I was 22 in 2011. It was the kids 5-7 years younger than me who thought dubtstep was cool. To my ears, it was the most disgusting shit I've ever heard. I'd never heard anything that sounded less intelligent in my life. This coincided with Grimes becoming popular, so afaic, you either evolved in the direction of Grimes or you devolved into wherever dubstep was going.
