A long day shift comes to a close for a close band of coworkers. Covered in dust and filth from the Lumber mill the rugged workers make their way through the cold Pacific Northwest sprinkling rain to their cars. Chris tosses up his truck keys with a joyful smile and catches them in the air with a swift swipe with his hand finally freed from another shift.
The key sinks into the keyhole of his old white ford ranger as his coworkers lean against the bed of the truck. Chris pauses wanting to just go home and lay on the couch for a bit but i can't simply say no.
"Hey Chris, were going out to have a couple beers and some wings, want to join us?" Hank the team lead asks gasping for breath as his mass leans the little truck
Chris opens the door with it's familiar quiet squeak as he pretends to contemplate the offer. "Yea, I'd love to guys but i have some stuff i need to take care of at home". Chris explains ever so slowly retreating to the comfort of the driver's seat
A quiet chuckle of murmurs go among the men as they meander back to their cars "Ah yea, important stuff like planting your ass cheeks on the couch. Must be critical shit with how fast you book it out of here every day" Jake teases refusing to relent "there's a special tonight for the buffalo wings even your broke ass can eat" he laughs with his energetic wiry frame shifting all about
Chris starts the truck flipping the bird "fuck you Jake, i aint broke. Im actually about to go get a new TV" he explains raising his voice over the cold start belt squeal
Hank chuckes at the thought, "yea, new to you. I haven't seen you doing any overtime, i know what you get paid, you aint gonna afford no new TV" he explains with a grunt pushing himself off the truck as it sways to find center
"Fuck you guys, i had to get a new one, the old one started showing like blue diamonds or some shit all over the screen." Chris explains with a smile, "how about next week? I will be free for some drinks then"
The coworkers have a little laugh before starting to shuffle away as Jake chimes in once more "alright, next week then, after your loan for the 6 piece wings gets approved"
Chris slams the door shut flipping jake off once more. "Fuuuuuuck youuuuuu, I'll see you tomorrow Slenderman, later hank" Chris waves as the trusty little white ranger crushes the gravel under his tires on his way to the store
