Thinking about how the pegasi in the main cast learn lessons about their natures(not giving into them or sticking to your instincts), the earth ponies learn lessons about their habits(needs/perspectives of others and their obsessions), the unicorns learn lessons about ideals(the divergence between that and reality, both falling short and applying them positively), that this extends from the Mane 6 to the CMCs, and that this is a mental reflection of their physiological-magical differences. Other characters in the show, especially antagonists, are often reflections of what it's like when you don't learn these lessons.>Cozy Glow is purely a creature of her own nature, only indulging her desire for power through her innate manipulative talents, and can only understand reality through that lens.>Diamond Tiara is a spoiled brat and the epitome of learned behaviors from her parents, before she decides to take a different path.>Glimmy's whole shtick is about how awful her ideals were and reconciling that.

The show is also not immune to bad writing/bad writers/bad episodes in terms of consistency, but everyone knows that. Which is not to say deviations are always bad, you could also say some exceptions make for more interesting unique stand out characters exactly because they don't fit this mold(Maud for example struggles between the boundaries of being a creature of her own nature while being pretty well in tune with the needs and perspectives of others, it's just bridging a communication-understanding gap). But just to throw out another example of a character that does that juxtaposes well against the Mane 6 that lern their lessons, Lightning Dust is an example of a pegasus indulging in her nature. It most strongly applies to the CMCs outside the Mane 6, in no small part because they take after their sisters/sister figure but also face their own unique problems(Scootaloo coping with her literal physical nature with her disability, Applebloom's obsessiveness even greater than the other CMCs with getting her cutie mark, Sweetie Belle's gap between her ideal picture of her sister and both Rarity's shortcomings as well as the perspective gap of all the good Rarity does as sister that Sweetie Belle didn't understand/like ala For Whom The Sweetie Belle tolls, etc.

She grew up in one of the strongest cultural environments she could and it's easy to see how the strictures of their amish/quakers lifestyle would help ponies like Maud and Marble function despite any of their shortcomings (I can easily imagine that Marble is going to pick up how her parents talk as she becomes more mature and worldly by using the formality as a way to bridge the awkwardness - much like Luna).She doesn't really have any problems, she just doesn't "win more" as much as fully-socialized Pinkie does. And Maud is still great at making friends and stuff like that anyway. I wouldn't really say that she suffers any problems over it. If anything, she gets what the misunderstandings are and just doesn't always make the effort to correct the other pony because she's already content with what she has and there's no need to make the effort.I'd even go so far as to say that Maud sometimes acts deliberately obtuse so as to prank ponies in a way that's very similar to Pinkie Pie, and that her intro episode has a lot of that in the same way that e.g. Pinkie in FPK is pretending not to notice Twilight is watching her.Also god I love that they say "Celestia hasn't even raised the sun yet". I've been thinking of thematic variations of the three pony types (earfs, pegasi and unicorns). One personal variation I thought about was the primitive versions of said ponies. Kind of like the pony equivalent of cavemen or neanderthals. So far I have settled on tarpans (extinct species of equines from which horses derived from) for the earfs and monoceros (mythological precursor to the unicorn) but nothing regarding primitive pegasi come to mind. Any ideas fellow anons? Also, would you a primitive pony?

I’m going to sound crazy, but then again I am. I’ve been trying to lucid dream for well over a month now with no success. I ran into the idea that the human imagination was nothing more than a glimpse into alternate realities or the like and realized that if that were true, fiction would be based on a reality out there. If fiction were based on reality, fictional characters would exist, potentially with their abilities, in a reality. Obviously the idea was to test this by attempting to make contact with Princess Luna. An entity that can interact with dream. I devised a plausible question upon actually meeting with such an entity in a lucid dream. A question that could indicate that said entity was at least not my subconscious. A simple test, really. I’d ask them to sing a song from wherever they’re from. I’ve no musical talent, so anything musical that didn’t sound like music from here would be fine. That was weeks ago now and I’ve actually forgotten about it. A lot has been going on in my life, but I’ve continued to lucid dreaming attempts all the same, even if the questioning was forgotten. Last night, however, I dreamed that I woke up. I suppose it was one of those false awakenings often reported in SSILD. But after that, I saw Princess Cadance’s face surrounded by blackness. And then she sang a song. It was a stupid nursery rhyme song about a unicorn mare who loved a minotaur. The minotaur’s face would crease, I guess out of worry or the like, and the mare didn’t like that, but telling the minotaur that made his face crease more, so she sang a song to get him not to worry about worrying and to affirm that she would love him even if his face was creased. All I can remember was, “big crease, red crease, in crease, de crease, none crease” in a sing song style. It took me until I got to that part of my dream in my dream journal and was writing about the song to remember my testing protocol and the question of a song. It’s not conclusive, but I think Equestria is real bros. I’m not sure why Princess Cadance picked up the long distance telephone, but it’s been a weird morning.

I'm writing a fanfiction that takes place far in the future, but some chapters have flashbacks to events that happened with the mane six after the show. One of them involves a hearts and hooves day ball, and I'm trying to decide who each pony's date is. I decided that RD would go with Zephyr Breeze(there's a subplot where everypony actually started to believe his jokes about RD liking him, and when he tries to explain it's not serious they all think RD made him say that. So everypony thinks that RD is too shy to ask out her crush. So since she can't make them believe she doesn't like Zephyr, she does the next best thing and makes them believe she isn't a coward about her feelings. They plan to stage a fight during the date too, to put an end to the whole thing.). Twilight has to decide from hundreds of suitors from all around Equestria, even though who she really likes is Flash Sentry, but Flash Sentry saw Starlight being sad because no guy was into her so he asked her out. Rarity has to decide between several suitors too, and this is the time that Spike decides to finally confess his love to her. Which actually pisses her off that he chose to enter the Rarity bowl now, at a time when she's already super stressed about it. This only adds more pressure to her because she doesn't want to say no to him but she already had several reasons, including business reasons, to choose other stallions. Spike thought it would make her choice easier, that she would just simply choose him. When it didn't make it easier he tried to take his name out of the hat so to speak, but she wouldn't allow that.What do you think so far? Are these stupid ass ideas or could they work?
