her face.
>”It’s… it’s not fair. Why do we have to live in this shit?”
>Flywheel buried her face in a hoof, then whispered something to the stallion again.
>He gapsed for breath as his eyes went wide and a bit of red rose to his cheeks.
>”Why can’t we have rock concerts and evening strolls and colts playing hoofball in the parks?”
>You heard a jingle as the unicorn passed a key, almost identical to the one Aurelia got from the barkeep, to him.
>They exchanged whispers, then nodded at each other before Mutagold pushed his chair back and got up.
>”We have power armor and rocket launchers and, and we even have tanks in the basement but do we clear out the raiders across- huh?”
>The Star was focused on the young merc pulling Bristle into a hug, but you noticed Flywheel draw a sharp breath and glance around as tanks were mentioned.
>She noticed you watching and made a hushing motion before flashing a smile.
>”Now, now.”
>He stroked Bristle’s back as she spun in his embrace and buried her face in his neck.
>”How about a massage to help you sleep? I heard you like those.”
>His cheeks were bright red and voice not quite even, but his smile didn’t waver as the mare pulled back.
>She cocked her head and studied him, properly for the first time, for a moment before nodding.
>”I wouldn’t mind that.”
>She slid off her chair and hip checked his flank before nuzzling his neck.
>”C’mon. You going to keep me waiting?”
>>
>>43567121

>You all watched them until the door clicked closed behind them.
>”Sorry about that.”
>Flywheel was the first to speak.
>”Her parents were a part of a scouting party sent north to find the Crystallizer’s holiday retreat, but a balestorm formed and hit the area before we could pull them out. It’s now been two months and there’s been no sign of them.”
>She let out a deep sigh, looked down, and shook her head.
>”Those who go missing in balestorms don’t return. Bristle… hasn’t been taking it too well. I hoped coming here would cheer her up but you saw how that went.”
>Lifting her mug, she gulped down what little was in it.
>”I feel kinda bad for her ruining your evening. Anything I can do to make up for it?”
>You and Star glanced at each other.

If you ever feel like bringing your story to a wider audience you can move to fiction.live.
It's a site that was born when /qst/ was split from /tg/ specifically made for Qms, you'd need to register to post stories but it keeps the door open for anons to read and participate.
and given it's origins you can post anything you want in it, there's a dozen odd MLP quests and NSFW is allowed if tagged correctly.
There's even less anti-AI sentiment than here.
It would certainly make it easier to get into your story without having to hunt down the update through an archive.

Appears Mutagold is going to get lucky with Bristle thanks to Flywheel subtlety. As for Aurelia I doubt she actually gonna be scandalous with the scribe, pretty sure she saving herself up for Stream Song to have her later on tonight if he so wishes.

Let's allow Star to handle the talks this time. She want to be helpful contributing to the team, so giving her a chance will bright up her day.

I don't mind letting Star answer, but if we get a chance to pipe in later, I think Fly owes us nothing. We hoped Mutagold would cheer up as well, and it seems like both her and our plans worked great in the end.
Who or what is Crystallizer? What happens in balestorms, does the balestorm still continue (a quest hook!) or did they send rescue parties later and found nothing? And if she doesn't mind our idle curiosity too much, what did she mean by

IT IS I, PENITENT-ANON. COME TO SAY I am not doing the chapter-by-chapter Reviews of Project Horizons anymore. Not because I've given up on the story, but because I don't have the time to give each Chapter a fair shakedown of what it meant to me.

I will say that the first couple of chapters are the roughest, if you've read FoE beforehand. Because it's near-identical retread of events that LilPip went through sans Rape Factory upbrining combined with the story alternating between assuming you already know the AU-exclusive concepts/events introduced in the OG fic and assuming that you haven't read the OG fic.

I can't say exactly at what Chapter Somber started to be confident in their own work to stop referencing events/quotes because it's more of a taper from FoE dejavu and to PH "24hr shift at the rape and gore factory, but at least our breaks are fully paid". Definitively it's own beast though, not someone trying to make a nostalgic fanfic of FoE.

P.S. Somber also made "Simply Rarity" which was my favourite characterisation of Rarity, but also a bit of a guilty pleasure since it can come off as an abusefic with a happy ending. Does explain why Blackjack keeps on going through IT™ constantly and how well-described IT™ is.

P.S.S. Also got the first chapter where the Zebra's reasons for engaging in war were described. Love how it made the change from skirimishs to Total War never a foregone conclusion but a steady escalation until a single event moved tipped the scale into capitulation or death for both nations.

The story that never got told in the blog was that the mutant known to locals as "Taint Fare" was in the past a bat-pony , a vile, heartless mercenary sunovabitch, who had no scruples and would take advantage of everyone and everything he could. Well, he got a bounty on the main antagonist, a raider queen named Heart Eater the Eternal, who had a cult following because every time she died, she'd be reborn having all the memories of every prior life, and would always return to her followers. Well, the mercinary insinuated himself in to the group, doing some of their dirtry work for them at a discount, all to get into Heart Eater's favor and get close enough to catch her for the one he was actually working for. However, he tried to recruit that region's raider radio operator, and got betrayed quick. While he could have been killed in any number of ways, Heart Eater decided to get rid of by giving him "The Bath" - binding his wings and legs and tossing him down an incredibly deep pit. The last thing he saw as he hurtled down at an alarming speed was a light at the end of the tunnel - which was the end of the pit, filled with various waste and a strange glowing prismatic muck. Then his body plunged in.

The transformation was horrifying as his body warped and altered. The bones of his wings dissolved and the muscles and flesh of his wings reshaped into large tentacles. Skin grew over his eyes which merched into a single jelly-like mass. Tendrils brouted from his head, his fur falling off his skin, which was both chemically burned, warped and made tougher at the same time. The pure agony of the change completely broke his mind, intil nothing but small fragments remained. Somehow he found his way out, through a different cavern system. With the transformation stopped, the pain stopped as well, and he was able to think...in a way. For a while he ambled around going on instinct, like a feral stallion, though eventually, some of his higher cognitive function returned, though only tiny fragments of memory would pop up when he dreamed. He does not consciously remember his old self. In a strange twist, as a monster, this mutant is the opposite of the bat-pony he was.

>Obviously un-equine, but blessed with enough cognition to converse. To co-operate in mutal benefit, if not trust. If one can overcome their pejudices to not Kill On Sight
I do wonder how much of his past ego is present, or is he basically a new pony after his bath?

He is a completely new pony, though the storyline of the region (and confusingly, also the name of the walled city) of Farrier Pass itself in the blog was going to be pure Wild Wasteland, including cursed artifacts, several dimensional portals, a bit of time travel shenanigans, a prophecy of a pony who will bring forth paradise with bloodstained hooves and whose appearance will wipe Farrier Pass off the face of the earth, and a damaged alien ship - with a twist being that everyone that was sending questions and/or comments to the blog were were actually connected to that ship.

It was going to be a glorious trainwreck of various themes in which the father/adopted daughter duo of Taint Fare and Blossom were going to survive, learn, adapt, and hopefully thrive in - at least until RL fell apart due to two sudden moves, a new job, caring for elderly relatives, and the afforementioned losing entry to the blog itself.

Thanks for the link, I've been reading up on it and it's a good story. Though it's a shame you can't post pictures alongside the text in that archive.
Also I understand wanting to give back to a place that gave you so much (I wouldn't be in /sdg/ otherwise.)
I'm just saying because that site gives you a lot of tools to work with, like embedding pictures anywhere along the text which is an incredible upgrade for a quest. Especially given you can now make your own.

The only time I've had to read PH was on my phone in the between time of waiting for one thing to end to start another. So I've making notes as I go instead of reading the chapter in full then organizing my thoughts on it.
I feel PH deserves more respect than I currently have the time available to give it. Having said that I have just finished Chapter 22 which makes me want to rescind my comments of PH standing on its own due to the inclusion of a trope I personally hate: Prequels introducing characters that "actually" created something someone in canon is known for i.e. Luna and her Ministries; Twilight and her I.M.P. Others may be able to forgive that. I have acquired too deep a hate for it to ever forgive its inclusion. And the founded accusations of being misery porn with everything BJ tries to make right going bad-end or ending unsatisfactorily. Currently that's just Stable 99, possibly Riverside, but there's stil over half the story to go. Which I might accept if the moral of the story is "Keep caring, no matter how much it hurts. Keep doing better."
Might. MIGHT. Be willing to do a review if I ever finish it.

After, of course.
The pages are awfully thin. Woulda probably been better to split the story in two volumes rather than compressing it into a giant tome. The chapter illustrations are great though.
>>
>>43574239
That is wafer-thin. Ain't going to survive the Fallout: Equestria
But those black-white pencil-scratch illustrations really elevates the entire thing.

Also came back to say that the problems I've had with BJ's character are being mollified by Chapter 24/25 and her forced introspection. Which just reinforces the fact I need to read the entire thing in full before coming back to do chapter-by-chapter reviews instead of judging the entire story by the latest chapter.

ALSO, if I'm reading
>https://www.fimfiction.net/story/208056/25/fallout-equestria-project-horizons/chapter-25-competition#comment/6792503
correctly then PH was being released concurrently as FoE was ending. Which explains so much about why it the early chapters feel the need to stick so much to canon and reference so much stuff that was already covered in FoE.
PH isn't inherently 'bad' but it shines so much brighter when it doesn't feel the need to have to tie itself back into FoE canon.

Disgustingly understandable. I hope that when I move from PH to Homelands they'll be completely unmoored from FoE canon and be able to explore their own understanding of Zebra culture.
Golden "cocksucker" Blood is his own problem whose mere existence pisses me off; That the entire canon of FoE spins on the tip of his flaccid dick. If his raping of canon was spread across several characters the rape wouldn't be that obvious and barely bearable. But oh no, this fucker of his own mother has to shove his dick into as much of established canon and turn independant mares who don't need no stallion to make their decisions into his little bitches whose actions in FoE were only done because he told them to. Over-reaction? Absolutely. But only an over-reaction can explain how much I FUCKING HATE this motherfucker.

>>43592216
No. But I assume you are going to tell us? It must have left enough of an impact on you to want to share it with other people.
>>
>>43592490
I haven't read it. It's a lower rated FoE fanfiction, that seems inconsistent in quality, but also seems to be influenced by 2000s alternative culture in its aesthetics and art and story. I wonder if it influences the story too. Apparently there is a location in the story called Meteora, which is presumably named after "Linkin Park's Meteora." The cover of the fanfiction has Disturbed "Ten Thousand Fists" as an inspiration, but they are raising pony hooves instead.

That would require either playing it directly or watching a LP of it. Either way, it'll be a flavor of brain damage that'll be carried into the writing. Also, crotchboob leather lingerie with descriptions of how they bounce with every step.

>>
>>43593360
On its own? As part of a stand-alone special that is not meant to question or answer anything but whether you can masturbate and read simultaneously? It's a very good idea.
As part of FoE and its message of friendship overcoming the worst impulses of humanity and its need to look inward in response to pain? Terrible Idea.

Best make it an unserious one-shot of a mare without a name killing raiders then rescuing, physically and sexually, a captive stallion.

>The Mare Without A Name, called Sunset by her friends and foes, trotted boobily across the Ponymac Bridge. Her tits so round and big that her studded leather underwear could barely keep them from bouncing breastily as she walked.
...
>Her hindlegs locked behind the stallions head as she brought the full weight of her mare-like ASS into contact with his face. With him knocked down to the floor she kept smacking her giant, hefty, soft butt into the stallions face until he stopped resisting and went limp.
...
>This stallion was a monster! No matter how much she tightened her forelegs in the "ZEBRA STYLE: Mounted Saddle Sleeper Hold" on his neck he continued to buck and bounce with her on his back all over the foyer. Thankfully, she wasn't a slave to just ZEBRA-STYLE. Hooking her hindlegs over his flanks she thanked her mother again for giving her such a long, long stride. As her hoof-tips met in the middle under his legs she started using "MARE STYLE: Saddled Stallion, Rising Mountain" to make it dangerous for him to move about with such a long, sensitive length swinging about.
...
...
LittlePip flicked through the last dozen pages, skimming paragraphs of borderline and explicit pornographic materials. She looked again at the front of the booklet. A clearly traced Battle Mare cover but with a pistol instead of a sword in her mouth and contemporary, dominatrix-esque, barding. The background was just a giant explosion, probably traced too. The back of the booklet was a traced Battle Mare, but from a different cover. The paper the booklet was printed on, and it was clearly done through a printing press even if the front and back looked mouth or horn drawn, was so thin that the ink on each page was legible through the page after it.

Homage snuggled closer. "So. Like it?"

LittlePip couldn't contain her disgust. "This is what we're using the printing presses on? Making trashy porn booklets?"

"Fillydelphia isn't the only place with pre-war printing presses." She got closer and rested her head on LittlePip's shoulder. "It's exciting that there's now ponies out there with enough time not devoted to just living through today that they can make something so- Not trivial, no. Non-essential sounds bad in the same way. That they're making something they like and sharing it with other ponies."

"But this?"

"Yes. This. If you hate it that much I can try and find out where the caravans are getting it from so you can have a talk with the pony printing them."

"It's not that. I don't- I just want to know how they got their hands on a working press, and then decided that this was the first thing they needed to use it for."

"Actually." And Homage reversed the booklet again and tapped her hoof to the center of the explosion. Where the smoke- "This is the seventh issue of 'Mare Without A Name.' This is just the first to get spread far enough out of the Hoof for us to pick it up."

"Oh Celestia, that's worse."

"Yes, LilPip? What's that you're reading?"
