What's your opinion on the experience of listening to music on a cassette tape? What do you think of the recent resurgence in popularity cassette tapes have had in recent years?
>>
i was young and sober but high from youth when i was listening to cassettes. i can't see myself becoming young again or maybe having the hormones of a young person so if i listened to cassettes now it wouldn't be the same.

I like recording onto Type II and IV tape, but precorded ferric tapes just sound like shit to me most of the time

I'm a firm supporter of going analog but minidisk already exists and is exponentially better.

pointless gimmick.
its an inherently limited format, both in terms of practicality and sound quality, the only advantage of which was that it made affordable home recording possible 30+ years ago. digital audio made it only real purpose obsolete, and it doesn’t even have the possibility of genuine high fidelity sound that CD or vinyl can offer to people who want a nostalgic but still usable physical format for whatever reason.

complete aids-riddled faggot. cassettes are fun, 8-tracks are fun, music is fun. go here if you ""care"" about specs, practicality and muh use case:

idk about music but tape recording is unironically superior for long term archival

I like them but theyre are easily damaged due to heat and most of the old tapes ive picked up second hand are wore out
>>
>>130405119
the warm hissing sound was subliminally comfy, rewinding and forwarding to go to a specific track was a chore.

unironically better than vinyl.

>easier to keep, just avoid uv and magnets, and heat
>can be played in a car if so equipped
>smaller
>cheaper (although not as cheap as they should really be)
>don't have to get autistic about needles and scratches on playing surface
>doesn't get abraded by the reader itsekf like how a needle will wear out the grooves every time you play it

I have some Black Sabbath songs that I ripped from one of my dad's friend's tapes. At the start of Gypsy, I can actually hear a clicking sound, which is me at 14 tapping on my desk before realizing I might screw up the recording.
