Certainly a bit slow on-the-draw with uploading my own hastily-taken photo from the crowd, but here's one last 'shot of the line-up from the big Nightmare Night contest yesterday.Events such as these always bring out the creative spark amongst the locals of our fair city, and it was a joy to see this years' display keep true to that ongoing tradition. Clever kitbashing, custom model-work, and even full-on rehearsed sketches are becoming more and more common as the years pass, raising the bar towards ever more impressive displays to the audience's delight.To say little of the entire themed village to immerse oneself in when away from the big stage itself, of course. Our set designers and decorators continue to impress, easily rivaling - if not surpassing - the efforts seen in neighboring regions among the wider popensphere abroad.An excellent visit, this most definitely was. The whole point of skyboxes is that people never need to render what's on ground level and vice-versa, and most of LI is ostensibly made to measure rendering cost.There's also the server/physics LI cost but it could either be split out, or maybe sim owners could pay extra to bump the LI limit know. Their servers definitely should be able to handle it. And most of the server load seems to come from scripts anyway which contribute 0 to LI so it's not like it does much to help now anyway nor would adding additional copies of the LI allowance at skyboxes increase server load that much.Of course LL will never do anything but a mare can dream

From then on my second idea was to at least do a quick and dirty 10 minutes runtime edit only peeking into each one evenly serving merely as a "quick reminder of the evening" but quickly realized that this wouldn't work/wouldn't do the show justice and instead I really do have to actively cherry pick moments and framing that emphasize each individual core parts of the bits while also keeping a keen eye on runtime.So about 3 hours into the night I got into a state of edit trance tunnel vision and powered through the entire night since there was no going back, throwing the towel was not an option and after like 10 hours in the morning I was done lol.I always learn things along the way though which is nice and luckily Blender's VSE got way more stable over the couple years so not even once it made me wanting to rip out hair like it used to years ago. Admittedly when I reached 30 minutes of edited material the hundreds of cuts made it run really sluggish so I was glad it didn't fall apart and didn't even crash ONCE.

I'll be happy with myself for the sims I'm already still allowed on, even if I also don't trust the fags running the joint. Either that or start my own fucking homestead sim, which seems like a waste of money, but at least I'll have full control of whatever shit I want to do (within ToS).
