>Maneskin = any generic 70s band but shit
>The Paradox = Blink-182 but meh
>Geese = Strokes but shit
>The Warning = Muse but meh + hot chicks

Why are zoomers so fuckin derivative and creatively bankrupt?
>>
>>130405896
It's a "meta" generation, they live vicariously through other people's past
>>
maneskin and paradox are spiritually millennials.
it's not possible to fuck with blink without being a millennial or being indocrinated into it
>>
unironically the warning's albums were better when they wre like 12 year olds even though still corny asf. they used to have better songwriters
>>
>>130405896
Don't pretend most of the late 2000s and 2010s indie scene wasn't just the same derivative bullshit even if you can argue on quality. So it's magically okay when a Millennial band does "Midwest Emo Revival", "Garage Rock Revival" or "Dance-Punk Revival?". No it's the same derivative bullshit impulse. There were Millennial bands who made bank ripping off Cap n' Jazz but your criticisms aren't being applied to them. The endless Hardcore bands that played shows and released music on bandcamp throughout the 2000s, 2010s and the 2020s? Same derivative bullshit. Blackgaze was original in the modern scene but not much else. Also The Warning was outed by a Mexican anon as being a shill operation. Yes Geese were shilled by Chaotic Good along with many other artists. The Paradox are mediocre and I don't know the deal with Maneskin. Don't throw stones from a glass house. If you're a rap guy or an EDM guy i'd get it but since you're a rock guy you're a fucking hypocrite.

It's been proven for a couple of months now. They were found to be working with Chaotic Good Projects who astroturf with fake fan comments and fake fan accounts on social media.

You might be able to say that each round of the retro carousel produces results that are more lacklustre, more superficial, than the one before, but idk, sort of gets murky when you're trying to come to definitive conclusions.
The 80s had Shakin' Stevens for cryin out loud.

All genres have been invented, fuckheads. We've just been through the hyperpop fad which was just "screw it, let's just sit on a piano".
What the hell is left to innovate in music?
>>
>>130409944
>i am not innovative, imaginative nor creative
okay lol have fun crywanking yourself to sleep
>>
>>130409998
Invent a new genre now since you're so creative.
>>
>>130410009
The concept of 'new genres' is a bit weird nowadays as true forward movements in culture are usually brought on by technical advancements.
The only current technical advancement that can move the culture forward is sadly AI. So let's just ask grok to make up a new genre and leave this convo behind so we can listen to actual music made by actual people and stop focusing on retarded hypotheticals
>>
>>130409944
Do you think all the previous genres were hypothesized in PKD novels before materializing in a lab?
The whole point of innovation is we don't know what it is until it's concieved of.
>>
>>130410419
People R&Ding new technology used to work alongside artists to see what potential new tools had for that. Martin Hannet was given the worlds first digital delay circuit and used it to record Unknown Pleasures, Les Paul was an artist himself and was the first user of multi track recording, the prototypes for every modern guitar pedal were given to Jimi Hendrix to play with while he was in Britain. The Art Of Noise was a group formed around multiple people dicking around with what was essentially the first modern DAW.
There is nothing like that happening in the tech world anymore. It's all jist marketing satanists trying to make kids into gambling addicts
>>
>>130411140
It's all changed now cause those incremental advancements you're talking about, while pivotal and forward pushing, are now maybe 1% of all possible things you can do with sound.
I think we'll have to invent a new way of categorizing future music (at least the tiny fraction of it that wont be able to be called slop)
>>
Are they good live? Do they enjoy what they do? Do people enjoy their music? Literally all that matters. You think someone wakes up one day and think "Hmm I need to write music pseuds on /mu/ will praise otherwise I am not a real musician". Get real faggots. I bet some of you fags listen to music you don't even enjoy because you want to look good.
>>

I don't know about those other bands but seeing Daniela Villareal having so much fun playing the guitar is what finally motivated me to pick up an instrument. And AFAIK they've received a lot of endorsements from famous artists so it's not like they're fraud. Mike Portnoy had their latest album on his top 10 of 2024 IIRC.

Boomer retards can't fathom we aren't in the 70s anymore and shit goes viral. The Warning got Viral 10 years ago for their Metallica cover and they started from there. Angine de Poitrine recently blew up after the KEXP video blew up. Doesn't make them plants.

This 100%. How on earth can you listen to this and say it sounds like the Strokes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt9P9CFZZpU
>>
>>130405896
The trick is not listening to those bands you compare them to, then it sounds new and fresh. Ultimately that's how it works for most people, virtually nobody listening to Rock or Metal or Pop listened to the precursors of the genre and its most famous and best contributors. In a lot of cases people find artists to listen to by chance or through acquaintances, even more the case nowadays since the youth doesn't listen to the radio anymore.

You're giving that Mexican anon a lot of credit. I don't know when this "outing" happened, but it ws painfully obvious to me that the band was being astroturfed a few years ago when I kept seeing The Warning (Mexican Rock Band) threads here on /mu/ on a daily basis.

Why the fuck would anyone shill here of all places? 4chan's /mu/ is like 0.001% of the population of Reddit and an even smaller portion of TikTok, Youtube and Instagram. Even paying a singular person to shill here wouldn't be a good investment, especially considering the population of this board is older millenials with abnormal tastes. It's like those retards on /v/ who think every game is being shilled.

If someone is being paid to shill a band online, why not shill on 4chan alongside every other place you mentioned?
>>
>>130412707
You don't need ID to make accounts for Instagram or anything though? You think having to make an account is too big an hurdle so people will opt to shill here instead? What's next? Shilling on IRC channels? You have to be delusional as fuck to think /mu/ has any relevance to anyone since the mid 2000s. I swear "shillfags" are people who want to feel more important and relevant than they actually are (not at all).

>>130412773
Juice ain't worth the squeeze. There are no mechanisms on this website to bring visibility to a specific thread other than constant bumping and it's impossible to bump without being extremely obviously fake. One could argue that this thread is doing a better job at promoting the 4 bands at the OP than a bonafide shill could do making a dedicated thread for one of those bands.

It's not like there's a limit to how many bands of a genre that can exist at once. The existence of those derivative bands is not preventing the birth of le epic unique band you crave.

I don't know about that. When I saw Rick Beato mention The Warning in that one video he posted the other day, my first thought was "Hey, I know that band!" So I guess the shilling succeeded in getting people like me to remember their name.
>There are no mechanisms on this website to bring visibility to a specific thread other than constant bumping and it's impossible to bump without being extremely obviously fake.
Fake or not, the person shilling athe Warning was doing so by posting pictures conventionally attractive women doing stuff that generally looks kind of cool to people. This place being an imageboard people can use freely without having to make an account means there is very little friction to posting pictures of these attractive women looking cool. Also, somebody probably saw the constant threads on the front page full of people obsessing over female singers and thought this would be a good place to do the same for The Warning. I doubt anyone was wasting too much time posting pictures of the band here while also making their rounds on other platforms. I'm willing to bet that a Hayley Williams stan probably checked out The Warning after seeing those threads every day for weeks in end.

The Oh Sees may have been retro but there was no band you could directly say they rip off. Same with Ty Segall. You can fault them for not being innovative but they injected plenty of their own personality and style into what they did and I think the same can be said about a lot of the other indie bands from that time too. Geese is the only band of the 4 mentioned that even somewhat add their own sense of personality into their music and Foreskin is unapologetically just royalty-free pastiche.
