Cobain was right, this is just depressed hair metal music

Based Coburn
Didn't realize he was an AiC fan
>>
>>130440761
And it's great
>>
>>130440761
>Cobain was right
Not once in his life
>>
>>130440761
Not surprising. Alice N Chainz, Layne's previous band, was part of Seattle's Glam scene, and even AiC's first album Facelift has songs with downtuned Glam riffs especially the B-side. "Sunshine", "Put You Down", "I Know Somethin (Bout You)" and "Real Thing" all have Glam/Sleaze riffs.

It's a fantastic album better than any Nirvana album.

Thanks ChatJeetPt! Boy what a glorious day to be gooning to Pop sluts amirite sir? Wow they sure have me hot under the collar just like the B-side "Sunshine"
>>
havent heard a single track from them

"Put You Down" sounds like something a grittier Sunset Strip Hair band would play. "I Know Somethin (Bout You)" features those Funk influences lots of their contemporaries were doing at the time including Mother Love Bone and Malfunkshun.

What a bunch of fucking posers lol
>>
>>130444494
killing yourself with heroin isn't enough to make you authentically grunge?
>>
>>130442945
>https://youtu.be/ucp1yNPDu-Y
starts off funk and then goes into Aerosmith-style hard rock
>>
>>130444563
>authentically grunge

Nobody used that phrase apart insolent music journalists. The entire Seattle scene scoffed at the term and even used it ironically. It was never intended to be a self-descriptor. In fact, they trolled music journalists with fake slang that a clueless NYT writer ran with:

>>
>>130444647
And, at that time, Aerosmith had a Glam Metal tune:

>depressed hair metal music
That sounds absolutely fantastic. Glam is better than grunge anyway, specially Brutal Glam like AiC.
>>
Jerry was on amoeba what’s in my bag and says he likes montley Crüe and AC/DC they are posers!
>>
>>130440761
He never said that.
But he told Courtney after he wrote YKYR that this was his "Alice in Chains song".

I later realised that if you listen to that verse muffled guitar riff from YKYR, it kinda sounds like a take on Would's verse. Like he rewrote Would as this wailing goodbye song using a style that was more typical of AiC than Nirvana.
>>
>>130440761
Nirvana and AIC sound way closer to each other than to Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and most other Grunge bands.
>>
he shot coke with them in brazil, this was an early edgy opinion he shared
>>
>>130442945
Wow thank you Nineveh! You are for sure an oldfag and definitely not a little Indian gooner! Wow!
>>
>>130449505
>totally not mad 11 hours 20 minutes later
>>
looking up his opinion he simultaneously thought Dirt was a great album but called AiC corporate puppets, maybe the puppet part was first and then he later liked the music
>>
>>130442945
Sunshine has a god tier chorus and vocal harmony though

>>130442842
what are you 15? One of the 10 biggest bands of the 90s easily
>>
>>130449534
>SAAR YOU ARE OF BEING THE MAD MMMM TIMMY YOU CAN WATCH ME AND MAGGIE MMMM YES I AM CEO
>>
>>130449614
The whole album is solid, and yeah, "Sunshine" is one of the highlights. As you mentioned, they really knew how to harmonize those vocals. The Glam influences don't bother me the least as I grew up listening to lots of Hair bands.

For me, it's "We Die Young", "Sea of Sorrow", "Bleed the Freak", "I Can't Remember", "Love Hate Love", "Put You Down" and "Sunshine". "Man in the Box" is alright, but goddamn, was it played to death on all those Rock stations.

Dirt and Jar of Flies, to me, are their absolute best.
>>
>>130449714
For sure and that list of facelift songs is essentially mine though Put You Down falls under the generic tracks of the album and Man in the Box could never be overplayed for me and then Confusion is a really great track.
>>
I don't like either bands but Alice in Chains is way more musically interesting than Nirvana, Cantrell is really good. ironically the vocals and lyrics are the weakest part of the band, le generic grunge voice (idc if they pioneered it, still sucks) + obnoxious whiny bitch lyrics
>>
>>130440761
Cobain was an insufferable contrarian
who cares what his opinions are
>>
>>130444673
does that make him a poser though?
>>
>>130451847
AiC just wanted to rock more than anything else. They weren't there to make progressive social statements like Nirvana or Pearl Jam were. If that makes them posers, so be it.
>>
>>130444673
>>130440761
What a bunch of lamestains
