Rap was kinda lowbrow attempt to sound like disco but with just talk instead of singing.It appeared in the disco era and mimicked its beat and electronic effects.But I think it came out of the MC culture, they had these events where there was a guy who was doing turntable scratching and talking in between pieces.So rap expanded on the talk while using a disco beat.A very unfortunate genre spawnInitially it might have sounded interesting due to some vague impression that it could be like a new strand of funk but with sampling
