>>130377092I found this today and I'm wondering if it's actually effective or if it's more like DuoLingo where really it's just a game, not a resourcehttps://jazzchords.app/
Serious question. Why do you guys share your WPs? You should be terrified of getting ripped off before you've made a name for yourself.
>>130377324
>>130377324Nobody here is worth ripping off
>>130377324what's the point of having a discussion if you don't share anything whether it be knowledge or a work in progress. you're just a leech. it's not like anyone here is getting good without help from someone else.
How do I structure a song and make it have impact and where do I place my impact momentsIs there a YouTube video I can watch about this

Some good shit in today's ASOT episode
>>130377270What about thishttps://chordracer.com/practice
>>130373833>>130374238I didnt know about the flac issue, i always bounce samples to .wav out of old habit. make sure warp mode is turned off aswell. regardless of the sampler you are using be it simpler, sampler, some third party VST, a hardware sampler of some sort, etc the key take away is that "thru" playback mode will allow you to play a chop/slice and have it continue past the next slice. Thru also is monophonic so you dont have to worry about unwanted poly. and that "gate" mode is what forces the "sustain". "oneshot" or "trigger" modes just need a single input of any length to start playing the sample, and will only stop if it reaches the end of the chop/slice, unless in thru mode. another little tip is that in simpler you can hit the arrow to bring up a much larger view of the waveform to set slices there. I usually just zoom in on the default view, but it can be nice if you are doing some really precise stuff.hope you are able to get things working how you want them, samplers are one of my favorite ""instruments"" and a lot of fun.
>>130377324as an artist you can get ripped off even after you officially release shit, unless you are already very well known. Its like whatever tho because ill always make better shit, if someone plagiates my work and blows up its usually better for my own publicity then if it didnt happen at all too. If you are doing it for fun then why should you care and if you are serious about art you gotta realize you have to be willing to sacrifice everything for it and never expect anything in return, i know that makes so little sense to people with job.
>>130378652ironically i didnt shared anything in here yethttps://vocaroo.com/19pij0JCoiOrhttps://vocaroo.com/1lB40GRPFVD3https://vocaroo.com/18GAJOFVgLtomade these three demos in one project file like two days ago, theyr pretty cool but its not what id like to make but maybe some of you guys here can steal them
/prod/ and /dmp/ have a symbiotic relationship. You need to bump the /dmp/ thread to keep the schizo away from here.
Do you guys ever do anything fun here? Like post a short melody or sound or chords to sample and everyone has a go at making something quick from it? I'm always interested to see how people choose to interpret things in various ways and across genres. What if we did that, huh? Imagine having fun like that.
>>130379001ironically i would be satisfied enough to leave if you stopped posting /dmp/ in /g/ and stayed in /mu/ but i guess you won't do that
>>130379006There's been threads like that before
>>130379063>>130379001you both need to fuck off and stop ruining threads for everybody
>>130379913sure would be great if the mods ever did their jobs
>>130379006Make it happen, bro.Sounds fun.
>>130379006there used to be a 30minute challenge thread, not inside of prod but on /mu/. something like "30 minute challenge. open your DAW and make something in 30 minutes and post it". and it was filled with hilarious shitpost songs, and the only time ive posted to any of these types of threads. It also helped me alot with not overthinking and just finishing some shit really fast. Would love to see more of those threads, or something similar

>>130381951i'm mad jelly of AG cook's success. he has such a smug look on his face yet he profited mainly off of charli XCX who was already successful in her own right and his productions don't have as much actual merit as he seems to think.
>>130383338absolutely brain dead all of her seminal releases, save for VV that earned her both the critical praise, and a cult following that have taken her to legendary status have all involved AG.whether *you* get it or not, obviously Charli finds him necessary to bring on every time.yes i’m triggered.
>>130383440hang on, is this ag cook posting right now? why are you browsing /prod/?

>>130383440>"Boom Clap" by Charli XCX was produced by Swedish producers Patrik Berger and Stefan Gräslund. The track, which was originally pitched to Hilary Duff before becoming a massive hit for The Fault in Our Stars soundtrack, was also co-written by the producers alongside Charli and Fredrik Berger.
even this song from 2018>"1999" by Charli XCX (featuring Troye Sivan) was produced by the Swedish producer and songwriter Oscar Holter
>"Doing It" by Charli XCX was produced by Ariel Rechtshaid and Jarrad Rogers (also known as MSTR Rogers). Both producers also co-wrote the track alongside Charli XCX, Noonie Bao, and BURNS.
>"Fancy" by Iggy Azalea was produced by the British production team The Invisible Men and the production duo The Arcade.
i specified release to imply album, to imply an artistic goal and scope of discussion beyond just any single song.obviously your little pee brain just wants to “win” the argument so go off i guess, i already decompressed after that first post anyway.
>>130383510she was successful because of those earlier songs. her later works because muh artistic vision are borderline dogshit and she didn't have much of a viral moment until 'brat' and then you see the effect of having billie eilish on her song as being the most popular music video out of brat because of billie's fame and not the actual merit of the production.
>>130383461yep. that’s why i give feedback after listening to only 5~ seconds of any one clip.yes im serious.
>>130383553the production of that song was unironically good but people were only drawn to the marketing gimmick of having another tween star in the video

How do you narrow down your ideas when sketching out a song? Do you record multiple arrangements and see which one feels right? It feels like I could take it in so many different directions it's hard to pinpoint what's right for the song and what's a completely seperate idea for another track.

>>130396815>>130396820you've both been making music for many many years and you still suck. 2 years isn't even a lot in the context of higher education and professional careers and such. for example juicy j founded three 6 mafia in 1991 and katy perry - dark horse ft. juicy j came out in 2014. dj khaled worked as a radio host the 1990s and started working with fat joe's terror squad. you're being cucks letting it be impossible to be successful (for you) while people more talented than you are making millions of dollars relatively easily.
and in the 2 years i was dragged down with anons inane trolling and gaslighting me about how good plugins sound compared to hardware so i didn't even start buying hardware and learning about electronics until about a year ago.

>>130379006>>130379081>>130380337>>130380651>>130380887OK, here's a little something for everyone. Use this vocaroo as a sample or recreate it using whatever you want - see pic related for pattern/notes. It has a very short delay to extend each note out once, it's at 120BPM and it's a basic pluck sound made in Vital:https://vocaroo.com/1cgbUIZAOA5qUp to you what you do with it, change the tempo, change the scale, get rid of the delay, use whatever sounds you like, progress it in anyway you want, sample it and chop it to pieces, whatever the fuck, just use it as a start to do something. Doesn't have to be a masterpiece, just do whatever comes to mind and maybe make it 20-30 seconds at minimum so it's got a little substance to get your idea across, otherwise it can be as long as you can be bothered to work on it. I will be amazed if even one person has a go to be honest.
