It's weird for me because I straight up do not read music publications but I ended up being a poptimist anyway. I've always leaned way hard on the experimental side of music but KKB one-shotted me, I got super into it and ended up loving shit like Charli or whatever. Now I honestly probably listen to more new pop records than I do new experimental shit.
I was also a big indie dork in the mid 00s and by like 2011 I thought all the new indie bullshit was garbage. Needed something to fill the hole maybe. I can't tell if my pivot towards pop was subtly influenced by poptimism or if it was organic on my part
