Can someone explain to me why rappers in the 90s absolutely snapped, there was almost one album each year that is considered one of the greatest body of work ever created, why were those 20 year olds so ahead of their time?

There's something downright peculiar about Tupac

only niggers and underaged retards listen to rap.

I don't remember suge's head being that small, but it was a while ago.

Basically these guys lived in the studio. They hung out there all day with their friends and they were basically music gear nerds/band kids with a room full of toys. Thus, large amounts of music was recorded.

They had to work their way up through the ranks of hip-hop to make those albums, they were way more hungry, and studio time is not cheap, so their was a sense of urgency. The only way to make an album was through a label, and labels had A&R departments that actually had people with decent taste working these things and giving the yes or no to artists, helping them develop their music, telling them if they needed to work on their sound or if they sounded too much like another artist. Compare that to rappers who can make a near studio quality album in their bedrooms these days, no money being spent, no time limit, no urgency, and they don't really care if they sound like another rapper, because they often times want to, and you get a lot more limp and less hungry music that sounds similar to everything else.

A lot of them are super aware of this, I remember Lil Tecca saying that he was going to stop making music and that his fans would be okay because there was like five other rappers that sounded like him, which was completely true, because he sounded a lot like A Boogie at the time.

Crime rate was higher/there was more to rap about that hadn’t been done before. Now even if you had these same people in the studio there’s nothing left to talk about on a rap.

this picture has been subtly modified right? Suge looks like a black loops from the Mario bros movie, and pac looks…idk just a lil different.
