I was watching an interview with Don Preston (he is 93 and is still playing shows) and saw in the comments that someone met him in VR chat. I thought it was a joke but I looked that shit up and this is the video I stumbled upon. There are no fucking views on it, and it's an hour long, I'm not watching this shit but the fact that some zoomer even made it???.
https://youtu.be/2-1RHHWqio4
And I also saw a Reddit thread where some guy said he managed to befriend Preston until he started being creepy around the ex of the guy and stalking her on the Metaverse lmao.
What the actual fuck is wrong with Silent Generation and boomers?
>>
Which band is most lyrically interesting?
VdGG is up there I think
>>
>>130478575
didn't know this lol. there's also some other vids of him playing keyboards to others in vr chat using an asian avatar
he PLAYED the keyboards on uncle meat. he's in the clear for now.

>What the actual fuck is wrong with Silent Generation and boomers?
anyone in their 90s is a stubbed toe away from death's door
no shits left to give
>>
>>130478575
wasn't one of the original mothers members a literal convicted child molester? frank surrounded himself with freaks, but i cannot imagine any other kind of people making the music they did back in the 60s
>>
>>130475554
Lyrical references to gang violence, murder, prostitution and fornication. Yeah, kids music alright.

Oh yeah. I forgot children listen to lyrics. I was recommending it solely on the musical simplicity.

which elp epic do you like better? tarkus or karn evil 9?

recently relistened to the two and i definitely prefer tarkus. not only is it the best thing they ever did, but it's one of the few prog epics that actually feels like a single flowing piece of music instead of being a couple of songs glued together.
karn evil 9 is still awesome but the 3rd impression is super cringe (cool keyboard solo aside)
>>
>>130480318
1st impression is a classic but I just can’t get interested in the rest. Tarkus is all killer.
>>
>>130460658
That's not Peter Gabriel it's his evil identical twin Gabriel Peters
>>
>>130480190
>musical simplicity.

Yes, Firth of Fifth and The Battle of Epping Forest are very musically simple...
>>
>>130480318
>one of the few prog epics that actually feels like a single flowing piece of music
Basically this, except Mass ("the preacher said a prayer...") comes out of nowhere.

That being said, for me, it's ironically Memoirs of an Officer and a Gentleman

>Mass ("the preacher said a prayer...") comes out of nowhere.
Many of those epics had an upbeat middle section, presumably to change up the mood a little. Supper's Ready had Willow Farm.

Peter Gabriel IS evil
>>
>>130484135
Okay? The point is Tarkus feels like one song with the exception of Mass. Trying to counter by saying an epic that is a stitching together of a handful of different songs has an upbeat middle section is a non-sequitur.

What was your entry point into prog rock? Farewell to Kings for me.
And even to this day Xanadu is one of the most kino 11 minutes in prog history and I'll fight anyone who disagrees.
