>we have The Who at home
Great album, not a full home run but it has some of the best songs in the genre so that counts for something
the first pop punk album
>>130435414>not a full home runit's one of the few albums that is tho
>>130435383this basically solved punk
>>130441000Solved punk by not being punk?
>>130441000Not a punk album
Best Punk album of all time
I did not care for the reggae stuff
>>130441000My War and Slip it In solved punk
>>130439014I don't think so. I think the only album they have that's a home run is the self titled. I think every song is right in its place for the record and the genre. After that I think people have very strong opinions about any given album up to at least 1982
>>130435383Not sure what you mean but fuck these faux-working class 70s Blur wankers. They need to go back to Jamaica and finished getting fucked up. Lolololol
>>130443676>Not sure what you meanthat the clash is a knockoff the who
Clash could never write Magic Bus.
>>130435383>>130443703Clash could never molest boys as good as Pete Townshend
>>130441017>>130441044explain how it isn't punk
>>130443841True he's an all time great.
The Who was some pretty bad shit come to think of it>>130439014There's a lot of crap on it
>>130444953what are your favorite albums?
>>130445219the 3 good metallica onesrust in peaceappetite for destruction
the who>>>>>>>...> clash
>>130444360it's just basic bitch guitar pop
>>130446206>metallica>good albums
I had never listened to a "punk" album before, I had no idea what "punk" was supposed to sound like. I expected something like metal, some distortion or screamo. So when I put this album on and it sounded like surf music, I double checked if I didn't get the wrong CD.
>>130444360Because it's pop rock
>>13044924480stallica >>>>> ur fave
>>130449268surf rock and punk have been connected since the 60s
>>130443676>muh street credgo back to hiphop fag
>>130436091>>130441000>>130441987>>130449268>>130449362>>130454469>>130444360You're mostly all wrong. The Clash is a reggae band. Joe Strummer was an extremely early example of, or perhaps a predecessor to, the white rasta
>>130454491Fuck hiphop and fuck your private school, homo
>>130454507The Clash is whatever they're doing. London Calling is all those genre's but it doesn't matter. Genre arguments are gay and irrelevant at the end of the day.
>>130454627Just sayin, his intention was to be play jamaican music. that's why he talks like that. don't say it doesn't sound like reggae, that would hurt JS' feelngs
>>130454640>that would hurt JS' feelngshow? he's dead
>>130454675he'll know.
>>130454507>>130454640See the opening lines of this Greil Marcus article from 1984. There's no question that reggae was important to Strummer (and the whole band), proof is recorded at the beginning of Lightning Strikes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FY1QjMDlMCc, and to punk as it merged more with reggae in early post punk and etc. But I don't think Strummer ever said or thought of The Clash as reggae only. He set his sights on "world music" literally and figuratively for the band I think.
>>130454710ok that's really a very relevant quote. I still think he wished it was reggae though
do you ever think arguing over labels is retarded and each band/artist should be judged individuallyrather than trying to box them in
>>130454797no. and Joe Strummer's ghost probably hates that you said that.
The Clash was so influential that Joe Strummer was a wigger before wiggers were really a thing
The Who Sucks though. The Clash rule. I heard The Clash before The Who, and I would never come to the conclusion that they're similar. You're weird.
