Source: I was in the post-con meeting with them.I don't think we'll be going back there strictly based on attendee feedback, but it's nice to have a backup. They were told that they're still free to submit a proposal to us. However, I should note I have no say in any of this because it's up to the board of directors and I'm not one of those. But I can tell you we've been looking for a nice forever home and I believe this goofy venue swapping nonsense will be over sooner rather than later.

So real talk, Mair Fair 2026 was my first con, and i had a really great time. Didn't have a problem with the venue or the staff, actually had really nice interactions with both con staff and hotel staff, they were both nice and helpful.Most of the panels i attended were enjoyable and the vendor hall took plenty of my money.Over the 3 days i was there i only left the hotel once and i never felt bored, i met a bunch of cool people and didn't really have any negative experiences.The only draw back for me was the plethora of faggots and trannys that roamed the halls but unfortunately that just comes with the territory.Overall i had a really good time and i am genuinely curious about all the negative banter that i keep coming across regarding this con.I am very new to the /mlp/ part of the fandom so i don't mind being labeled a tourist, I'm just trying to figure out if the con hate is real or just some inside joke i don't get.

I still had fun. Don't listen to the FUDposters here, they're just mad that other people are having fun in a way they don't approve of.

I could tell you it's getting too big and increasingly feels just like any other con, or that they keep trying to go bigger for some reason, or that there's more random normies now while the first was solidly a /mlp/ crowd which was just extremely fun to be around, or that increasingly there's a tension between the dwindling 4chan crowd trying harder and harder to be more 4chan to combat the obvious normification, or that every year doing the pools closed and the swastika just feels a little tired while the original one was spontaneous and funny, or the staff having to damage control for the edgy 4channers so they end up being the first con to ban Aryanne, but they still want to be the 4chan con, or the faggots being increasingly faggier and faggier every year, or staff getting bigger egos, or retarded staff drama getting more retarded, or normal drama being more retarded and banal each year, or the venue just not being as fun, or the venue changing every year, or panels basically being repeats, or every opening animation trying to capture the charm of the first and trying nothing new, or how every opening animation is how mare fair is close dying but needs to keep going, or every thread is just bitching, be it about the con or about people bitching about the con, or /mlp/ getting slower and more stale these last few years ruining the grounding MF was rooted in. Or maybe it's all me being grumpy and jaded and nostalgic, that's probably the real reason. It's all just my subjective experience. MF1 feeling so natural and spontaneous and now MF is so regular it's lost the special feel. I still have fun, I'll still go, there's still lots of chill anons to meet and it's great to see them again and I have a great time. I think probably this last year was just weak overall, seems to be a consensus. I saw only two fursuits at last mare fair. So some things can get better.
