I cross my heart all the timeIt's always the sameNothing happened
The percussion on this record is top notch stuff, for whatever reason he's yet to duplicate it.
>>130369574Hives Hives especially
>>130369579Suha is what got me into this record, that and the percussion of Don Diasco, Luber was a reworked track already heard, Hives Hives is an excellent percussion track, f it, the whole album is really impressive. Poe Poe is another one
Tonite and Today ruins an otherwise perfect album
>>130369618>Luber was a reworked track already heardwhere can I hear the original
>>130369454The first four albums were a really imperious run that so many bands only pray they can match up to. Something faltered in the Air Force and nosedived completely during Women As Lovers and all I really have to cite there is the cringeworthy and completely unlistenable duet cover of "Under Pressure" with Michael Gira. For the longest time I thought it was that rancid gook cunt's fault but I really do think that Jamie is his own worst enemy in a lot of cases. He can make genuinely arresting works and display his own perverse interests as ugly as they may be with little to no tampering but it fails completely when he indulges his own retarded faggot ego with this stuff. It's a crude and selfish point to put forth but Jamie seems to make the best records of his life when under extreme duress and heightened mental anguish, and the worst records when he's completely comfortable in his life. He's not a guy who will only make albums when he's particularly inspired, he's a careerist at heart, inspired by his rich, fat, father, so he chases the money whenever he can. Life is a river that ebbs and flows and splits into different directions simultaneously, so it makes perfect sense that he's able to make one of the most beautiful, heartfelt, and simply best records of his life in the middle of this decade and follow it up with a retarded, trite, and acoustically disgusting record for the ages. That's Xiu Xiu. That's Jamie. Forever.
fag patrol
>>130376800What about it?

>>130373674>he's able to make one of the most beautiful, heartfelt, and simply best records of his life in the middle of this decade and follow it up with a retarded, trite, and acoustically disgusting record for the ageswhat records are you talking about?
>>13038173113" Frank Beltrame Italian Stiletto with Bison Horn Grips is the former album I'm talking about. It's a really beautiful album, the only Xiu Xiu I own on vinyl. Xiu Mutha Fuckin' Xiu Vol. 1 is the other one.... I dunno, I just hate it. The experimental songs on it are the worst songs in their catalog. I like some covers that Xiu Xiu has done in the past like the New Order one and even the Rhianna one. Those just felt right for them, like songs that perfectly made sense for them to cover. They totally fucking failed at covering This Heat and Coil, and even 'Hamburger Lady' by Throbbing Gristle. How did they fuck up Warm Leatherette, too? It's They just totally failed at capturing what these songs were doing, they sound completely goofy and trite in their hands. WL in particular sounds like something the Residents would do but with retarded fuckoff noise added over it at random points. I will say, the one cover that I'll them credit here for is their cover of In Dreams which is totally brilliant and a perfect song for Xiu Xiu to cover.
>>130380129This is a thread about Xiu Xiu, dude.....
>>130369454special album honestly, they never captured that magic again.
