Genuine question, but why do you guys use sillytavern over something like claude.ai? I pay for it anyway, so it isn't costing me like an API would, and rather than using cards, I can just prompt it with whatever I want. With the right jailbreak, it'll do it for you. I mainly just run out of ideas, rather than having the ai refuse. So what am I missing?

Summaries were a thing from the age when max context size was like 32k that held over when it went up because of context poisoning. Whether context poisoning is a problem is a matter of opinion (and again, model) these days. I tend to find that the AI is dumber until it has a healthy buffer of tokens and don't really have problems with context poisoning besides the occasional swipe that I discard where it breaks the formatting - which doesn't bother me these days because the model I use went from 70s thinking time to 7s a month ago.The game's summary I hate because it completely removes context rather than just injecting something after context. If you're going to make a summary I'd recommend genning the summary, unticking the thing which lets the AI use it, and manually copying summary entries into the lorebook. Or you can just edit the prompt directly.My opinion aside the recommended token count is about 30k+ (because that's about where context poisoning used to start) and most anons don't go over 100k unless they don't use summaries at all

There are a few issues with the in-game menu of the vn:-After you open a menu with the top right icon during a convo (the calendar for example), clicking anywhere often unpauses the game, starts the music and proceeds the convo behind the menu while the menu is still open.-When you give your character a name instead of the ???, it resets to ??? once a new conversation scene is started, and sometimes the option for it becomes inaccessible until a reload. Shouldn't the name default to the name of the selected persona?-Sometimes after clicking on the menu on the top right which pauses the game, then clicking back into the game, the menu icon remains selected and pressing space will bring up the menu instead of proceeding the text until a reload.Sorry if these are already reported bugs, the Scrumboy website doesn't load for me for some reason.

>>43592456Real shit.I'm the guy who ported Manehattan and I gotta be honest - I looked at the Crystal Empire and the biggest issue was I couldn't find a good replacement map. The Ren'Py version blows, but honestly there's not a lot to work with from the bird's eye view of the place. It should probably have a stylized 2D representation style map like Manehattan does.

I lost track of time playing the VN. I recall it started after I adjusted the size of the window by dragging the corners. It certainly stuck when I loaded saves and changed scenes though, I did like 4 custom starts these last 24 hours.

I understand modern max context better but what about max response tokens? For the longest time I just doubled the max tokens for responses from the preset originally used with chorbo when I switched to opus, now 8192, with this line {{setvar::_responseLength::long and at least 300-600 words}}. I feel like it's been a pretty good balance of fleshed out without repetition giving me my desired novel like responses I'm wanting out of the AI. Is fable 5.1 for instance neutered by restricting the word count to be 600 and is it potentially advised to eais the max response token again? I know I'm lazy for asking but unlike in the past where I do these tests myself with free public proxies I'm now much more conservative with testing. As much as the plentiful free proxies were a sinking ship because of the few with extreme overloading and eventually killing the keys I do think experimentation is hampered having to rely on daily currencies.

The preset I have now is mutated Knotty if anyone remembers that I've tweaked over the years, like removing a bunch of the outdated jailbreaking. I know most everyone has bare bones preset nowadays but I've kept this preset around because of its input in getting the model to write my desired novel responses. I was impressed enough by what every model [SP] fable 5.1 is. Earlier responses followed the assignment of a quick "instant loss" smut, inspired by an artist that really sold me on the trope I never much cared for until their recent portrayals of it that got my horny creative mind juices tingling. But this response actually detailing the in-between leading up moments was what I more than I was expecting and has me wary if I should even worry about editing my preset at all. Right now the drafts are dialogue (not the best translated sadly) heavy copy pasted visual novel writing that I either can try and see how the editing the template to see how it fills in the blanks or flourish myself in-between the dialogs, which is the proper and more beneficial thing to do that I'm for sure doing the more steamy scenes. There's a lot of effort for what are essentially the appetizers of the main events that might not need as fine tuned comb over and will work just fine as with little need to regenerated over and over.
