What are your genuine thoughts on Geordie Greep, Black Midi, Cameron Picton's new band, etc
>>
Desperately wants to be Steely Dan.

Black Midi was a great band, his solo album was quite disappointing though. I like his lyrics a lot but he writes way too much sometimes, like he wants his songs to be movies.
>>
I like the Cameron album a lot

Steely Dan used their technical proficiency to made catchy pop songs instead of an indulgent garbled mess
>>
>>130460096
I'm enough of a Black Midi fan to have seen them live. I wanted to support them because they were young and making avant music. Then they disbanded and I stopped listening to them.
>>
>>130460096
Did he make up that accent

The reason why Black Midi and Geordie Greep are popular in the first place is because they make music that's very technical and experimental while still being catchy.
>>
What do we think of his music taste? https://www.last.fm/user/TheGreep

So it's prog for people who don't like prog

I went to the black midi concert one time and it was all you people and redditors in the crowd (parents in the back). They never played bmbmbm. It was then I knew it was over.

All three black midi albums I started out liking only one or two songs on each, but I couldn’t help but return. And I ended up genuinely and thoroughly loving all three of their records. I get why this place, cynical as it is, has a lot of people who won’t even consider them. But I think black midi was excellent, and the videos of their live shows are impressive. I also think The New Sound is fantastic. It also had to grow on me a bit, but the opener is explosive and As If Waltz is probably my favorite track Greep ever cooked up. Just a heartfelt and genuinely very sad song about falling in love with a prostitute that I think applies to the internet as well, and I love how it ends in a bombastic guitar solo. Not super big on the new Cameron album yet. Patiently awaiting whatever is next from Greep though

Overall I love them and think they have a lot of good songs. Though it took a bit for me to warm up to their slightly cringey theatricality. I wish more people here liked them but anything that RYM, pitchfork, or fantano like, they have to hate. Also it’s zoomers so they have to hate them, no good music has been made since blah blah blah

hes a quadroon, easy to tell if you know

They're the best Gen Z live performance I've seen, saw them 3 times on their home turf in London, only time in my lifetime I've felt I was legit witnessing popcultural history in the flesh
>>
Black Midi fucking sucks. A bunch of people i know in real life recommended them specifically to me and I dont get why
>>
black midi's only good album was their debut
>>
He has some really intelligent and mature lyrics that go over most peoples' heads
