What are you listening these days? Jazz thread since last one died. Also I need help. Does the first note in the first bar which is E start on & of 2nd beat?
Haven't listened to a lot of jazz lately, unfortunately. Most of my recent vinyl has been more R&B and Disco stuff. I'm thinking about diving into more of the niche non-Blue Note 60s stuff, though.

Jazz is shitIt's not music is it. It's all "improvised", meaning it's made up on the spot. They're just playing random notes! If you asked them to play the song again, they can't, not the same way. They don't really know the song, because there isn't one. You look at jazz sheet music, it just has a few chords, the rest is made up - they literally call it a fake book, because it's fake. And what they do improvise is pure shit. Just random notes, going to and fro. Anyone could play that. I could pick up any instrument and play better than Coltrane, because he could never play. No emotion, it's shit. Jazz rose in the 1920s, when degeneracy was on the rise. Real men tried to stamp it down, but were stopped. Look outside your window. We still live in a "jazz age". Real music, like rock, pisses and shits on jazz. They should have a Jazz Demolition Derby. All jazz albums should be taken off youtube, all streaming, bandcamp. Before you listen to "Kind of Shit" by Piss Davis, which gets millions of views, listen to Legends, by Sabaton. There is an album to get the blood moving. Instead of being about NOTHING, it is about Templars, warriors, armies - things for real men, who have more things to do than sit around playing saxophone all day.

If you are into 80s miles you should check out Aura, it's kind of slept on.It was recorded in Denmark and he didn't really have any creative control over it, which makes it a Iittle tighter than his other fusion stuff. Also I think the second to last album he made.
>>130382014Fusion is more jazz than jazzFusion is the cooler jazz. Acoustic Jazz is for retarded uncs and job-less broke blacks.
>>130381961bro if you can’t read rests you shouldn’t be trying jazz
>>13038299980's Miles is underrated as fuck in general. People who claim to love fusionshit are actually only into rock fusion, they loathe every other form of fusion
>>130383542I know but I just love the tune so much
How is Jazz "rooted" in west african music, as leftists and black people like to say? It mostly uses diatonic scale, Its based around harmony, and it uses a 4/4 beat. These are all very distinctly European musical traits. The most fundamental aspects of it are all European in origin. It would seem more correct to say it's rooted in European music with some west african influence.
>>130386789Jazz stems from the age-old cry of pain of the Black people and was the music of rebellion against the tyranny of white people and the church.I literally heard this in lot of youtube essays.
>>130383428cool story whitey

>>130386789you don't listen to or understand jazz so why do you care
>>130386789clearly Congo Square is just left-wing fake history
>>130386789ps your card doesnt mean shit. there were lots of working musicians back then forming groups, and forming groups based around whatever music got popular. you fucking ignorant twat.

>>130383428Fusion is literally less jazz than Jazz, that's kinda the entire point of the subgenre lmao. Ignorant jizzstain
>>130381990Discovery is a great album, consider yourself filtered
so much filter you don't have music
>>130393011Even ignoring how reductive the rest of this is >Traditional Jazz, Small bands, Fusion Jazz, Large bands -- multiple rhythm sections Two of the most popular forms of early jazz were Third Stream and BIG BAND. They LITERALLY revolved around large bands with giant rhythm sections. To act like that's a fusion exclusive or even fusion heavy thing is disingenuous.Unless you're straight up calling Count Basie and Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman 'fusion' which is delusion at best.
>>130393011Where did you get this chart from?
>>130393615i never acted like fusion is "exclusive" in this regard retard, nice strawmanning
>>130389752Kek>>130390742>>130391304>>130391328>No response just seetheLmao, thanks for answering my question. Why does it hurt your little leftoid feelings so much to acknowledge the fundamental European origins of jazz? Is it because you worship black people?
>Rainy afternoonCheck.>CigarCheck.>WhiskeyCheck.>Scenery playing off the old record player, cracklingCheck.Yeah, I'm thinking we comfy tonight.
Jazz is basically just shitty classical music for leftist pseuds who worship black people.

>>130395634Even assuming the leftist history of Congo square is completely accurate. Some black people in New Orleans playing European music in a public square doesn't change what I said. It is still European music.
