What makes thrice or cloud nothings post hardcore?
>>
>>130369713
Having hardcore as a foundation, although cloud nothings is more indie rock. Most zoomers add that tag to anything with quiet to loud dynamics
>>
attack on memory is definitely post-hardcore, for the most part
>>
For me it's Die Kreuzen.

>>
>>130369713
Thrice were post hardcore for their first 3 albums and have went far beyond that since Vheissu. I don't know why that other anon posted Cloud Nothings. They're indie slop.
>>
>>130369629
80s/90s post-hardcore is worlds apart from later post-hardcore. what happened?
>>
>>130370202
it got better?
>>
>>130370420
lol
lmao even
>>
>>130370481
let me guess, you're one of those people who think pre-84 goth (its just terrible fucking punk) is the better wave
>>
>>130369629
That's Netherlands. The street has changed a lot.
>>
And We Washed Our Weapons In the Sea by Frodus might be the most underrated post-hardcore album of all time
>>
>>
>>130370420
>>130370562
You are a delusional hot topic scene kid if you think any modern post-hardcore can compare to the golden years which is definitely the 90's. I enjoy touche amore and la dispute but most modern post-hardcore is honestly trash.

I stumbled across this band Candy Machine by finding some used copies of their music at my local record shop. Check this out if you want some '90s post-hardcore

>>
>>130371818
I believe zoomers are calling that Sasscore now, yeah idgi either
>>
>>130370202
Instead of inspired/drugged out punks making music in a basement, studios started signing bands and pushing it as their genre.
>>
>Circa Survive- Juturna
>Dance Gavin Dance- Downtown Battle Mountain
>The Fall of Troy- Doppelgänger
Literally don’t need anything else in the genre.
>>
>>130372905
There was another band called Sinema. They had to change it. This isn't a new occurrence, dumbass.
>>130374897
All good but there are a fuckton of other albums as good or better.
>>
>>130375892
zoomers have the Internet to search existing band names before recording and releasing music under names already taken, they have no excuse
>>
Almost all of the post-hardcore from the 00s onwards just sounds like whiny shit you'd hear at Hot Topic. Post-hardcore from the 80s and 90s had fucking balls and is so much better
>>
Mclusky and Future of the Left
I love Falco's snarkiness

Some of us, including the big dimes niggas in I Promised the World, don't spend every waking moment on the internet
>>130376795
It's really not. It's boring as shit 99 percent of the time
>>
Don't mind me. Posting the pinnacle of post-hardcore

No kek

>a five minute Google search for existing band name before deciding a band name=living on the internet
zoomies really are the laziest generation
>>
>>130369976
>Thrice were pop punk/screamo for their first three albums and have become alt rock.
ftfy
>>
>>130377698
Yeah. They were too busy being Chads to worry about the internet. You should do the same.
>>130377762
>Thrice
>pop punk
Why would you lie about something anyone could check?
>>
>>130371818
try The Plot to Blow Up The Eiffel Tower, Terrifying Girls High School, maybe even some Arab on Radar if you want to go off the deep end
>>
>>130371785
Rob Crowe from Pimback is currently in the band Plosivs with John Reis from Rocket From the Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes, and a bunch if other bands. Plosivs isn't really post-hardcore, though John likes to do that thing he always does where he plays surfy riffs that are kind of mathy and build lots of tension. I guess that places their sound adjacent to post-hardcore.
>>
>>130378096
they changed their name because they were worried about being difficult to find on the internet lol. sounds like terminally online zoomer behavior to me
>>
>>130378307
Some literal who Spanish band waited until they gained some traction to pull the carpet out from under them. Worked out in the end since Sinema is a shitty band name.
>>
>>130370871
Boring band honestly. I could never get into them
>>
>>130378096
>Why would you lie about something anyone could check?

I was a teenager when that shit was popular in the mid/late 90s and early 00s.
Blink-182, Simple Plan, No Use for a Name, The Offspring, the list goes on...
>>
>>130377509
i'll rape you
>>
>>130380420
When people talk Thrice's first 3 albums they don't literally mean Identity Crisis. The band doesn't even particularly like that album and doesn't sound anything like what was gonna come from them. Pretty sure that's what the other anon meant. Not their debut album.
>>
>>130380608
Cool
>>
>>130380609
Even Illusion of Safety has a bunch of pop-punk undertones.
I've been going on a nostalgia trip thanks to this thread...

>>
>>130380761
They definitely put their own twist/edge on it and branch out from the basic pop-punk formula, but for example, in Kill Me Quickly they have that constant kick-snare beat, pop-punky vocal lines and harmonized vocals and guitar riffs.

*unrelated pop punk track for fun*

>>130380812
God I love Thrice and Fenix TX. This thread has taken a fun turn.
>>
>>130380825
lol. For sure. I haven't listened to a lot of this stuff in close to twenty years.
>>
Most overrated band in post-hardcore?
>>
>>130380881
At the Drive-In. It was cool when I was 14 but I kind of cringe when I listen to it now
