So it's just some... regular, plain safe downtempo and chillout? Are people really excited about this? If you go in a Buddha Bar cafè you can listen to way more interesting even stimulating music than this.
It's not regular and safe. It's cringe and self-parodying.
I didn't like it
>>130476350to be honest, i don't wanna admit it but i was disappointed, it sounds too hifi and has that heavy digital bass that sounds like something out of DOOM or some shit, overall it's mid but Naraka, deep time and you retreat are new BOC favorites tho.
Snoozefest of Canada - Snoozno
This OP is proof that BoC has done it again. This guy is addicted to hating this album because of how much energy and love is flowing toward the brothers right now. OP wants to capture some of that energy the only way he knows how. Not all of us can handle the light. I understand, OP. You feel alone in this world.
I remember a billion years ago these guys did something with cLOUDDEAD and that was the last time I ever listened to them
>>130476350Yea but its THE BOARDS OF CANADA BRO!
Impressive samefagging unc
>>130476350Nigga why do you keep saying "Buddha bar" like anyone knows what that is
i listened to it yesterday after seeing the oddly high review score on rym and i basically felt similarly. i've been a fan of theirs for nearly 20 years now (old), but this new album feels almost like a pastiche. it's not bad in and of itself but it's feels significantly more punchy than their previous works, which doesn't really align with the style i expect from them. (not to say it's bad for artists to change styles, but when a group releases an album 30 years after their first, a "changed style" usually indicates "what they were doing before, but worse" versus any conscious artistic change.)
>>130476350>So it's just some... regular, plain safe downtempo and chillout? That would be The Campfire Headphase lol
>>130478441>oddly highit was just released, of course the fanboys and shills are gonna bump the score. wait a bit for it to normalize
>>130476350Cope
wallpaper ambient like BoC is for people who want musical emotional regulation, but nothing that's too interesting or cognitively taxing. just ignore it and go listen to some actually good complex ambient music
>>130476350Dude...listen to fucking Seefeel.
BoC is complex ambient for people who hate wallpaper ambient
>>130476350BoC is emotionaly charged navel-gazing music for people to get lost inside their own heads. Hence the cultish fanbase
>>130476350Music is emotionally charged sounds for people to get lose inside their own heads. Hence why everyone on Earth listens to music. They're in a cult called the music-likers.
>>130478619got groomed by a jew cult award
>>130476350>So it's just some... regular, plain safe downtempo and chillout? It's above average good, don't delude yourselfIt's nothing groundbreaking, nor AOTD or anything, but a solid addition to their discography
I dont get the appeal
>>130476350broads of canada have a right to your children
It’s sounds like the stuff that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross make. They could probably make a good soundtrack.
Arena Americanada is good
>>130476350it's a great record
>>130476350it's a mid record
go play word becomes flesh for some normie girls and tell me what kind of restraining order you get
>>130476420this took me a listen and a half to realize but its not lofi sounding enough which is what I used to like about them
>>130478619another great reason why this album doesn't live up to their old sound, getting lost in your head to this is the equivalent to failing one of those 6 year old mazes
>>130478686theres a lot of fags ITT (these threads) that are seriously saying its album of the decade, I imagine a lot of them are the same types that say no good music has been released in years which really means they're modern music noobs. Its not bad music, its pretty decent but its really nothing amazing.
>>130478443>The Campfire HeadphaseExcept nothing on INFERNO can even hold a candle to the way “Hey Saturday Sun” morphs into “Constants Are Changing”… hilarious and delusional cope.
>>130476350I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10 which is impressive after all this time.
>>130476350More like Boreds of Canada
>>130486212Acts of Nagic to Memory Death to The Word Becomes FleshCapricorn to Father and Son is pretty based too. The sequencing is actually one of the album's strengths.
I'm so glad I actually have an IQ high enough to fully enjoy this album
