Who are the worst singers to ever be in successful bands?I'll start with an obvious one: Vince Neil
Bill Corgan
>>130436954vince was perfectly serviceable as a singer until he let himself go and became Vince Meal in the 2000s
>>130436954Bob Dylan
>>130436954Getting the easy ones out of the way: Adam Levine, Eddie Vedder, Rob Thomas, Thom Yorke, Scott Stapp, Chad Kroeger.
the guy from cake
>>130437021to be fair to vince when his daughter died from cancer he just gave up on life. he literally just stopped caring about anything. got a really bad eating disorder, became a bad alcoholic, wanted to die.he hasn't really tried at anything in his life since. he's a shell of a man
>>130436954PING PONG WALLA WALLA DING DONG HEROIN CALIFORNIA DING DANG DONG DONG 14 YEAR OLD CHON CHON
>>130436954>>130437095I was thinking of posting Anthony Keidis but my problem with him isn’t the singing, moreso the lyrics
The real answer is the guy from Foster the People. Even on record, he's terrible. Live, even worse (so I'm told).
>>130437206I don't like either
>>130437206He is certainly the weakest link in that band, but I guess his voice is part of their sound.
>>130437043not a band
>>130436954Emily Armstrong. She’s a Scientologist that didn’t earn Linkin Parks success
>>130437055all very talented singers
>>130436954the ''bap doop beep doop beep keleyfownia'' guy you know
>>130436954Roger Waters
>>130436954fuck it, peter gabriel
Teresa Brewer, lol.
Vince sounded good SUPER early on live, and on their studio stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weBAG5Ks9FE
>>130437087we can still save him, give him all your power brosAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>>130436954Was Titus Andronicus successful?Because if so, that guy
>>130437043This so muchVince Neil is a way better singer than Bob DylanBilly Corgan is a way better singer than Bob DylanAdam Levine, Eddie Vedder, Rob Thomas, Thom Yorke, Scott Stapp and Chad Kroeger are all way better singers than Bob Dylan>>130437621Agreed, she's trash
>>130437725yeah he might be "bad" at singing, but thats what makes him great. that man is a talented vocalist
>>130437621Chester the Molester was one of the shittiest vocalists of all time as well
>>130437746>>130437043Bands, not solo singers.
>>130437621And yet her PR team keep shilling with bots on /mu/. How pathetic, no one gives a shit about that dyke
the guy from wayne coyne the guy from thurston moore the guy from alex g the guy from roar the guy from sufjan stevens the guy from elliott smith the guy from wilco the guy from soup dragons
He kinda sucks at singing. He can sing but he sounds stupid on purpose.
Bryan Ferry sounds like a drunk dwarf
>>130439917Buy on ferry.
>>130438051>man is a talented vocalistBullshit. His voice is tolerated because of the extraordinary band he played in. If a man with that voice were to go to the Karaoke singing Sweet Caroline you would tell him to shut the fuck up.
>>130436954Corpsegrinder, the definition of cookie cutter
>>130439917In the 70s, yes, on the Avalon he sang very well.
>>130436954Lou Reed>>130437087God took his daughter's life as vengeance for Vince taking Razzle's life
>>130437043He really is the worst successful singer of all time
Vince Meal is so awful I can't even think of a remotely plausible alternate contender, OP.
>>130437398>>130438623He's the only one on this thread who has played with The Band.
>>130436954I never heard a live taping of him where he sounded competent where there wasn't obvious post-prod processing and correction, even back when the band was supposedly "good". Similar to solo Ozzy>>130436954
Bowie was a good singer in the early days but by 1974 or so he'd just trashed his voice from drug use.
>>130440517Mince Meal
Frank Zappa. He knew his singing sucked and that is why he always hired the best vocalists he could find, but as leader he had to sing a lot anyway.Fuck's sake, he hated lyrics. He only threw them in because he believed that teeny-boppers needed something to sing along to, so he filled his songs with stupid lyrics that were sometimes funny. Also, he hired these two for a couple of years to be his lead singers.
>>130442121and while we're at it, Napoleon Murphy Brock had an awful voice as well.
Couple of singers went from great to awful die to age. Geoff Tate had a golden voice but blew out his chords by 1992 and still tried to sing. Sinatra is the classic example of a world-class singer who just wouldn't quit even when he was croaking like a frog.
>>130441873>OzzySome of his demos where he's not been able to go in and redo things are legit atrocious.https://youtu.be/vaH770UfBCc
the ac/dc guysboth of 'em
>>130436954andrew eldritch sounds cool in the sisters or mercy but would be useless as a singer in any other context
