what's the gen z consensus? particularly if they're newer artists, ie not ones from "my era." is it giving "hello, fellow zoomers" or does nobody care? and yes, i'm aware that as a wise old man i shouldn't be concerned with such social frivolities but i'm just curious.
there are 3 cases where anyone gives a shit1: a dude really into the band will give you a nice shirt or talk to you about the band2: youre wearing edgy cannibal corpse type shut and most people roll their eyes3: youre somewhere tshirts arent appropriateother than that no one cares breh
>>130469844i don't wear band shirts anymore because i'm afraid someone is going to start questioning me about them and even if it's a band i like and have been listening to for years i feel as if it's going to result in me getting BTFO'd in a knowledge-off and ultimately humiliated
OP, if you care at all about what anyone thinks, you're not an unc. You're basically still a child.
>>130470003op here, something i fear as well since i mostly listen to albums straight through and can't name half the songs on them, even if i know them all by heart and have heard them 100 times. "so what's your favorite song, gramps?" "uhh it's in the middle of their newest album...">>130470023i certainly still feel youthful, thanks for the compliment
>>130469844I moved to a small town and there are plenty of guys with band shirts here.
Only rule is: don’t be a zoomer who can’t name at least five songs from the artist.
>>130469844>is it giving "hello, fellow zoomers"Zoomers don't even listen to music, no one thinks uncs wearing graphic tees are trying to emulate zoomies
>>130469844no one cares.for me, it has less to do with "oh look I'm into this band!" than it does with the graphics on the T-shirt. I'm not too into the melvins but their shirts are fuckin' cool, so I wear them.Crybaby cringemeister gatekeepers get mad, literally nobody else cares.
>>130470422only rule is: don't be a fragile, insecure gatekeeper who gets triggered by the sartorial choices made by others.I want to go to the a The Last Dinner Party show wearing a t-shirt that says "I can't name 5 TLDP songs."https://www.theguardian.com/music/2024/sep/30/lincoln-venue-apologises-treatment-of-male-gig-goers-last-dinner-party-concert
>>130469844I think it's mostly about the design itself, not the band.Shirts with clean, simple graphics can be worn even by the oldest uncs, flashy shirts with bright colors and tacky pictures are excusable only if you're like 13.
>>130469844I literally have this shirt lmao
>>130469844I think it's fine for like legacy bands or simple deigns. The only band shirt I have left is a Slayer t-shirt that just has their logo on it. I couldn't imagine wearing some edgy death metal shirt in my 30's.
>>130469844You shouldn't look for our approval. Most of the people you are going to be interacting with are your own peers anyway.
>>130469844I wear a Gwar shirt to big shows and I always meet older rock/metal dudes and gals. We share stories about getting covered in red, orange, green, and blue spray and how much fun the live shows were. Usually buy each other beer too. Gwar bros are good bros
>>130469844Even the concept of "unc" basically doesn't exist and nobody cares about, it's just a gen-alpha slang term they use because they're afraid to get old. Not even legit zoomers say "unc", maybe boomer ironically but zoomers are near 30, most of them have embraced adulthood and are dealing with it pretty well.Canonically, people of all ages have always tried to stay young. Therefore you can rock tattoos and band shirts at any age, it's even a sign of a youthful mind. Don't bother with what gen-alphas think because they were raised with Pat Patrol and TikTok brainrot.
>>130475556>it's just a gen-alpha slang term >Not even legit zoomers say "unc", maybe boomer ironicallyBullshit. This doesn't have shit to do with Gen Alpha. The unc thing is a Younger Gen Z thing with Some Older Gen Z as well. Legit Zoomers say unc all the fucking time. Gen Alpha have only picked up on what people on TikTok are doing. Like most "Zoomer" terms it begins with an AAVE term becoming bastardized and having it's meaning changed. I'm Gen Z and I "unc" being thrown around online constantly>focusing on Paw Patrol>"TikTok brainrot"You've outed yourself as Gen Z.t. 22>but zoomers are near 30Depends on who. Most of us aren't nearing 30.
cool band shirt discussion /pol/botgenerational boogeymen are retarded talking points
>>130469844Its best if its good bands that you can talk aboutPeople collect those shirts you kno
>>130471488I bet you only wear it as pijamas or to go out to 7/11 or whatever convi to buy your energy drinks
>>130476394smells like projection. also spelt it wrong
I think generally speaking no one really gives a shit - either about what others think about them wearing the shirt or about the shirt they're wearing. The question is really more whether or not you've pulled something off. It technically doesn't matter what kind of shirt you're wearing or whether or not I'm into the band or whether I'd wear something like that or not, that's true, but you can also still look like a fag doing it. If you can pull it off then do it. But I can tell if you don't go to shows anymore (I also don't go to shows anymore, mostly)
>>130469844do iteven better if you don't know any of their songs
>>130469844Most people forgot what shirt they put on within 5 minutes
>>130475403Based not many people have been peed on or bled on from a stage decapatation at a gwar show and it shows ;)
>>130469844I only have metal shirts and hi-vis construction shirts. My current rotation is Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, and Misfits. I wash and dry them on delicate.
>>130469844>youre wearing edgy cannibal corpse type shut and most people roll their eyesThis. Just don't wear edgy or faggy shirts. Nobody is gonna judge you for wearing a Stones shirt.
>>130478605If you wear Ghost or Sleep Token shirts I'm probably going to judge you in my mind at least.
>>130476394Pajamas yes, but I don’t like to dress sloppily even for simple errands.
>>130469844zoomers don't listen to music tho
>>130478665>Sleep Token shirtsI would expect any older millenial or older wearing that shit is on the prowl for zoomettes and approve of the hustle. Would expect them to actually like the band, haha.
So far I've got a Smiley Smile t shirt and a Smile T shirt and I intend to buy more, I might get a Summer in Paradise shirt if it exists and there's an Electric Wizard one I've wanted for years
>>130469844I stopped caring about what others think of my t-shirts when I graduated from high school. If you like death metal wear the shirt. When I have worn my Broken Hope shirt, what happened? Some cute goth girls wanted to talk to me, another death metal guy came up and wanted to talk about the new album. I wore my Deeds of Flesh hat and got complements as well. I would have missed out on this if were so self conscious that I was afraid to wear a shirt in public. Just have some self-confidence.The only shirt I would not wear again in public is a Grateful Dead t-shirt. I wore one to Target and it caused a real commotion. Tons of people were coming up to me trying to get drugs from me or else wanting me to go to their car to "burn one". So many deadheads and druggies out there. A lot more than I realized.
>>130481462Lol. My dad's a big deadhead and that's about what I would expect to happen if you told someone you were into grateful dead
>>130470049>i mostly listen to albums straight through and can't name half the songs on them, even if i know them all by heart and have heard them 100 timeskek, I have this exact issue. song names are a mystery while I can name each album and EP in release order
>>130478665>>130481223They're both Millennial bands. It's like assuming someone wearing a Femtanyl shirt is trying to poach Zalpha teens. Like what's more likely?
>>130481462>>130481846deadheads are legit an entire class of people destroyed by the government lmaoentire lower class full of mk ultra rejects fucking KEK
>>130469844After high school I stopped wearing shirts with designs on them.
>>130469844I lift weights in t-shirts from Judas Priest, Suicidal Tendencies, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Death, Rush and Maggie Rogers. I occasionally get comments but that's about it. Only time anyone gave me grief over a shirt was some old Evangelical when I went to Texas. He tossed out some comment under his breath before walking off with a "God bless."
>>130487879based except for maggie rodgers she is ugly af due to her small nose that is all the way up like somebody fucked up in the character creator screen in a video game
What's cringe is your bitch made attitude. See we gen Xers knew the basis of cool
>>130487886Pfft! She's got the perfect White girl nose.
>>130487879>Judas Priest, Suicidal Tendencies, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Death, Rush and Maggie Rogershow's it feel being a caricature of a person fucking LMAO
>>130488232Doesn't bother me in the least.
>>130488250yeah indians are well known for their complete lack of self-reflection
>>130487879i dont believe you lift weights or own those shirts.prove me wrong
On Temu you can find cool band shirts for cheap, even of pretty obscure stuff.I've ordered a few, but the quality of the printing is usually pretty bad. Even if the picture looks decent, the printing feels very plastic-y, like a layer of PVC glued to the fabric. It can be ok only for simple minimalistic graphics or logos, not shirts with full-size designs.
>>130488344genuinely disgusting idea.if you're getting a band shirt, you're getting it to support the band. also im the one who posted this >>130488232those bands dont need money, fuck their shirts. support good underground music
>>130469844op you're a retard
>>130488339>>130488258i LOVE the radio silence after this little inquiry lmao
>>130488258>>130488339>>130488429
>>130488371>genuinely disgusting idea. >if you're getting a band shirt, you're getting it to support the bandThe shirts I've bought are of old ass bands, not currently active ones. I would buy official merchandise if it was available.Anyway, official band apparel often has retardedly high prices, like 30 pounds for a Gildan or Fruit of the Loom printed shirt, and you also have to add the shipping fees. I would rather support them by buying the records, like I already do.
>>130488573>>130488563>>130488548>no timestamp>no weightliftingtry harder jeetoid
ok thres a timestamp, i still dont believe you liftalso genuinely disgusting your infatuation with this whoreyou will never be with her lmao
