>check the archives and postI'll start Elisabeth Welch 1904-2003https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2utpcQAE1R0
>>130424129I just checked and I’ve actually rated something by her on rym
>>130424152oh wow she has a number one song in 1936 on RYM had no ideanevertheless she has never been mentioned on /mu/ before, unless someone autistically looked at all the top 100 songs for every year
This should be a first on this boardhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjS1GEBF04Y
>>130424129this was an obscure austin band from the 90s. i'll admit i've posted it before but only in threads like this.
Searching the archive is too hard realistically
>>130425575you use the search function and see if there's a result.I'm pretty sure there are thousands of artists not mentioned here before. My OP being an example
>>130426869I wonder who’s the most famous artist to never be mentioned on /mu/
>>130426876Probably some sort of regional icon that's huge in a non-english speaking country. I'm thinking either a chinese or indian dude.
>>130424129>Andrea MartinCool late 90 R&B singer who did a lot of behind the scenes songwriting and background vocals around the scene. Got her name from plucking credits lists.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGoqjctqpqg>YahzarahSimilar story but with 2000s neo-soul/hip-hop. Learned about her from the credits to Erykah Badu's Mama's Gun. Real smooth stuff. I was going to mention N'Dambi as well, who also sang backup on that album, but somebody brought her up on /mu/ 12 years ago, so props to that anonhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8HEjdPaXT8>Amy KoitaKind of an easy target since it's an old school Malian singer but I think this is too cool not to share. Super neat grooves backing this lady's powerful vocalshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkYQaWVZQyc>Del CieloIndie rock band from Virginia. Suprised they haven't been mentioned even if they're not well known at all.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZS95NJEDkes>Chuckii BookerLate 80s/early 90s R&B groovy dude. Was rubbing shoulders with Janet Jackson and all. Very surprised to get no results when searching his name on the archive. Especially since some of his songs have had tens of millions of streams. This one might be my favorite.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5MtJsFe88g>Tally BrownA regular of the New York underground spheres of the 60/70s. I don't know if she ever properly released a record but she has one of my absolute favorite Bowie covers ever, doing a stripped down and passionate rendition of Heroes here, complete with a German passage from its German version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWzGvrxNgpw
songs i like froma rtist i've never senn mentioned/discussed here:broken family bandhttps://youtu.be/MWCpVoqviwEautonshttps://youtu.be/0I1UzW9d4gkbrides make acidhttps://youtu.be/KYfyteAmnocLegend Shingo Kubota, started in the late 70's with the group 8 1/2 along with koji ueno (halmens, guernica). After that released in the 80's a tring of highly consistent releases with muscle beat and under his own name apart from releasing music under the name stardust brothers along with another great name Kan Takagi, as a soundtrack for the movie of the same name directed by macoto tezuka. Kept releasing new music in the 90's onwards and the new music released under the name shingo kubota and old lucky boys between 2015 and 2019 is pretty strong. Keeping releasing pretty good music through different decades is an indicator for me of a great artist in general.https://youtu.be/jCOyKcMFhRI?si=hz4rhqE6PS58EXL2 https://youtu.be/9UeOauS0j2c https://youtu.be/weDGxXd8WNs https://youtu.be/ybyJzMJ3gQs https://youtu.be/A3rRlGcc6bA
>>130424129>Friends from highschool-core
I’m gonna put in High Broom, a band who I only know about because I had a “Dancing In The Moonlight” phase. The Link to their coverhttps://youtu.be/HpDiL4qqZc8playlist of most notable dancing in the moonlightshttps://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0RF0y2bfUAOZkrExHgyWicMnHrZwbdlk&si=VQN7P21_FzmjD9J6
I am a devoted collector of (solo) highland bagpipe music; a good chunk of my favorite albums are recordings of solo pipers; I’m generally autistic and have no connection to the culture whatsoever.

SHIKI (made techno like AIR and Mercury Lamp, deceased currently)? A lot of the archive results for "SHIKI" are referring to different contexts, but I doubt this SHIKI (God rest his soul) has gone unmentioned here completelyDitto Cranky (known for "Conflict" and "La Campanella Nu Rave")Koriigahn would also be here if he weren't Emperor nowadaysRusino but they have like 1 good song, and even whether it's good or not is debatable considering the mv is like 99% ai slop and many elements are ripped off from lagtrainStian K and his label Russetunes were like big among Norwegian high schoolers in like 2009I literally grew up with my dad blasting 周华健 in the car and it's certainly grown on meThere's also A Poka Mne 16 or whoever it was stolen from (it was like "Marty McFly" or some shit) but that'd be a one hit wonder too
>>130428592Thank you for this list. I'm surprised how many views Rusino has
>>130424129https://isaacbearmusic.bandcamp.com/album/colors-of-this-earthThis random band sent me a spam youtube PM back when personal messaging on youtube was a thing and even though they went nowhere their album became my favorite math rock album of all time.
>>130428532>Michael CusackLol this needs to be sent to the Smiling Friends co-creator of the same name.
