why does rym overrate south american music?
>>130466397I would like to see an actual explanation for this
Rym demographic is npr demographic
>>130466397part of it is similar to how weebs overrate garbage cartoons because they're tasteless shiteaters who like anything japanesebut to a much lesser degree and with many decent artists mixed in as well

>>130466397It's by users from that area. Music scenes South and Central America are very very alive. And also much less semitic than Western. I recommend you give it a try, OP

>>130466397our music is goodplease notice us

>>130466397Nice try weeb, we know the biggest issue on rym is overrating asian music and tranny music
>>130466397What I've found is that a lot of South American music seems to be aping trends from Pitchfork era indie bands. Lots of lush indie pop and late 2000s shoegaze coming out of there. Also a good amount of cool metal projects.I listen to some of that stuff and feel nostalgic because I'm an old fuck but typically it's just on par with the old P4K shit, very rarely better. There's very little reason for the typical neurodivergent RYM teen to rate them higher than North American or European bands from 20 years ago outside of these newer South American bands being from a more exotic location.

they overrate any music produced by what they perceive to be a victim class - trannies, blacks, latinx, etc, as a way to affirm to themselves that they're on the right side of history
>>130466397they overrate anything that's obscure or different in general, because the novelty of finding something outside of what's popular and well known obscures their ability to listen to the actual quality of the music. they want to believe that if its obscure that its a masterpiece. i know the psych and prog charts are a very good example of this.
>>130466397I think it's hipster Latinx fetish, there's no way there are that many Latin Americans using rym. Now this ranking is already biased because bl*ck m*di's sharts are there, but are we deadass, Jardin above anything by Genesis, Gentle Giant, or even the Italian greats like PFM? It's a good album but it's variations on Capitan Beto for 30 something minutes
i also find it hilarious that people with japanese or latin music fetishes only like music from those countries thats totally derivative from western music. they never listen to anything remotely traditional
>>130466397all the trannies have white guilt
>>130466397>>130470197Nope it's actually South Americans. When I was in University / College I was friendly with an Argentine who played Soda Stereo at the music club. It's legit. As this stuff climbs the charts that increases the incentives for non Latin Americans to listen to this stuff. That's what made me curious in the first place. I've seen random arse Latin American soundcloud rap albums from the 2020s climb the charts like there's no way that's from us Anglos that would be bullshit.
>>130472392There’a a lot of latinx on rym now. Especially on the forums, click on an account and 20% chance they’re from argentina or brazil or chile
>>130466397Latinx cultural insecurity mostly, some of it is genuinely good like that Cerati bloke and Charly Garcia thoughever
>>130466397just western music with a Latin coat, much like the japanese niqqas
Is there even a single south american album in top 200?Or is it like how people bitch that it "overrates" japanese music and there are only 2 japanese artists in top 200.
>>1304744964.Also for Japanese music the #1 album and song is Japanese when you include live music
Doesn't South America also have a large metal scene? Especially Brazil and Chile
