But if you're like me and you admire Cohen's albums more than you play them, then this will be the one you find yourself pulling out and playing the most. B
i've read some pretty convincing stuff about how that guy was in fact a demented religious fanatic, and it gives me the ick. That said i'd be curious to read his poetry. Any advice to get directly to the best works?

This may not be a popular opinion, but i think the best way to approach Leonard Cohen's music is through the two compilations, Best Of from 1975 and More Best Of from 1997. They cover two of his main eras, the folk guitar and the Casio synth eras respectively, and from there you can investigate individual albums. For the third and final era, the post-Casio synth era, his final two albums You Want it Darker and Thanks for the Dance are good listens.
