There is a real essence of Dash, but even the best writers can only touch on that every once in a while; that essence must be triangulated from all the individual specific moments. But also, that triangulation doesn't necessarily point to something out there in the world - it can point to something in you, the perfect Dash that exists in your heart and your mind. I like to think Faust plucked on something universal, interior to the human condition, as well as the others involved with the show at its best, and when we find the essence of Dash, we're finding that same resonant chord.
