Undercover [Rolling Stones, 1984]What the fuck do people see in this bloated pile of murky shit? Granted, Mick Jagger does still slip into that vernacular specificity that other rock frontmen strive for, and despite the wind tunnel production, Keith Richards remains the incorrigible genius-by-accident he is. Also guess what? Two tracks contain political content, which I assume is supposed to fill me with gratitude. But guess what else? I'm such a churl that I'm only a sucker for good songs and these are as tiresome and witless and nasty as the rest. Their worst album. C

>>130403201this was the last "real" Stones album even if none of it ever got played live
>>130403201This was impressive though, for 40 year olds who were almost 20 years into their recording career they still sounded edgy and aggressive especially when you compare many of their contemporaries turning into increasingly lame mom music.
"Too Much Blood" was kind of tryhard though.

A surprisingly dumb move considering the outrage already encountered over the S&M billboard for Black and Blue. tf were they thinking?
>>130403201>>130403435The last time they still felt like a band, even though that sense of identity had fallen off after EOMS. It was also the last time they really tried at all in the studio (outside Bridges to Babylon although that doesn't have the band concept working), but not enough since the album falters pretty badly on the last three tracks. "It Must Be Hell" was a half-finished song.

>>130403645idk man, Undercover was like the last time Jagger still had a sense of what was cool and Keith's rock puritanism wasn't a hindrance. after that Jagger really didn't have his finger on the pulse anymore. Keith still had a fascination with reggae although he seemed unwilling to actually try it on a Stones album.
