What's the best MLP:FIM season and episode?
This question appears multiple times in these threads.Best? I don't know, it depends on who you ask, my FAV. was Season 2
probably nostalgia since seasons 3-9 have been new to me this year, but season 1 just makes me feel happy. best episode would also probably be something like winter wrap up if I was being really serious about it, but right now I'd say hearthswarming tail because of the season and just being packed with great tunes

>>43681169I think one of the strongest contenders for all time best episode is Best Gift Ever, though season 8 is obviously not the best season, that would be season 1.Compared to Best Gift Ever, there are certainly episodes that are funnier, more clever, more epic, more emotional, but none that are as quintessential. It has a little bit of everything that's great about this show packed up in a beautiful little Christmas special, every character shines and is just pitch perfect, with the perfected Derpy cameo as the cherry on top. It's just peak wholesome and it ends with the most lovey-dovey song imaginable that somehow still works. I love everything about it, and will rewatch it yet again when December comes.

I love that episode where Spike grows from greed— his interactions with everyone are funny. That scene where they’re in the doctor’s office and Twi slaps his hand away from the candy bowl will stick with me forever. Last Roundup is great, if only just for Pinkie. And then there’s the episode where Twilight professes her love for her brother. It’s not creepy.I think if I gotta choose one episode though, it’s Winter Wrap Up. That episode is just so whimsical. This little earth pony village that’s hundreds of years old. A world where the little ponies are the caretakers— where nothing happens without them making it so. From the raising of the sun and moon everyday, to the survival of the animals, to the changing of the seasons. Season 1, even if it wasn’t as fleshed out as 2 and the character interactions weren’t as refined or funny, has the best lore. It really was some high fantasy shit. That’s something that was immediately lost as the show moved forward, which is unfortunate, because I think it’s part of what made it such a phenomenon. Also pic rel.

Derpy's there... Fluttershy does that cute kick at the ground... oh hey the CMCs are all there together(even though they aren't friends yet)... Yeah that's about it. Rarity and Fluttershy get the only meaningful trials that showcase their virtues properly as characters in Part 2, Pinkie Pie/Applejack/Rainbow Dash get very clunky ones in comparison.The worst thing about episode 1 and 2 is they're unskippable as the premise of the series.

>>43684541that's what I'm sayin, I think s3 has a couple really fantastic episodes, some mid ones and another couple big stinkers so I think that's why its a bit overlooked, season 5 is probably the strongest season if you're going by consistent quality, but Sleepless, Wonderbolts Academy, One Bad Apple and Magic Duel are great ones

The first two seasons are great too and very comfy but I kind of like the higher ambitions of 4/5 both in terms of writing and stylistically (I really like the way they started using lighting effects in season 4 for instance).
